I've had Runner's Knee and ITBS and had to decrease my running for a few months, with about a month off from running completely. Now I manage as said above - tons of stretching and foam rolling, every day.

Congratulations!! This is what I did - I started c25k, then did bridge to 10k. I was completely hooked by the end of it and have since run several half marathons and a marathon. Such great programs!

On my very long run days (which I consider 15+ miles) I'll eat whatever I want for dinner and not log it. For me, that's never been a problem weight-wise. I am mindful, though, especially since I tend to be super hungry a couple days after my long run, so I always get back to tracking the next morning. On my shorter runs,…

I'm gf/df. I did it previously for a couple years, fell off the wagon and just started it again about a week ago. This blog has awesome recipes if you haven't checked it out before! https://glutenfreegoddess.blogspot.com/

I do the same. I didn't drink Sun-Thursday this week and saved the calories so I can bust out a bottle of wine tonight.

Drink less alcohol.

Just got back from the chiropractor and he went to work on my IT bands. He said they were extremely tight and that's why my knees were hurting - not from runner's knee. It was super painful but I already feel better. He said a couple more sessions with him plus foam rolling at home should have me back to pain-free running…

@esjones12 - Thanks for the feedback. I have an awesome Chiro who is also a runner but for some reason didn't think to go to him - I just scheduled an appointment! Thanks for the tip on foam rolling - I've looked at YouTube videos but still don't feel like I'm being all that effective. @BrianSharpe - Seems like the 2 week…
-
@LazSommer - That makes sense - I'll look into adding some hamstring exercises. Thanks!
-
@DoubleG2 - Thanks for the feedback. I have a PT appointment tomorrow morning and he wants to analyze my stride at that point. It'll be interesting to see what he has to say.
-
@WickedPineapple - That's exactly what I'm going through. I take two weeks off, my knees feel great and then the pain comes back after a mile or two of running again. Sounds like maybe I haven't taken enough time off - I'll make it a full month before running again. @LazSommer - I haven't. Do you mean in terms of strength…
-
@MeanderingMammal - I'm hoping the cycling classes will keep me from going crazy while I'm taking the next few weeks off - glad to hear it's helped you! I wonder if I just didn't take enough time off previously. @jasonsunlee - Thanks for the feedback! I'll be doing cycling to help keep my fitness up - I tried the…

I hate it, too. I've found that visiting the airport bar pre-flight makes it much better. Here's my list - 14 so far: US (home) Canada Thailand South Korea France Italy Belize Guatemala Hong Kong New Zealand Australia Ireland Mexico Iceland Hopefully many more to come!

Good for you! I started b210k after c25k and loved it, perfect transition.

Hi all! I'm traveling and moving this month so I'm going to bow out as I won't be on here all that often. I have 2 HMs planned for September so I'll report back on how my knees hold up. Just wanted to stop by and say happy running, and thanks for all the support last month!

I love this - congratulations!

08/01 - 4 miles 08/03 - 4 miles 08/04 - 2 miles 08/07 - 6 miles 08/12 - 1 mile 08/20 - 6.2 miles 08/26 - 2 miles 08/28 - 8 miles Not going to reach 40 by the end of the month, but the fact that I'm able to run at all is good enough for me. I have back to back HMs on the 10th and 17th of September so I'm trying to save…

Good for you! I struggle so much with this - I know if I changed nothing except quit drinking my calories, I'd maintain at 10 pounds lighter. But I love my wine and beer... I guess I just have to decide if it's worth it to me to cut way back (after seeing your results it might be!). Decisions, decisions. Really though, so…

@skippygirlsmom @ddmom0811 @greenolivetree @shanaber - Thank you!! My race photos are always so awkward and I never buy them but when I saw this one, I purchased it immediately! @kristinegift - There are some group runs in my area and I haven't pulled the trigger on joining. I'm afraid I'm going to hold people back or that…

Quick update and then I'll read through everything I missed when I have a little more time. Hope everyone has been doing well! I took…
-
@ddmom0811 @skippygirlsmom - We didn't make it far and he subsequently started howling at the door for hours after getting back inside. Lesson learned; never again.

@greenolivetree @Elise4270 - FR accepted! The food part has been hard for me. I got used to eating a certain way while peak training for the marathon, and now I have to scale way back, especially since I'm injured. So far I've only gained 3 lbs or so so I'd like to stop that trend now. I will say that I did strength…
-
@Orphia - I promise to post pictures when I get back, I'm so excited! @AdrianChr92 - That's an amazing 5k time, congratulations!! @RespectTheKitty - Good work on getting up for your run! I continuously tell myself I'm going to do that and have yet to actually do it. @ariceroni - Sorry to hear about your injury. I hope it…

Thanks everyone for the support! You and I are in the exact same boat. I'm trying to lose 5 pounds while also cross-training to help with my injury. I started You Are Your Own Gym and so far I love it. I'm super sore today and feel like I'm getting a great workout. I hope you start to feel better soon - I know how…

Tons of pages to catch up on here! Definitely spoke too soon with my last update of running pain-free. I ran 6 miles on the 7th…

Wow. This really gets to me, too. I've heard some say that the "cut off" is 10 minutes/mile. In that case, I didn't run a marathon, I jogged it. *eye roll*

08/01 - 4 miles 08/03 - 4 miles You guys - I ran completely PAIN FREE last night! I got some orthotics to try out a few days ago and I'm not sure if it's those, the stretches/workouts, or everything combined, but I was giddy. Trying to stay calm and avoid doing too much too soon, but I feel like I'm going the right…

A lot to catch up on when you miss a day! @lporter229 - The Nimbus and GT-2000 have similar cushioning, but the Nimbus is softer whereas the 2000 cushioning is more dense. I happen to like the Nimbus better in that area because I like the feeling of a "cloud like" run, but I get more support from the 2000 so I'm sticking…

So glad to hear this! I have the shoe problem taken care of, but I need something to support my knees until my strength gets built up. I tried out patellar straps last night which were ok, but my PT suggested the tape instead. Can't wait to try it out!
