    Well I made it. 3,000 miles in 18 months (13 months of actual riding with 5 winter months off). With the 2 major setbacks (bike frame crack & a terrible bike accident-unrelated) I was worried I wouldn't reach my goal this year but I did, yesterday.

    Awesome job m1xm0d3! With those long term goals, it's tough to keep the motivation up. Glad that you were able to push through (especially given the issues)!

    Cold, wet, windy weather kept me grounded this week. I ventured out today (cold and wet, no wind :) ) and rode for 10.2miles.

    I just started back at the gym, with the idea of getting into shape for riding again. I'm really excited about it. Have got my bikes looking good, got new shoes just need my 40 year old legs back.
    I am doing the stationary bike, for 1/2 hour before strength training, and I can see a steady improvement in my calories burned, level and miles but no where near what you are riding.
    I also did my first spin class this week, I was proud that I made 45minutes although I couldn't keep the pace. I have another spin class tonight so now I know what to expect.
    Hopefully I can do a challenge soon.

    Sounds like you are off to a great start Oriole35! Just hang in there and you'll be amazed.

    Goal: 500 miles. MTD: 395 miles

    Wind is still pretty brutal out there. A good visual would be the treatment that Hulk gives Loki in the last part of the Avengers movie. Today the temperature in the middle of the day was nice and made for a more comfortable ride (except the wind).

    The new (to me) bike was shipped out west (to specialized) last week as there was a safety recall on it. As a result, I've been bikeless for a week and a half. I guess that given I'm running 44 miles this week (as part of my marathon training plan), and it is getting pretty cold, I shouldn't complain too much. Still, I almost feel like a piece of me is missing without my bike.

    With time up north for Thanksgiving, I'll need to bring my bike along to hit my 400 mile target, but I suspect putting another 274 miles on the bike is feasible if the bike gets back from specialized in the next day or two. Either that, or I'll try a Key Largo-Key West RT trip at the end of the month to rack up another 200 miles.
