I started with a Fitbit flex in 2014 and it motivated me to train for a half marathon! I upgraded to Charge HR last Christmas (gift) and liked the phone call alerts. I have about 15 friends in my Fitbit community and we do workeek challenges to see who can get the most steps in. It often motivates me to get moving even…

My goal is 10,000 steps per day but I don't always hit it. I average about 9,000/day. I track with Fitbit Charge HR.

I like mine because having a step goal and competitions with friends motivates me to be active when I would rather just sit. Though the con is that Fitbit isn't always good at tracing non-step exercise.
-
I log because it helps me to be motivated to get back on track after. I don't want my weight loss to take away from the enjoyment of life so I think it's okay to break out of the routine once in a while. I don't beat myself up.

If you haven't already go to your doctor and ask to have your thyroid checked.

Congratulations!!! I would recommend planning ahead for non-food ways to manage urges to smoke. Find an activity to distract your hands and mind and the craving will usually pass within 5 minutes.

So sorry to see you're dealing with a stressful situation. I hope there is someone in your life you can reach out to. There is some good advice up above. Be careful with St Johns Wort if you take any prescription meds, it can interact. Ask a pharmacist if you're not sure. Take care of yourself.

There are a wide variety of meds for diabetes, but nothing magical. It is true insulin can be adjusted to accommodate for what you eat to get your blood sugar to goal, but it will lead to weight gain unless you change your lifestyle ((healthy diet and exercise).

If you do eat out, try looking up the menu ahead of time online (when you're not starving) and make a healthy choice. Then stick to it when you actually order. But meal planning and cooling at home is great too. It also saves $$.

I weigh daily but don't worry about fluctuations. I base by progress on my weekly average. It helps me stay motivated.

I work full time and have 4 kids ages 5 to 10 and I'm always looking for mom friends to share ideas and motivation.

Me! I'm eating some cheese right now.

If you have heart disease there is a lot of evidence that using a statin prevents recurrence of heart disease. It is best to stay on it if this is the case unless you cannot tolerate it. If that's true you could ask to switch to a different med in that family. If what you have is not considered heart disease, ask about…

Instead of using water I make mine with skin or almond milk. If I don't use the sweetened almond milk, I add brown sugar. Sometimes I add bananas or blueberries.

Congratulations on starting your journey! Take it one day at a time.

Huskers. GBR!

So sorry to hear about the medical scare! The important thing is that you are getting the right medical treatment! Eating well and exercise are also great ways to prevent future problems.

Do you have access to a registered dietician? Some grocery stores have one on staff and they may be a better resource for answering your questions.

I definitely need breakfast every day. I was deprived of fun sugar cereal as a child so I do treat myself now sometimes. I like cereals higher on the fiber side because I don't feel hungry as quick. I enjoy Quaker Oat Squares, Raisin Nut Bran, Golden Grahams. I will definitely try the weekly oatmeal prep suggested above.

I know how hard it is to be active with a desk job. Walking twice a day is a great start! Do you drink anything with sugar? Sometimes cutting out pop and juice can have a big impact on your blood sugar. Good luck!

I talked to a guy the other day that said he was going to use Pokemon go as a distraction to help him quit smoking!

I like mine and it has motivated me to become more active. Tracking my pace also motivated me to train for a half marathon last year. It syncs well with MFP as well.

I want mom friends too!!! I have 4 kids ages 10, 9, 8, and 4. I want to trade ideas on meal prep to keep my whole family healthy!

Try to pick one or two changes that you can commit to long term and once those things become habit it will be easier to make other changes.

I like scrambled on toast. I eat the yolks because I don't want to waste them and I feel like they can be part of a healthy diet.

Personally I like working out in the morning before my day gets to busy but when I do exercise later in the day I have more energy and can be a little more intense. I think it is personal preference, but I would find a time you can fit into a regular routine.
