Was away for a week and only up 2 pounds - happily back home prepping healthy food today. Hummus, veggie sticks, and salad in the fridge, beets and boiled eggs on the stove. I'll go for a run today too, as it was far too hot in Nevada to run outdoors for this Canadian.

I'm in :). I just need to figure out how to book mark this thread so I can find it again :).

Went shopping today for some evening clothes for a night out on the town. Took a bunch to the changeroom, only to realize that I was a size smaller than before. Had to find a bunch of new clothes to try on. AND the dress I did buy...is still a little too big. A happy problem!

Way to go! Did you find exercise helped with your depression? I'm down 20, and exercise was key to managing my mood, as well as my weight!

I love gratitudes :). Today I am grateful that I went for a jog, and that I cut a minute off my mile. I'm grateful I was firm with my daughter and dragged her to Michaels with me (oh the horror!).

Hey tmbg1, mine is slower than when I was younger too...but I figure I am making permanent changes and will not, ever, gain back the weight. So - stick with it! Give yourself a longer timeframe but commit to tracking and increasing your physical activity. After a month, you will see changes. I'm at month three and my…

Way to go (and love the beard!)

You look amazing and a decade younger!

Logging even when I eat outside of my plans (that pint of Ben and Jerry's while on vacation). Hitting the treadmill even when I was tired. Fitting into a size L with room to spare!

Way to go, and what a great role model for you students! You look fabulous!

Way to go! I love seeing folks with different challenges being healthy. I have AS, and may need mobility assistance some day. You'll be my inspiration to stay fit!

Yes, there is a difference! Congrats

I plan for indulgences - so they aren't cheating :).

I feel great about myself and my mood has improved (just wrote a blog post about it!). http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/heathergetshealthier/view/on-healthy-minds-and-bodies-and-timing-750496

Been at this since mid-April. My new habits - daily physical activity (thank you Fitbit! you keep me motivated to crush those 11,000 steps) - logging everything that goes into my mouth (thank you myfitnesspal for making this easy) - focusing on long term sustainable change and being happy with my body (yay me! and thank…

You have to start where you are. Beating yourself up will not help. Take today as the first day of the rest of your life, and start building healthy habits that will stead you in the long run. MFP is a great start. Log everything! Being aware of calories in is a great place to start. Add a bit of daily physical activity…

I think that is an oversimplification liftng4lis :). There are a lot of different approaches you could follow, what I find works well for me is 1) track everything 2) aim to include protein in most of your meals/snacks and 3) focus on veggies (and a lesser degree fruits). I try to keep my carbs to a minimum - this means…

Way to go!

Being able to run a 5K. Basic goal, but I'll be proud to meet. I'm never going to be able to be a heavy runner due to some health issues, but I think I can shoot for 5K if I am careful.

Really helpful, thanks! A question I was having as well :)
-
Thanks both! Really appreciate the advice. Incidentally, I was tired Wednesday, so I spent a night on the couch (and only did 6K steps the entire day!). Yesterday, I did 30 minutes of speed intervals at level 4 on my treadmill - and it was a beautiful, inspiring work out. During the highest intensity intervals felt like I…

Remember that it also depends on what your starting weight is. The heavier you are to start, the easier it is to lose weight because your body burns more calories (because you body needs a certain amount of "fuel" per pound to keep you going and if the pounds go down, so does the calorie need).
