I am 49 and 5 years ago I lost 105lbs in 8 months, but gained 60lbs back. Now with menopause it IS harder to lose. I've had to cut calories more this time. And even with the extra 60lbs I have kept my activity level the same. So it is purely hormone imbalance.

That is awesome! But I have lost 105lbs in 8 month's eating ALL my exercise calories. I was anorexic in high school, so slashing calories is easy, but it has to be healthy and maintainable.

I recommend more exercise and yes eat all those extra calories. I also recommend not wasting them on junk food that doesn't fill you up. Nobody can maintain a lifestyle that is going to leave you hungry every night.

I started at 250 and lost 105lbs in 8 months and kept it off 2 years, before getting depressed and gained 60lbs back. I started walking, then running now I bike. What worked for me was exercise and yes I eat every one of those bonus calories!

I ride everyday! Your bum gets used to it. I even refuse to wear padded cycling shorts, I prefer a running skirt when I ride.

I find running surpresses my appetite but cycling will make me feel like I'm starving! Try to eat foods that will fill you up like fiber and protein and opt out of that fudge sundae you think you deserve.

I'm at n+1=s already with only two bikes. S for separation if I get another bike! But I have my buddy who owns a bike shop looking for a pretty green mountain bike for me, so I can ride all winter.

I've been married 27 very long years. My husband thinks I exercise to much and should stay home and cook him dinner, yet he has ran 7 marathons? (Hard to be a single parent these days!)

I've done atkins in the past, I now just cut the junk food! Think high fiber, low carb when choosing what I eat. Really is more what they recommend for diabetics. I have lost 105lbs kept it off two years. But the real key to losing was the exercise! Walk, run, zumba or bike, every day I can!

I have been anorexic and yes there is a starvation mode! When I first started MFP it kept telling me I was going into starvation mode, so I decided to trust it and ate a piece of pie and the next day I dropped 5lbs. I always count ALL my exceise calories. I lost 105lbs eating myself thin! Plus I put myself as active!

I read a book once called, Diets Don't Work, claiming the best way to gain weight is to go on a diet, restrict calories for two weeks then go off it. You ALWAYS gain the weight back plus some. He claimed it worked for every client he had that wanted to gain weight. Yo-yo dieting!
