If it's too stressful to go "all in" right from the start, there's no problem with taking baby steps until you get to a LCHF level that you are comfortable with. This is a lifestyle change that you need to make sure you can live with from now on. Start by cutting what carbs you can (junk food, potatoes, soda, corn, bread,…

Cheese, deli meat, hard boiled eggs made before and stored for "whenever", leftovers, low carb smoothies, bullet proof coffee, yogurt with some berries. Hope that helps. :)

I like this. Thank you!

Congrats!

No thyroid here anymore and LC has helped me to lose 42 lbs. so far. It's not always easy, nor is it as fast as I'd like it to be...but it's something I know I have to do.

The most important thing at the moment is your health. Read everything you can on hypothyroidism. Write down all your symptoms to take to the doctor, along with any questions you may have. If you are diagnosed as being hypo but don't think you are being treated properly for it, seek another doctor. Being hypothyroid…

The kind I get is called fried pork skins.

Arete, you have inspired me to not worry about the scale much anymore. WOW! The difference is simply astounding! Great job!!!! And Drawn...you look like you've lost a heck of a lot more than 35 lbs. Amazing! *sigh* I need to get some pics taken so I can see the difference when the time comes.

I've been interested in this as well but haven't tried it yet. I'll be watching this for feedback also.

Yeah, if your doctor hasn't bothered to check if you could be pre-diabetic, I think I'd be looking for a second opinion as well. Good luck!

Hi, looney! I do "lower" carb but not super low. If you want to test it out (and after breastfeeding is over), you can always slowly start lowering your carbs bit by bit and just see if you find a spot where you feel comfortable. And if you seem to binge when bored and/or sad, atleast you are aware of when and why it…

Hi, jkjkmc! It can be a struggle (there at the moment myself), but hang in there.

I hear ya, @editorgrrl. Every time something goes haywire, I'm wondering what issue is causing this symptom. Can get rather frustrating. Thanks for sharing that article, Karen. I've cut down on my carbs a lot and it's made me feel quite a bit better as well. :)

Thanks, Karen.

Hi, Kristina! I live in Illinois now, but was born in IN and that's where all my family still live. I still call it home after all these years. :) Friend request coming your way.

I'm so glad I joined this group. I can read each post, agree with almost each one and not feel so alone. That in itself is a comfort.

I told my endo I'd like to try NDT and he nearly shouted at me, "Absolutely not! All my patients who have had cancer take Synthroid because it keeps the cancer from coming back." Uhhh...excuse me? It's a hormone replacement drug, not a miracle cure.
-
LOL @ being your own doctor. I've basically been doing the same, especially since the endo I was seeing got mad at me and told me to feel free to find another doctor.
-
I've joined and read through a couple of threads, but have not posted there yet.

I can't really help you out at the moment, but I can offer to be a guinea pig. LOL I just restructured my CICO, which has included some Atkins shakes and Nature Valley protein bars. I have no clue if it will help me or make things worse than what they were, but time will tell.......

At the moment, I'm still in a state of confusion. Go figure... LOL I have no thyroid and am not sure if my thyroid medicine is at an optimal level, or if maybe some adrenal fatigue is playing a role as well. Finding a doctor to REALLY help me get to the core issue has been impossible so far, so I've been trying to plow…

I just read Stop the Thyroid Madness and it talks about a saliva test to check your cortisol levels...and you can order it online, do the 24 hr. test then mail it back to obtain the results. I've been thinking about it, just haven't pulled the trigger yet. Is the Go Nutrients Adrenal Edge something you can buy over the…

Wonderful progress!!!

Hang in there, Twibbly. You'll get it figured out.

Nice to see some people coming around again. :) Congrats on the baby, @Vanyahiril! And I need to keep my motivation going as well, @Agkerrick. Rough at times, isn't it?

@FaithMathias, I have seen some low carb ice cream recipes around the internet but, sorry to say, haven't paid enough attention to know exactly how they are made. Maybe some heavy whipped cream/berry fruit mixture then frozen? The thing that really makes me smile from seeing all these pics is how much younger everyone…
