For the seasoned post-op'ers - exercising
So it shouldn't be much longer before I am released to do more exercise. Right now I am just getting some walking in. I don't own a bike, nor can I afford to get one. I don't swim (picture an anchor). But as I near that release date I am wondering what I can do to ease into a regular exercise routine. I have never been a…

On my way!
Yesterday was my first appointment with the bariatric program. It was incredible! I was so sure that my insurance would require a 3-6 month program; but if I have all the tests and exams completed and have lost 5% of my starting weight, I meet with the surgeon and can schedule the surgery! I am so excited! I just have to…

Day after surgery
I am feeling pretty good. Sore like I did a sit-up marathon, but good. As of right now I have walked 5 times. My swallow test didn't show any problems so now I get ice chips! After being without something to drink for so long they tasted devine. But right now I am gonna nap. Just wanted to let you all know how well things…

How much have you lost?? A fun comparison scale!
A friend gave this to me and I thought you guys might get a kick out of it too. Its fun to think of weight lost as something real! Enjoy! How much have you lost?? 1 lb = a Guinea Pig 1.5 lbs = a dozen Krispy Kreme glazed donuts 2 lbs = a rack of baby back ribs 3 lbs = an average human brain 4 lbs = an ostrich egg 5 lbs = a…

Have you told anyone about your WLS?
I've been very reluctant to tell anyone IRL that I'm having bariatric surgery... I told my husband and son (of course), and the only other person who knew was my auntie, who I'm very close to. She's offered to drive to all my appointments with me and even stay with me (out of town) when I have the surgery. My dad was here…

What did you do with your old "fat" clothes?
I'm getting to the point where some of my pants are getting fairly loose and I can barely wear them, even with a belt. Did you eventually donate them to charity? Or maybe you saved some "just in case" you gained some weight back? Or maybe you saved your biggest pair of pants just to remind yourself of where you were and to…

Noisy Stomach Post-op
I am 16 days post-op and have noticed my stomach makes extremely audible noises when digesting now, is this normal? It was really bad today, I apparently ate too fast trying (or ate too close to taking my giant potassium pills..) to get ready to leave the house and ended up in the worst pain through my back and stomach and…

How long were you on liquid diet before surgery?
My hospital wants me on a liquid diet for 2 full weeks before surgery date. Drinking 4-5 meal replacement/protein shakes and having 2 eggs or cheese. The goal is to stay around 1000-1200 calories a day. The last 48 hours they want me on only liquids. I'm in that 2 week window right now. (Surgery date 3/16) And so far I…

surgery in 9 days
I'm getting ready to go on my liquid diet in a few days. I'm getting a bit nervous. I keep wondering if I'm doing the right thing. I'm pretty sure I am since my health is really starting to suffer with my weight, but it seems like such a drastic thing to do to lose weight. But I keep reading everything everyone is sharing…

Newbie
Hello!!! I was banded in June 2004. My Dr recommended that I use the MFP app to track my eating. I have in recent months put on 25lbs after maintaining my weight between 129-137lbs for years. I became very self destructive and stopped caring about myself.. I am ready to get back on track and need support.

How much do you eat
i was just wondering how far everyone is and how much do you eat in a normal day (cal, protein, carbs, ect)? I'm a little more then 2 mo out and I on average eat around 300-400cal a day. I've been getting on average 40g of protein, sometimes more sometimes less. I try to get more in but my stomach just can't handle it.

Nausea with multivitamins?
I have the Bariatric Advantage Essential Multi chewable and I've tried taking them with food, without food... and I get intensely nauseous as soon as I swallow. It's the only time I ever feel nausea, and it's intense enough that I have to get up and go to the bathroom or keep a basin- because each time, I'm not sure I'm…

Issues with sweetness
Does the issue with sweet things leave eventually? I read from so many they can not tolerate sweet post op. OMG they were not kidding it is dramatic. Crystal light packet in a 33oz of water and still too sweet. No truvia in coffee makes me icky sweet now. Coffee is bitter now. Do we adjust or do I venture to find new ways…

Sucralose
While everything is going pretty good here in my recovery, I am finding that anything with Sucralose is causing tummy troubles. The only problem with that is that I am on clear liquids only, so that means I can't have my jello, Isopure protein drink, or Nectar protein drink. That makes it much harder to get protein in to…

Problems with protein
Hello, everyone. I'm hoping you guys can lend me some insight. I am just over one month pre-op. I had my gastric sleeve on Mardi Gras Day, or as my friend Ben, who has also had the surgery calls it, "Unfat Tuesday." My problem is that I seem to have a violent nauseous reaction to the protein shakes. Whenever I have…

Pre-surgery Lightheaded Question
I am pre-surgery and have been working protein shakes into my daily diet. Last week I replaced both breakfast and lunch with a shake to see how I might feel. I was still taking in around 1200 calories. After 5 days I began to feel really light headed which is making me nervous about post-surgery weeks. I've added B-12 and…

6-week post-op appt., scan for blood clots, and leg pain...
So I had my 6-week post-op appointment yesterday and I'm down 39 pounds (since last formal weigh-in, 2 weeks before surgery). Good stuff. However, over the last few days I have been having a lot of weird leg pain...and I let the doctor know (usually I keep silent about my ailments, assuming they will go away on their own).…

Feeling a little Easter celebration depression
My huge Catholic family has a large Easter celebration, & I am considering attending mass and going home. I have my "list" of food expectations that my famiky will bring, but I am not sure if I am ready to be around all of the food, smelling it and not even being able to have any of it. I am feeling depressed either way.…

Shrinking tattoos?
Anyone here have tattoos that shrunk with your skin? If so, did they shrink generally in a proportional way or did they end up mangled looking? I have a very curvy, flowing, asymmetrical sleeve type of thing and am wondering if it's going to look weird and if it does if there is anything I can do about it. Not so much a…

Something I hadn't really thought about much and even forgot a little bit!
I am 8 months out and saw this on a facebook group I belong to. I had almost forgotten about this! It is important to remind the people around us that in case anything should happen the EMT's NEED to know this!! I was glad I was reminded of it so I thought I would pass the reminder along! :) Has anyone had any experience…
