50 to lose? From that starting point you can lose a lot just on 2000 cals a day. I would forget the unnecessary deadline and work out the maintenance calories for your target weight, then just eat that and be patient. If you have any aspiration of maintaining your desired weight when you get there, then you may as well get…

Mine has always been about 50, whether I've been doing cardio several times a week, or doing nothing for months. There seems to be no benefit in having a naturally low hr though.

Still, credit to him for not hitting the steroids like rourke, Jackman, whalburg (building 13 kg of muscle in 8 weeks - come on)

We're just tuned out to bad teeth, and don't notice so much. Have seen some bad teeth in the US too though, among poorer people, but everyone middle class and above seem to have great teeth. Some teeth just look too white though, and ridiculous.

Stop going to Tesco, either got to aldi and lidl where crisps and snack are awful and you won't be tempted, or go to Waitrose where they're too expensive (and feel better about yourself for supporting an employee owned business). Seriously though, I find it easiest not to calorie count most of the time, and just have three…

Wow, never knew so many people didn't like it on its own, I've had it all my life and can eat it straight, but then of course my dad is Scottish

It's great for beginners, and feel free to tailor it a bit for your own goals - don't listen to Mehdi's " my way or the highway " nonsense, there isn't a one size fits all routine

100g is not low protein, it's high for most people who aren't training, and you could probably drop it down to 70g a day and maintain muscle.

glad all these non-brits enjoy watching shows whose production british residents like myself have to pay for with our TV license - nice to see my £13 a month is making people around the world happy :) I got really annoyed by their olympics coverage though, far too much focus on british athletes.

Feta cheese with olives - that really hits the spot.

Best advice these days seems to be to lift weights that have you in the 4-6 rep range (failing on last rep), which looks like what you are doing already. You don't mention your diet beyond saying you're at maintenance. It's possible you're over-training and not eating enough. Some things you could try if you haven't…

Only problem with sugar is its easy to go over your daily calorie requirement with it, especially from drinks. Complex carbs fill you up more and a harder to overconsume.
-
You could say that about anything though

One word: Periodization

The main downside I see to squats (and deadlifts) is that they soak up a lot of energy (during work out and recovery), meaning less for muscle groups that aren't involved in these exercises (chest, triceps, biceps, deltoids) - the ones most guys are interested in focusing on.

I know the feeling, no easy answers unfortunately, one thing I do try to ensure is that any between meal snacks are as low calorie and satiating as possible. Also tea -any kind- can be your friend.

I chose to accept the belly fat, better to look good dressed.

I can relate to that, I have the choice of either a flat stomach and everyone (especially my mother) asking me if I'm sick (because of thin face), or an inch of flab round the waist and look 'healthy'. There is one solution which is lipo, which is frowned upon in these forums, but if money was no object I might like to get…

Good on you, I try to be vegan most days for environmental/carbon footprint reasons, but do include some organic dairy which I like to think is at least less bad (may not be, but I like to think that it is).

A sincere, happy to see you smile

I suffer from a mental illness I call 'chronic satisfaction' it prevents me from running marathons, getting to the top at work, making millions, and of course achieving a six pack. Still I'm the least stressed person I know, so it has its benefits. I did try reading the bible once, got half way though the old testament,…

I've known people who've had it, they said it helped them in the short term, but they are still fat - so not a silver bullet

Yes, it does work the back too. I would get advice from your doctor on what exercises are safe for you to start with.

Only things I count are calories and protein. Eat what you want otherwise and let carbs and fats take care of themselves. Only obsessives worry about proportion of carbs/fats.
-
Some good points here. I'm a big proponent of eating the calories for maintaining your target weight (not less in an effort to get there faster), and exercising at a frequency you can sustain in the long term. Fat loss will be slower, but you'll be getting used to eating the amount of food you need to eat to stay your…

It is a pain weighing everything all the time. My advice is to weigh things just one day a week, and use your own judgment the other days. The weekly 'weighing' day will catch any portion creep before it becomes a problem. Some other rules of thumb I've read about are a portion not being more than a handful, also looking…

I know two people at work who've 'quit' sugar (with no medical reason - purely in the the hope to lose weight), and guess what, they are still fat.

Probably illegal yep. Still learning to drink responsibly from a young age under adult supervision is important, otherwise what happens when the child comes across a bottle of whiskey when they are alone?
