  • I like canned tuna quite a lot. When I can I splurge and get the kind packed in olive oil, I like the taste and texture much better. Like the op, I actually prefer cooking canned tuna, though I like it cold in salads too. Here are two great recipes:…
  • Red wine, dark chocolate, popcorn, candied ginger... :) stuff with a lot of flavor so that a little bit is satisfying
  • The mayo clinic has a bunch of cookbooks out, they are pretty good for health food ;)
  • Tea, popcorn, trader Joe's honey wheat pretzel sticks (10 for 100 cal). Whatever you do though, good god don't bring money for the vending machine, it is eeeeeeeevil
  • Cool, that sounds really good. I love to use pomegranate syrup in marinades but I've never used it in salad dressings :)
  • The website is great, I haven't checked out the book yet. I love the approach :)
  • Lots of great advice here, I while heartedly support the using the library, taking a cooking class, etc. Another great resource - YouTube has thousands of video cooking tutorials :). I would recommend investing in just two or three good tools, so you aren't hampered by your equipment. One really good knife that feels good…
  • Green tea ;) I actually keep a lot of different kinds of tea at my desk at work, caffeinated and non, really helps me stay hydrated and also keeps me from snacking - there's enough flavor that I feel I'm getting something. Ginger tea (hot water, slice of fresh ginger, a bit of honey) is also just the best if you are…
  • :) definitely the best way to have a s'more! Some of my friends also like spreading nutella on the graham cracker also
  • I've been pretty terrible at posting here, but I've actually been making bento boxes almost every day for lunch for the past two weeks. They've been working really great for balancing portion control with feeling satisfied. Also been getting lots of attention in the break room ;) I have been taking photos, so here are just…
  • Delicious healthy spinach dip: two cans white beans, 3 gloves garlic (or more to taste), pack of thawed frozen spinach. Process till creamy, add salt to taste
  • Good to know. I haven't really kept up with the developments since I was diagnosed back in college. My biggest problems are focus/distraction :)
  • I am ADD too (no H, for which I am greatful). I have found that setting a time in the evening (9:30-10 for me) and prepping all my food for the next day really, really helps. I set a reminder on my phone to go do it. Breakfast is usually a yogurt and coffee for me, sometimes overnight oats. Lunch - I make bento lunches,…
  • Check out the bento lunch thread, almost everything there is portable and doesn't need reheating :)
  • I also love coffee with lots and lots of milk. At home I cold brew my coffee, because regular coffee gives me heartburn from the acid. I take a tumbler, fill it about 1/3 with cold brew coffee concentrate, then 2/3s with 1% milk. Delicious!
  • roast them! or add to spinach salad
  • Anova sous vide cooker Rice cooker Microplane grater Silicon edged tongs Santoku knife Pressure cooker Food processor Immersion blender I could keep going for a long time, but those I would be really, really sad without. I really like cooking :)
  • I ended up packing today's bento in 10 minutes before work (oh, i'll leave it for the morning, plenty of time/oh crap oh crap get out the door, so picture goes up late ; ). It wasn't very pretty but it was very, very tasty. Got my game together tonight, so tomorrow's is packed and ready Today's bento: Sandwich bento! Big…
  • For big crowds that include picky eaters (aka most of my friends ;), I love doing taco-bar style meals. Chop all your veg ahead of time, cook the meat and beans, cool everything and put it in an ice chest. When it's time to eat, reheat the beans and meat (stovetop or microwave), set out the bowls of veg and warm the…
  • I really like grilling zucchini, or broiling in the oven. Grilled or broiled leftover zucchini is also a great sandwich or wrap filling, sliced thin and sprinkled with salt/pepper/balsamic vinegar. Fresh corn - boil or microwave, then slice off the kernals. Mix with diced shallot, tomatoes and chiffonaded basil, feta (if…
  • Hi all! So, I found this thread about a week ago, obsessively read through it and now am ready to start bento-ing! You all have been massively inspirational, and in particular thank you to whoever posted the instant miso soup recipe, I've taken that in my lunch twice in the last week. I was already familiar with the…
