Weighing yourself?

How often do you weigh yourself? I'm trying to weigh myself at least once every week.

Daily for me. I like the daily ups and downs and resulting graph happiness.

I do daily, first thing in the morning. It helps me monitor my monthly cycles so I don't freak out if I am up 2 pounds one day. As long as I trend downward. It's really up to you. Most people do weekly or monthly. Just make sure you do it at the same time of the day and with similar weighing clothes.

I've been doing daily for the past 2 years, but recently changed to every 3 days.

Every morning first thing. I log it and track my seven day average. Your daily weight will bounce around quite a bit, don't let it bother you.

Daily, am and pm. I record on a sheet of paper. It helps tie in what I ate/exercised the day before with the changes in my body. If it starts to trend up, then I evaluate what is it that's causing it. Kind of fun. Every 10 lbs, I will take a picture. It's fun for me.

I started out weighing in every day. In the morning, wearing just my underwear and after I've done my business. But now I know my trends and patterns, I probably weigh 3/4 times a week. Although for some reason I only take my Monday morning reading seriously and log that. The others are just to see that I'm on track iykwim?

NOT AT ALL ...yup...59 days of logging in and I'm down a size and getting smaller without weighing myself or logging my food. I decided this time I'm going make it my way.
I dot want to log and weigh and measure each and every bite of food I eat. I know what I need to do..so I'll just do it. As for weighing.. I will at some point.. I just wanted to get off to a firm fabulous start and not give that self sabotage monster a bit of ammunition to thwart my goals just because I don't lose as fast as i think i should.

side note.. i for sure would weigh each week once at goal so it doesn't creep back on...

Daily..it just seems to help you understand your body better and how weight fluctuates. I log my "official weight" every Monday a.m.

I weigh weekly on Sundays. I don't have time every morning to hit the scale. Plus, I don't want to see the number go up temporarily and start my day off badly.

I weigh daily but don't worry about fluctuations. I base by progress on my weekly average. It helps me stay motivated.

I will admit to weighing myself several times per day. I am fascinated by the tiny (or big) ups and downs and how they relate to what I ate, drank, or worked out. I'm also not devastated when I see a high number because I know it will inch down over the next couple of days. I love the data! When I was first diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, I tested my blood sugar several times per day, and learned a lot.

The number I use as my "official" weekly weight is what I see on Thursday morning.

It's just a number and has no emotional overtones to me. I understand my normal fluctuations and can spot developing trends earlier.

    Hi
As the people I quoted I do mine daily like ogtmama mentions and do not forget to weigh wearing the same thing to eliminate that variable.

As Andrea says, I also do not worry about minor fluctuations. It is the overall trend that I take into consideration, especially as I have had as much as a 5 pound weight swing over two days after going with friends to a Chinese Buffet. Mainly Water weight from all the sodium in Chinese food :) It did take a week to get back to where I was that morning of the Buffet. However we all need a break where we can get out to see friends IMO. So I do not begrudge the effort of having to get back down.

I Log my morning weights in a Ledger Book, Yup the old fashioned way. Then If I want to graph it I do not have to enter the weights every day :)

    Good Luck
    Roger

I posted above that I weigh every day and here is a picture to show you why I do this and why I track my 7 day average. The orange line is my daily weight and the blue is my 7 day average. Weight loss is just so far from linear that you can see all kinds of results in your weight. The body retains and loses water, the timing of when you eat, etc. effect so much. ayz1b0yxoe2k.png
