  • I'm going to buy myself a black leather jacket.
  • 5 10, easy to gain weight and not notice, until you've packed on 15 pds. This is probably the only bad thing about being tall. Otherwise I love being tall.
  • By " circle of friends ", I mean the ones I hang out with...NOT my MFP, or fibit friends.
  • My only real excercise is walking, and when the weather gets bad it is hard to get out there. This has been a pretty mild winter, but there are days. I try not to count the calories from my excercise into my daily intake calories, but sometimes I do, my usual indulgence is alcohol, I am sure that if I stopped drinking I…
  • I was at my goal two years ago. 5'10", 165 lbs. Now I am 10 over that. Using MFP and Fitbit in tandem. It could be worse, I have been heavier than this, the weight just kinda creeps up over time. This time I am trying to stay on top of it. When (not IF, but WHEN) I get back to 165, I might revisit and loose 5 more . it…
  • I treat myself over the weekend, and generally know what I am doing so can kinda plan ahead. That means posting on mfp diary the food intake ahead if time, to see if i can get in a drink or two, and not go over my calories for the day. For me it's not so much the food, but the alcohol, so i stick to vodka and club soda,…
  • It's harder as you get closer to a reasonable weight. I used to weigh myself everyday, that's frustrating, cause I go up and down , better to weigh in once a week, same time same place, to get a more accurate picture. NSV is fitting into a summer dress that was" snug"" last year. I try it on every week or so...I can do it…
  • Congrats on everyone's weight loss, only people who have been through it know how tough it can be. When I quit smoking ( over 28 yrs ago) I thought that was gonna be the toughest thing for me to conquer, but weight loss is different...you have to eat, you can just totally quit eating, and eating is socially acceptable.…
  • What's a mod? Sorry am not sure what that means ( my age must be showing). Trying to loose about 10 pds from Christmas and January holidays. I find that i need to constantly monitor weight. I am 60 yrs old and 5'10 168 pds. Just looking to be healthy, nit a wauf. I want to enjoy life, which includes wine and some…
  • That is impressive airangel59. I try to be here daily, and walk as much as I can. We have finally gotten winter weather here, which makes walking more of a challenge.
  • Keep at it!! I don't know how it really works on the US, but I think that you need certain experience? In Canada, depending what you want, you need to do some public audit experience at an audit firm, if you don't want to do auditing, you need practical experience elsewhere. My first job in acctg was in payroll, most of my…
  • Woke up today, did my regular weigh in. And I am up a pound ..drat!!! Wanted to start the holidays at lowest I have been since the summer. :( . oh well still overall l am down, gotta look at the big picture. Gonna enjoy the next two days, then back on the bandwagon. Happy holidays to everyone. Try to unplug over the next…
  • Imaharidge - I am a retired CPA. ( Canadian ), it is a rewarding career, all of your hard work will pay off in the end, good luck with your nyr.
  • I usually have Christmas at my place, so I get to make sure there is plenty of good protein and veggies for snacking. Honestly, I would rather eat another chicken breast than a brownie. Any calorie overage is going to be from alcohol. Yesterday I walked over 20,000 steps!!!! Just doing as much as I can before the big food…
  • Alcohol is my downfall. If I cut it out it is easier to loose weight, but sometimes....you know.....
  • I wish I could knit. used to watch my mom knit all the time, and took it for granted, now she's gone, and I can't pass the knit torch to my daughter, cause I never bothered to learn. I am 60, 5'10', cw 168, sw 221. It has been a long journey to get here, would like to loose a but more, but I am happy I am now in the…
  • Don't quit, you won't feel any better, just more disappointed. I know no one who is on track all of the time. It's called being human. Forgive yourself.
  • You are so right. I am not a big Mac person. But I do love my pizza and beer occassions. Next day blob city. I guess as long as I don't do it every day, and save it for special occasions. You know that saying..." Nothing tastes as good as thin feels"
  • Sizes have gotten bigger over the years. It is well known that Marilyn Monroe wore a size 12!!! She would be like a 6 now. LOL I am 5 '10" , 168 pounds. Fit into size 10 jeans if they are sized fit tall, otherwise 12.
  • All you guys are awesome!!! It looks like the common denominator to success is to keep at it, and to regularly check your touch points as to not stray much. I am within two pounds of my goal weight right now, and over the last year, within 10, plus or minus at any given time. Sometimes I am not as disciplined as others,…
  • Been using a fitbit flex since October, got it as a bday present from my daughter. I was hesitant but LOVE it. I have list around 10 pounds using fit bit, and syncing to mfp. I think mfp gas the best fiid database, and it is easier to diarize food in mfp, which summarizes in fitbit. My challenge is I am a fair weather…
  • I hated trying on clothes. I was wearing stuff that was too small, or out of date cause I didn't want to spend the money on new ones and look like a blob in them. Being overweight was ALWAYS on my mind, and my reminder was every mirror I looked in. I started to avoid having my picture taken. There was no real last straw,…

  • I've done both, quitting smoking, and Loosing weight. While they both present challenges, the latter presents more of an issue because eating is necessary, you are changing your habits towards eating, vs eliminating the habit as is with smoking. It takes time, grinning chick, but eventually there will be days that go by…
  • My husband does the grocery shopping...it has been his job for years. This is a good thing, cause I don't get tempted to buy stuff like potato chips, and he will NEVER buy them, unless I ask. Also, he has learned to read labels, which is really cute when he comes home and tells me about all the good things he has bot for…
  • I have been an on again, off again member of WW for almost all my life. My first time I went I was in my early 20's...I am now 60. I have reached "goal" and " lifetime " twice while on the WW plan. I am not slamming the WW plan, it is just that I think it is great for when you want to loose weight, but there is little…
  • About 15 years ago, my friend and I went through a weight loss journey and both of us lost 50 pounds ( see above..this is one of two times I reached goal through weight watchers) Both of us gained all (and more ) of it back, but the difference was I chose to get back on the bandwagon, and get healthy again, and she didn't.…
  • I love your post. I am basically trying to do the same things you are, sometimes I fail, but try to average out with successes on the plus side. I find weighing myself everyday helps. It sounds excessive, but it works for me. MFP is a lifesaver also. I successfully became a lifetime member at weight watchers... TWICE...the…
  • I turned 60 in October, and my daughter got me a zip. I was skeptical, another gadget. But I LOVE it. Best gift ever!!!! <3 . I am walking over 10k a day ( usually), and I have gotten back to a normal bmi range!!!! I use mfp food tracking and sinc it with fitbit...works for me.
