I started pretty heavy but changed my diet - didn't count but ate healthier and weighed some items for portion control. Also was lifting 3-4 times a week, not challenging myself with weights but getting into it again. Started at 182 and probably lost almost 8-10 lbs first month because I was so heavy for my size

When I'm cooking on a budget I get whatever type of lean meat is on sale (ground beef or turkey, chicken breast or thighs), with a plethora of frozen vegetables to save $, then sometimes some rice. Add hot sauce, greek yogurt, seasoning and/or salsa to give it some flavor. Very simple to count, can get a little boring

One change I try to make is consuming a lot more calories from vegetables. Eating for volume instead of just caloric goals can be really useful to some when it comes to fullness. I agree with the measuring statement. You create a habit with a few exceptions and thats the best I personally can do, and it works. I am also loose with counting vegetables. If I eat two cups of spinach and count 1 because I misjudged it, or broccoli/tomatoes for that matter, at the end of the day I'm eating vegetables…

40 pounds is an amazing feat! And so is eating 1600 cal/day while having personal struggle with ED! You should only be proud of yourself and know that some ignorant guy can't take it from you! I would also personally nudge my significant other and expect some backup from a comment like that
