Hi! I'm new and two weeks post-op
Hello! I'm new to the site and looking for friends who are going through this journey. I was sleeved on 9/18/14 and I have just passed the two weeks post-op mark. I am on the liquid phase of the program (one more week to go) which my surgeon uses --- they do not do the pureed phase. And I am soooo looking forward to the…

sleep apnea
So I just had an appointment with my medical internist to review a sleep study, turns out I have seveer sleep apnea, and am now on a CPAP machine. It really does explain a lot of how my body was feeling and how tired I always felt. I am curious if anyone else had it and if it was resolved with your weightloss. The CPAP is…

VSG or RNY: Most Effective?
Hi all. I'm new to the group and began my weight loss surgery journey today! I've struggled with my weight for most of my life. I've been researching weight loss surgery for years, always convincing myself that I can "do it on my own." But at 25, I was diagnosed with PCOS; not only is weight loss still a struggle, but I…

First post and my surgery date is Monday
Hello Group, I am anxious! I've been going through this process for over a year. I was told in the beginning and just a month ago, that i may not be approved by my insurance. Since I have a BMI of 37.5 with "minor comorbidities" such as severe arthritis, sleep apnea and gallstones, it wouldn't be enough to sway Aetna to…

Looking for feedback - 8 weeks post-op VSG
Good Morning MFP friends.... I have a love-hate relationship with my sleeve. I've named her. Her name is Tina the Tiny Tummy Tyrant. I love her because she has helped me to lose a significant amount of weight so far - I am enjoying my smaller clothes, my shrinking body, the appreciative way that my wife looks at me, and…

Fat loss by laser or freezing to go along with sleeve??
I was sleeved on 9/18/14. I am wondering if anyone has tried that laser fat reduction or Coolsculpting to go along with their sleeve or other weight loss procedure? I have been researching it for a while now and it looks like it would assist with things because it actually eliminates fat cells (versus just reducing them in…

Resetting Calories....
Because of my height and weight I wanted to lose, MFP had me at what people say is the lowest setting, 1200 calories. Obviously now that Ive had my Sleeve (last Thurs), everything that Ive consumed is not anywhere near that mark. Where do I go to reset the #'s so it doesn't show like Im starving myself?!?

Favorite/Easiest food to eat after gastric bypass
I would just like to hear what everyone's favorite food and easiest foods to after RNY (obviously not immediately after because of the liquid and pureed diet) I know the generics, but I would love your opinion! I'm having RNY on May 13th :) I'm talking about foods to eat once you are able to eat solids. Thanks!

One Year Ago Today, Job Offers, and New Clothes, Oh My!
In all my excitement of the job offer I received today I completely forgot that today is my one year surgery anniversary until now. I cannot believe that it's been a year. Wow! To be completely honest, when I started this whole thing I daydreamed that I'd be at my goal weight at this point, and while I am not yet there I…

Does anyone know if you can do the Gluten Free diet even though you have the RNY? My PCP advised me to try it due to I have IBS and new studies show that it helps that. And if you are doing this is there any helpful books or websites you can direct me to? TIA

Fitness Tracker
Ok, so I used a Fitbit for a couple years and liked it, but I washed & dried it one too many times and it's been dead for nearly a year now. (yes, it totally survived 3-4 trips through the washer & dryer) I decided not to replace it right away and am now wanting a fitness tracker of some sort again as it motivated me…

Lap Band Rebounder... or late bloomer? IDK...
I was banded 2 years ago, and I didn't lose one ounce. Matter of fact I think I gained a few pounds.... I'm actually sure I have. Anywho... IT'S ALL MY FAULT! I didn't eat right, didn't exercise, etc, etc, etc... the only reminder I have that I' actually banded is the fact that I throw up when I eat too fast. Well... I'm…

Post-op feeding
Hi All, I was thinking about the eating post-op, and I thought it might be good for me to make a bunch of stuff pre-op and have portioned out and frozen prior to the operation, particularly for the puree and minced food stages. I was wondering if anyone else did any prep pre-op and what they did, or if you didn't, was…

Stuck and unsure how to rebuild my wagon to get on
So yesterday I thought about actually calling my insurance about getting the ducks in a row for weight loss surgery.... Didn't go well. I was stressed all day and so jumpy. I shoved every horrible thing I could in my mouth and no nothing even tasted good. I have been self destructing since my nutritionist gave me the…

I'm new and apprehensive
Hi. I am new to this site and curious about how it works. I am apprehensive in my determination to be diligent, not whether a sensible program works. I had gastric band surgery in 2010. It slipped within 6 weeks, sometimes allowing food to pass and sometimes not at all. I spent the next 2 years often unable to hold…
