  • I'm with you. I did lose 30lbs and although have been using the app everyday for a couple of years I have still put the weight back on. My goal would be 10 lbs by Easter.
  • I did get a Polder HRM, and tested it against the treadmill I use, seem as if they both had the same HR, but not calorie burn. The HRM said I burned 100 more calories than the treadmill. Which one would you go by for Fitbit? I don't enter my exercise in MFP anymore.
  • Yes, this is the only one I have found that works, but again not that well. I guess I was hoping for a real recipe calculator even if I had to purchase it. It is a shame that the site with the biggest database is so lame in this respect. The main reason I joined this site was the big data base, I do eat a lot of odd stuff…
  • This leads to the same link I have been using for entering my recipes by item. Again, if you need to change it later you just have to delete it and start over.
  • So what you are suggesting is my complaint. I got as far as edit recipe, then when you choose the item say dill pickle relish and want to change it to sweet pickle you can't, it acts like it is going to do something but it just reverts back to the old recipe. An endless loop of nothing. So if this works for you, then maybe…
  • Oxygen Magazine has a special edition out now, and it has lots of good strength training workouts for beginners, I just got it and was so impressed that I am taking a subscription.
  • Yes, I'm 62 and just started using a treadmill, there is a little girl that comes in and uses it for about 30 minutes and leaves. I watched her from the stationary bike where I did my cardio. She inspired me to try the treadmill and then to try and walk as fast as she does. I was next to her one day and I swear she was…
  • I still haven't bought a HRM, I lost the Fitbit One about a month after I got it. So got the Charge. I had wanted the Charge HR, but then reading some reviews that said they weren't that accurate. I will look at the Polder HRM's any other suggestions?
  • Thank you bodybybutter, even the old one on my computer will not let me edit the recipe. so I have to delete the whole recipe to change say the amount from 1 tablespoon to 1 teaspoon. It doesn't seem anyone here cares.
  • I would think if you log everything then you have to remove everything. The program automatically estimates a calorie expenditure based on the original preferences. If you said you do exercise at all, it will still subtract calories for the 2k steps and normal activities you do during the day.
  • My trainer told me planks are good for building core body strength. It may be true after you can do them well, as will all exercises you need to add weight or resistance. I can do 60 sec, but not on all planks. I am using a phone app right now and can't make it thru the whole routine.
  • I have been using a trainer for about 6 months. I take the special at the gym which was 10, 30 minute sessions for $200. I use my trainer twice a week and sometimes I don't feel as if we are really doing anything. I am working on core now. I was amazed when I realized that I could do a squat without the chair and I can now…
  • Get my Wii hooked up and learn the Zumba steps Take a Zumba class Ride my bikes Weight train more Learn how to low carb/cal cook and bake Finish projects around the house Work more on my business
  • I think once you put on the weight you make fat cells, when you lose the weight the cells empty but don't go away. So it will be easier to gain it back than it was to put it on in the beginning. This may be the set point people think they are experiencing. Also as you get older you don't burn calories as effectively.…
  • Fitbit One
  • Or scan the bar code with your phone and the app. Another way is to guesstimate the name of the item and see if someone else hasn't already put it in the data base. If it is a food from a recipe you can copy and paste the recipe into the program and have it create a new food.
  • My mom did this 20 years ago. She is 84 now. They weren't selling it in the markets back then. I just discovered Brummel and Brown yogurt butter spread and it is really good. Wish someone had a copycat recipe for that!
  • It should be in the tray. By the time and on the other side from the start button for Windows. My shows as a blue icon next to the sound button. You can also find the connect program using the start button
  • I find logging the exercise I do at the gym is easier in MFP.
  • I would like to be in the upper 130's, seems I have been hovering around 141 for a week now. I would also like to exercise at home more, I usually just work out at the gym 2 days a week plus track my eating and walking.
  • LOL, I climbed up and down stairs 19 times and walked 6200 steps getting my Christmas tree out of the attic, set up and the lights on.
  • I have been looking for a new phone and saw these watch type fitness bands. I thought they were a bit big, although they are really cool as far as the display goes. It would be a toss up buying one of those or a HRM. I haven't checked those out yet. I've been told that my heart rate should peak at 160. Does that mean I…

  • I just started back at the gym, with the idea of getting into shape for riding again. I'm really excited about it. Have got my bikes looking good, got new shoes just need my 40 year old legs back. I am doing the stationary bike, for 1/2 hour before strength training, and I can see a steady improvement in my calories…
  • Love the Tweed ride photo!
  • Thanks, Everyone I ordered a Fitbit One last night and got a wrist band for it as well. Now I can't wait to get started.
  • I too got 1200 a day to loose just 1/2 pound per week. That is only 2 lbs per month, at that rate it will take me a couple of years to loose 30 pounds. Very discouraged from the start. I have exercise listed as 3 times a week. Is this taking the exercise into account in this 1200 calories?
