New pants.
I went to kohls yesterday to get new capris. They have an elastic waist and are made of stretchy jean material. I had gotten a size 8 a few months ago and went to get a size six. They didn't have a size six but the had aa size 4. I tried them on and they fit. Now I know because of the make of them is the only reason I can…

Completely new to this
Hi all, I've just been reading some of the threads and am finding them very informative. I am on Vancouver Island in Canada and about 6 months to sleeve surgery. I'm still working on the emotional eating problems, and portion control and am open to any advice or tips you may have. I tend to do OK for a week or so, then I…

Protein Bar Blues
This morning I ate a quest bar (cinnamon roll) for breakfast while I was driving to work. It did not agree with me. Within 5-10 minutes, I was praying for a bathroom. Has this ever happened to anyone else? I looked at the wrapper and there is an undisclosed amount of "pre-biotic" fiber, as well as the protein, in the bar.…

Hair Loss - Does it start right at 3 months?
For RNY does hair beging falling out right at 3 months? I will be at three months on 9/11 but no hair is falling out yet. I have been having trouble with protein since my gallbladder came out/started getting sick so I am concerned. I have really thick hair so hopefully it won't be too noticeable but if it is bad I am…

Labor Day Challenge
Time for the next challenge! All these challenges have been very weight oriented (which is awesome!) but I think it would be great to start getting some other goals in as well. Weight goals are excellent for all of you that are still on your weight loss journey, but there are also a very large number of people in this…

Help, Sudden intolerance to protein purée stage RNY
Hi all, I am in week three post op and about two weeks into my purée stage. For the past three days I cannot get protein shakes down without gagging or throwing up. Something about the taste of the protein has become intolerable. I normally do premier or pure protein to get the max benefits per calories, but I've tried…

Stricture?
I have suddenly noticed I can eat a lot less food (i had RNY) compared with even a week ago. (Keep in mind I am only allowed 1/2 a cup a meal). Could I be experiencing stricture? Why is food suddenly making me full after just a few bites? Do I tell my surgeon? I am okay with yogurt but I can't even get to my veggies after…

My Cholesterol Levels Make No Sense!
Before my sleeve surgery, 9 months ago, my triglycerides were at 199 (high), HDL was at 42 (low), LDL was at 129 (within range), and my total cholesterol was 209 (slightly high). Nine months and 114 lbs later, my triglycerides are at 88 (within range) and my HDL is at 63 (above 46 is good). Both are good news. HOWEVER, my…

Surgery scheduled and on the board
Finally.....my vsg is scheduled for next Friday 9/5/14....and I didn't cry when I nearly snatched the door off my mailbox and saw the old familiar BCBS envelope. Words cannot express how I am feeling right now except, move over fat clothes, the ladies from the back are stepping up to the front of the closet  …

Broth recipe
A friend asked me how to make broth, because I had told her how satisfying I found broth when I was doing the liquids-only part of the diet. This is what I do: *** You can use bouillon cubes from the grocery store if you want something super quick that you can do at home or at the office instead of coffee or tea. If I do…

Surgeon Consultation Scheduled
So I finally got my consult scheduled and of course the surgeon I want has the longest wait time. So I will see him on 10/27, then it will probably be 3 to 4 weeks after that for my surgery. I was really hoping to have had it done by end of September early October, but those plans are out. How long did everyone else have…

Done Deal
I had my surgery 8/20. Sleeve w/hiatal hernia repair. The hernia repair is giving me the most problems, but I have to say that this is going much, much, much easier than I anticipated. I have not had any nausea, I'm getting my fluids in without problems and taking protein well. I've been told Day 3 post-op is sometimes the…

Really Good Article About Breaking a Stall
Weight Loss — Without the Crazy Diets http://dailyburn.com/life/health/expert-weight-loss-tips/ 1. De-emphasize the scale. Most physicians would readily agree that the scale alone is a very incomplete metric, says Sullivan. So is your BMI number, or any other metric number on its own. Being healthy involves dozens of…

regain, high protein ?s and visit with surgeon/dietician
Hi, everyone. I have been getting back on track since 7/29. I had my surgery in 2002, and I have been struggling with the balance of what to eat since I can not remember half of what I was taught back then, and also I feel like I can eat A LOT now, like what might break down to 2 cups of food in my stomach after chewing. I…

Upset tummy... only four days out
Having a rough day. Feeling nauseous and have a headache. I had 1/4 cup of protein drink and just enough water to take four morning meds. I crushed one of them, but the other three were smaller than an eraser, so I took them whole one at a time three hours ago. I'm so paranoid of dumping that I haven't tried anything else.…

First full day home post-op...
First full day home after RNY and uncomfortable but not bad. I didn't sleep that well last night... lots of getting out of bed to pee. But I'm counting on a better sleep tonight! The post-op air bubbles seem to be subsiding this evening and that helps a lot. I've been able to burp and pass gas! I am having a hard time…

Thrilled with my Low Carb/High Protein Results
I guess I'm just so excited that I felt I have to share. Prior to my gastric bypass 11 years ago, I had tried every diet under the sun. Everything except a low carb/high protein; I typically focused on low fat. Now 11 years out and after putting back on 40plus pounds, I'm 3 weeks into the LC/HP frame of mind. I have to say…

The race is October 11th so I need to get with the program. Anyway, anyone else training for a race? I can't do any weight lifting for 4 weeks so jogging only. I…
