  • Is that a bought thing? WOW. If I don't make lunch all I can buy is a very sad looking soggy tuna sandwich :(
  • That's the odd thing, I loved them all separately....
  • Kale, cod and kimchi I didn't like it :(
  • Rice, kale (I don't know if I like kale) and steamed haddock with sauce and random vegetables. Plus seaweed rice crackers. Under 500 calories. As much as I like my monbento, this round thing is a bit of a better size.
  • I can't stand Rice pudding either, I don't know what I was expecting :pensive: Back to work today! Mine on the left, mans on the right. He has bread, ham, cheese, rice, omelette, spring onion, samphire and tuna. I have that kickass giant corn.
  • It's a cuckoo. It does do congee, but I can't stand it. It's like wallpaper paste, flem and disappointment. All the rice cookers here are pressure or slow cookers with a rice setting, and very ...meh. I found some ume shisho today too. But no edamame.
  • So I haven't posted here in a while. But I bought a rice cooker and it is the best thing ever! I seem to be eating rice for all my meals, and can easily cook enough for lunch too. Without cooking rice for eight people, or burning the bottom. Sushi rice seems to work too, which is taking most of the effort out. I don't read…
  • @SpecialKitty7‌ are the bunnies quail eggs? Show us how! (Not that I can find quail eggs)
  • It's an adorable rice wrapping though! (Darn my hatred of ham) Is it secured with cocktail sticks? That's the part that seems like a faff. That site has some completely adorable thing though - Like the quail egg animals! (Now that's a fuss) Today I made tiny fajitas. I finally bought an egg slicer AND some mini babybel.…
  • I was doing the water after frying thing too for ages. And then I watched this tv programme where he boiled the dumplings and then fried them (don't do that). Then I tried the steamer and then frying, which I think I prefer? So many ways The only frozen ones I can get are quite a trek, and there's not that many in the box…
  • @SpecialKitty7‌ out of interest, how do you cook your dumplings? Because I've been trying a few different ways lately, and I'm not sure
  • I bought my silicone bits from jbox. They sent me free tissues, ewwwwwww I've bought before too, they some super cute ones (and exchange rate is great)
  • Bits and pieces came! Long day tomorrow, so packed a bit more. The chopsticks are neat (though they fit in the lid), the cutters are adorable and the bf gets the flowery leftovers. And I used some spice mix for chicken wings, but the instructions were chinese and I made it up a bit.
  • I think I've ordered the exact same kitchen thing. (Sending the bf to pick it up today)
  • I don't live alone any more, but it was about £60/month minus things like toilet paper (and now it's nearly double). But I still find its a lot of planning not to waste stuff -like planning meals so you don't waste a whole can of veggies when you only need a little bit. Why don't they sell small bags of salad? But I am…
  • I'm a bit tired for sesame seeds!
  • I have sesame seeds and carrots! yay! My silicone baran is waiting for me at the post office too. A good day!
  • I always think of bagels as pre-chewed bread... Like someone spat it out and squished it into a shape. I was a strange child. The chicks are adorable! What are the faces made of?
  • Oh yeah! Told you I like Camembert hahahah (Apparently they do Brie too, I don't know what I eat)
  • I actually like Le Rustique, which is just the default Brie here. Or a Cornish Brie. But I rarely see mini Brie at all (too much crust, not enough mooey goodness) I actually prefer Camberbert though, which is similar but smellier.
  • I made a great looking lunch with a few leftovers. But I gave myself food poisoning last night, so it's going in the bin. Sad. I have a banana, I'm pretty wary of it. I'm busy pretending I'm not sick, so I don't have to own up to the ailing boyfriend. Oops. It had udon noodles in it. They looked fine this morning, and not…
  • I tried cling filming the pot, but they're super snug. If I have any on the base the lid won't close, and just on the side seems a bit pointless (maybe an elastic band?) OH WELL!
  • So I cobbled together some completely unauthentic kimchi jjigae (from my mostly Chinese cupboard), which is hotter than the surface of the sun. And I have some raisins, but I really don't know how water-tight or not this is, and didn't fancy spicy raisins. A good test I suppose though. Wish me luck and an unsoggy bag! I do…
  • Wow if I had one of those I might actually cook rice! I still default to the microwave kind more often than not.
  • @CupcakeCrusoe‌ which colour did you get again? The greens pretty bright, but so soft! I started making some gyoza, so that's a start
  • Ive got the whole weekend to figure out what to do with this thing! My old ones in the front. Such a difference, kind of intimidating. Definitely going to be a tier a meal thing.
  • Finally got my monbento after chasing FedEx all week (I hate them so much!). It's really pretty and very green, but huge! Think I'm going to pack two days lunches - a tier each.
  • I feel like a should've got another lid and band with mine, and then the bf could've used a tier. My onigiri box is teeny, and there's all that head height I rarely even use! Doubt I'll be using two tiers of monbento anytime soon
  • I went to the Chinese supermarket/"oriental city" today and bought Thai matcha pocky! It is gooooood. No actual matcha there though. I bought a lot (it's far away), but not much that I can bento, except more sushi supplies and gyoza I bought dried Beancurd sticks, but they didn't make it home. I swear it's actual meat, I'm…
  • http://m.allrecipes.com/recipe/51326/chinese-tea-leaf-eggs/ I sort of make it up a bit (that one had pretty pictures). Usually ends up with some peppercorns in it, a bit more soy and sometimes peel the eggs completely. Leave it overnight. Sometimes I do a cold mixture, or keep a jar in the fridge to reuse a few times. You…
