  • You look terrific---congrats !!!
  • I did a lot of research and decided on the sleeve. My surgeon wanted me to have RNY due to my gastric problems but I opted for the sleeve and I am really happy with my decision. Contact your Ins Co first. I had to go through 6 months of classes and they taught me a lot and prepared me for the journey. My ins now only…
  • LOL That is what we had for dinner last night. I used Flatout flatbread--90 cals. I used burger. mushrooms, cheese, sauce and sundried tomatoes on mine. I ate 3/4 of it. Hubby had more toppings on his including sausage
  • My husband and i have Aetna. I was approved with a 35 BMI due to health problems and he was denied. He appealed and was denied a 2nd time. He was told to wait 6 months and try again. His paperwork will be re-submitted again in Feb. (we both did 6 months of classes etc and had to pay for that out of pocket)

  • My pre-op diet was 2 bars and 3 protein drinks a day. Then a meal high in protein for dinner. --For 2weeks. Every surgeon seems to have a different plan
  • I had the sleeve done 9/9/14 and I am eating 1000-1100 calories a day. I have also had many stalls. It is common. I was in starvation mode early on and the NUT had me up my calories. I get at 70 - 80 g of protein a day. Some days i get more.
  • You are looking great!
  • I am in month 5. I was moved up to 1000 calories in month 3---and told by month 6 to go up to 1200. I am doing great at 1000 calories a day hitting my protein everyday and even higher a lot of days. I will move up when i feel that 1000 is not working for me.
  • We go to a local Chinese buffet. I explained after my surgery that I can only eat a very small amount now and they allow me to put what i want in a take-out container and pay by the lb. I then can sit and eat with my husband. My meal is usually under 3.50 and I have enough left to have another meal! I have asked this at…
  • You will get there before you know it--and be able to eat lots of things to get that protein
  • I thought today was your big day! I sent you a message. Good luck GF---on your new "Life Journey!"
  • You took responsibility for things getting a bit of of control but then worked through the "why's" By taking care of yourself today and being mindful you will be fine. Today is a "NEW DAY!"
  • jamezln ~~I think you explained it wonderful!
  • I am only at month 3 and a loss of 42 lbs. Very slow but I had the sleeve at a 35 BMI due t so many medical problems--I have fought the cancer battle twice now and I still see the scar from that back surgery and so many other surgeries. I went shopping today and even bras are terrible because I have so much loose extra…
  • I agree---they have no idea how much work goes into planning what to eat--drink etc. everyday for the rest of our lives. plus exercise. It is not easy by far but a tool. These people have no idea unless they have someone close to them go through it. I have heard a lot of comments that people say too. Like Oh they all gain…
  • LOL I like them in the microwave too
  • I was looking today too! I need it to pull in the low stomach that is hanging!
  • They told me the main incision was on my left side. I looked today and my belly dents in there--much more than a dimple! LOL The biggest cut was on the bottom above my belly button.
  • Ours--is put on your big girl panties! ( Or pants for the guys!)
  • I have no idea what the milk diet is. It seems that each doctor has their own way of doing things---even our diets after surgery can be different.I will add you as a friend---the more people you talk to--the better understanding of things... Donna
  • Try whatever you need to---just to get things moving! LOL
  • Welcome--great to have you in the group! (Donna)
  • I go to the Chinese buffet--we found one that lets me get my food in a take-out (charged by the pound) and what I cannot eat I take home. If it is not a buffet~~ order something you will be able to digest and take the left overs home. It amazes me how much food i bring home now! (Rob---have a wonderful trip--I think it is…
  • I have one that is very high too--5 total. the one above my belly button is an inch long. The others were just small hole. I did have trouble on one side at night when I tried to sleep after the surgery--LOL I cannot remember what side so I guess it is fine now. I had steri-strips and my pain medication was injected into…
  • I have done well with chicken as long as it is very, very moist. I did best making it in the crockpot and then shredding it. I did the same thing with pork. The crockpot really helps it stay moist enough for us to eat. When we go out and i order chicken--it is usually to dry for me to digest. There is only 1 restaurant i…

  • I do re-fried beans--yest they have carbs but i work them into my counts for the day. I also do fruit in a smoothie if needed. I have the same problem as you--and this past year I had major back surgery so yes i have pain when i cannot move things along. I do use stool softeners and i have started taking coconut oil…
  • I was lucky--my pre-op diet was 3 protein drinks, 2 protein bars, fluids and a healthy dinner. I did not have to go on all liquids or anything very tough.
