I absolutely go to maintenance or even over when I "need" to. I know some people like the "if you're going over your calories you must not want to lose weight badly enough" philosophy. I tried that, and this way works way better for me.

That it takes so much damn patience. Can't I just get the body I want now, and then do the work? I promise I'm good for it! Also that it's so hard to be objective about what the right weight is. You can't listen to other people because they all have their own motives (conscious/unconscious, overt/covert) about how they…

Richard Hittleman's 28 Day Exercise Plan It's a yoga book, but there's a lot more to it than that. It's about respecting your body, bringing mindfulness to movement and food, and more. It's really dated, but I kind of like the old school vibe. I've purchased several copies over the years because I keep giving mine away :)

Nice work, you look terrific! I also think you look adorable in your before picture, but in the after picture you look like a person who will be fit and healthy for the rest of her life. Good for you!

How often do you weigh yourself? I once gained 8 lb in two days after a backpacking trip, but it went away almost immediately. On my weight chart it's just a solitary little blip. At the time it was pretty demoralizing, though.

This made my tear up. So. F-ing. Awesome. <3

How often do you weigh in? Your weight may be trending down even if you happen to weigh the same today as you did two months ago. Have you adjusted your intake to account for your lighter self? Now that you weigh less, you need to eat fewer calories to stay at a deficit. Are you close to your goal? Maybe it's time to start…

I think I decided it was working the first time I saw my face in the mirror and the first thing I noticed was my eyes, not my jowls.

Hooray for slow and steady!

This is going to sound silly and kind of wrong at first, by hear me out. The dance coach in Bring It On said "Imagine what you usually eat. Now divide that in half. This is called a diet." Obviously, those girls didn't need to go on diets, dieting that way can be harmful, especially for teenagers, etc, etc, but it kind of…

I'm kind of turned off by the word "movement" but otherwise, I'm pro hair. I'm pretty lazy and way against arbitrary double standards. If a dude with hairy pits doesn't catch *kitten* for not "taking care" of himself or being "unclean" then why should a chick? No reason, that's why. It's not like our sweat is somehow "hair…

Ezekiel toast with jam, tea with soymilk, tofurky sandwich with nayonaise and lettuce, banana, peanut butter and vegemite sandwich and one hard candy. I don't usually eat six pieces of ezekiel in a day... it's just a sandwich kind of day, I guess.

I confess I almost never watch less than a half season of a show per sitting. Unless it's Call the Midwife, in which case I watch the latest episode every week and then have a little tantrum that there won't be any more for seven whole days.

Woo Hoo!

You could try reducing your goal intake a little. That'll give you more of a buffer to appease the "you must be mis-measuring" crowd. (And assuage any doubts you might have in that direction.) Plus, three weeks? Meh. I'd give it time. As long as you're neither utterly miserable because you're hungry all the time and you're…

A surgeon suggests surgery? Shocker. :) Awesome that the people close to you are so supportive. Welcome back. <3

Wow!

Nice! Keep it up. I'm on the slow train, too.

I just recently heard of trendweight.com and so far it's been the thing that most helps me have a healthy relationship with my scale. I record my morning weight every day and the app calculates a trend. So when, for example, I suddenly gained 7 pounds one day, it still reported that I was loosing at a rate of 1.3 lb per…

As others have mentioned, you may feel hungrier. That's not nothing. Counting calories may be just what you need to make sure you're eating the right amount for your weight loss plan. If you count on strategies that may have worked for you in the past, like just eating a little less than you want, you might gain weight.…

I've spent some time with people of a few different cultures with different norms around communicating offers. Sometimes it's hard to tell if someone is saying "no thank you" just to be polite, and they (I) want to make sure their guests know that yeah, I'm really offering, you should take some if you want it, I'd love for…

Step One: Notice that you're not hungry. Check. Step Two: Do something besides eat. :) Some things I've done that actually help me move on from the urge to snack are a hot shower, a walk, reading, writing, knitting, and (ahem) sex, etc. Snacking on veggies never did it for me, and chewing gum only helps me hold off eating…

The side-of-the-arm muscles, especially in worn out t-shirts with shortish sleeves so they cut right across the muscles and the soft/strong thing starts going on. Also compliments. I'm uncomplicated that way, lol.

Nice! I just passed day 50 and boy, you're sure outpacing me :) You're doing great, keep it up!

So... did you call him? I'm dying to know how it goes.
