It might be "normal" but I wouldn't consider it healthy. That's one of the things that convinced me that I needed to lose weight. Between that and riding a bicycle several times a week, it takes several flights of stairs for me to pay much attention to them.

It seems like it would be great for keeping your blood moving, but I wouldn't think it would provide much exercise otherwise.

They may be right about it burning 2.5x the calories if the conditions are right, but there are limits to what we can do. A high resistance at low frequency may burn fewer calories than a lower resistance with a high frequency or vice versa. This is because of our limits. So just because the marketers claim something…

Altimeters use air pressure to measure altitude. When there is water in the air hole the pressure that the sensor measures is different. Once it dries out it should be fine. But repeated exposure to water could result in the hole being clogged with calcium or bacteria.

I use a Cycleops smart trainer with Zwift. I think it is well worth the money.
-
Increase the resistance and you'll be more likely to stand up.

I do everything I can to be very visible when I ride. Even if they don't like cyclists, drivers don't want to hit them because it would mess up their car. If the conditions make it difficult for people to see me I don't ride in it unless I have to.

I love my noxgear vest.

Grain based products tend to do that, especially when consumed in excess.

Either way, just to it the same way every time.

Gotta go with The Joy of Cooking for the best, but I've used the Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook more than any other.

Just because something isn't still "news" doesn't mean employers aren't still doing it.

I deal with hunger by eating.
-
Basically, you're just skipping breakfast. You won't lose weight by skipping breakfast if you eat more for dinner and supper.
-
There's a few motorists I would have liked to do that to, but there is nothing to be gained by endangering the lives of people who endanger you. If it had caused a wreck it could have injured the bikers but also any bystanders who might be around.

I have both and they both show the same weight, so I use the digital scale because it is easier to read. You should test both scales with a known weight to see which is accurate.

Distance doesn't matter. What matters is time and resistance. On a regular bike you could ride downhill and burn few calories, but ride the same distance uphill in the same amount of time and you would burn a lot. People on stationary bikes tend to think they are burning more than they are. But using resistance and cadence…

I'm 42 and my TDEE is higher than it has ever been.

Riding a stationary bike is just as boring as running on a treadmill. You might take a look at Zwift. It makes riding a bicycle inside bearable. But they recently released a version for use with treadmills. I haven't tried it, but I've been seeing several runners using it.

You should lift to improve your ability to do cardio. Why would you stop cardio? That's the fun stuff.

Given your age, I can understand the doctor being concerned, but in general, weight loss can result in a lower heart rate because large people develop a circulatory system capable of supplying blood to their mass and then it has excessive capacity for their new mass. But dizziness is something to be careful with,…

I don't count water intake. If you are asking whether you should count coffee, that depends on why you are counting water to begin with. Just remember that your body would respond the same way if you drink coffee or if you drank water and then ate some instant coffee crystals afterwards.

Are you asking about people who weighed 250+ or about people who needed to lose 250+?
-
It's the same software with a different user interface.

That is well below the hydration guidelines. You should be drinking something every 10 to 20 minutes, even in the winter. In the summer it is even more important. People have died from not drinking enough water while exercising.

While moving your arms burns calories, giving that movement the same weight as actual steps that move your body forward doesn't make sense. There's a big difference between moving over 100 lbs three feet forward and moving a couple of pounds around.

Why worry about the quickest way? Find an exercise you enjoy doing and do it.
-
Technically, a "combination of exercise and breathing" is how you lose weight. When you eat you are replacing what you breathed out. When you eat too much you gain weight because you aren't breathing out enough to make up for what you are gaining.
-
Absolutely. People have time to do what they really want to do.

I find that having a challenge helps. This year I set out to burn 300,000 calories on the bicycle. I reached that goal and could slack off, but I realized that I had been riding over 600 miles each month, so I decided to do that for a whole year. Between vacation, Thanksgiving, and a funeral, reaching 600 this month has…
