Hello! I’m 52, just outside Chicago, mom of two teenage daughters. I like the accountability of weighing in. Right now, I’m up about 5-6 pounds from holiday binging. Currently doing Dry January—3rd year in a row, hard but worth it! I’m a yogi who just started—wait for it—JAZZERCISE! It’s great! Going on a couples beach…

This is my third year doing Dry January! December is always brutal for me because I take vacation the last three weeks and my liver gets a daily workout! Usually the first week of Dry January is tough...especially the first weekend...but it’s worth it. Getting ready to drink some Sleepytime tea in front of the fire right…

I don’t eat low carb but I do try to avoid a lot of processed and filler foods and that ends up being less carbs.
-
It’s tough, because I was raised to “clean my plate” and not waste food, but at the holidays, I have to give it away or throw it away. If it’s here, I nibble.

Coming at this from a different angle. It sounds like the hard part is WHEN you want to work out...That hour or so when you leave work/pick up kids/get home and try and do dinner/baths is ROUGH. It's also when kids are hungry and overstimulated and parents are at low-energy from working all day. What if you adjusted your…

weeks ^^ THIS! Wine is very dehydrating...It helps me lose! Not a good long term strategy though!

This is frustrating. I have teenagers so we have lots of fun carby goldfish, cheezits, cheetoes and chips...ALL the time! For me, they're triggers---one chip and I'll finish half the bag in 10 minutes. So...I stay away. It's not easy, and it's not natural, but then it becomes a contest with myself...and I want to win!…

Happened to me yesterday. Closed the fitbit app, turned off my phone and voila---back in business! It is aggravating, though! :-)

My teenage daughter was losing weight and hair---along with a bunch of other issues---and she ended up having thyroid disease---hyperthyroid, now officially diagnosed with Graves disease. Doctor visit and some blood work and you'll get answers...good luck.
-
So....I can speak for my daughter's experience. She was hyperthyroid, and was losing weight while eating a good amount. She took methimazole - she has Grave's disease - and eventually became hypo. She was still eating the same amount of calories, so she gained weight. She's now adjusted her eating to her new metabolism and…

Agree with others! You need to map out your day...Pre-log and stick to it. Plannng and knowing what you’re going to eat will keep you from making spur of the moment choices that push you over.

Me! Started about 5 years ago, got serious three years ago, with classes twice a week, then got hooked in January on Yoga with Adriene and the Beachbody yoga options. I work out at home now...and I love the flexibility. I like all the warrior poses. I’m thinking of doing some studio sessions, just to spice it up. Yoga has…

You look amazing already! I toned up significantly through yoga and Pilates, and eating super healthy...lean protein, no red meat, for about six months
-
Don’t. Go brush your teeth. Chew on something. Avoid activities where you would normally smoke. Quitting is HARD. And worth it.
-
Omg... thank you all so much! Lots of great ideas and links to browse through!
-
I keep telling myself that I’m going to do this but at 5:30, I’m like nope, not gonna happen! I admire your dedication!
-
There's nothing I'm NOT eating, but I have seriously reduced the amount of bread, pasta and rice....
-
Great concept...and probably pretty easy to put into practice. I feel like Americans have been brainwashed to plan meals around the meat---

Don’t be afraid of medication. If you had high blood pressure or diabetes, you’d take something for it. Crippling depression is the same. See your doctor. They can offer something that will help. And yes, exercise—-especially by water—-is great. Hugs.

1200 to 1600---starting maintenance
-
Yes. And I always take the lower number!

The turkey slices should be in MFP data base
-
Yeah, I wish MFP had a few different calorie options for yoga. I do a lot of YWA, and it gives me 70 calories for 30 minutes. I log it!

Grilled lamb....already cut into cubes, marinated and ready to be skewered, with awesome garlic sauce, roasted red potatoes and carrots, pepper salad, green bean casserole. Homemade blueberry cheesecake and white cupcakes.

A Samoa, a Thin Mint, Trefoil or Tagalong! Sooooo glad that Cookie Season is over! I bought more boxes outside the grocery store this year than ever before! So good...and I’m sure soon eńough they will have a GF option!

Ha! I'd go with your last sentence! It's a treat---and usually pretty $$$---so eat and enjoy, and try not to overstuff!
