I started running over a year ago, I'm now 44. I'm currently training for my first full. I have done a few 10k's, one half and numerous 5k's. I am slow, slower even than the 80yr old in my run club lol. But I love it and the only one I'm competing against is me.

Try body glide or just deodorant.

Garmin and Strava

Just a note on your ZR5K final run. It's a timed run. You will need to run it for approximately 51 minutes. Even if you complete the 5k in 35 minutes, you need to keep the app going until it tells you you're done. And you can always go for the regular ZR app. There's a 10k training program in there that will help you…

Sorry but you'll lose it where you lose it. You can't target it.

There are 2 apps. The main app Zombies, Run! and the Zombies, Run 5k app. I've run the 5k app twice and find it better for me than a regular c25k (which I could never finish). The main ZR app is incredible and I rarely run without it.

Amazing job!

You can't spot reduce. If you want to work your hips and glutes, I recommend Strong Curves. But the pounds will come off where they come off. Working out a specific area won't change that.

If it bothers you on your run, you can use KT tape on your shin to help.
-
This is excellent advice.

Pretty sure there is a ZR group here but it's not active at all. ZR is great. You can use it for free but I hate waiting for missions as free only allows so many a week so I pay a monthly subscription which is well worth it. There are training modes and interval missions as well in the paid version. Currently I am almost…

Why didn't you start the exercise mode?
-
Actually if you click on the adjustment you'll see it's completely about calories. Not step count.
-
Biggest thing, slow down. You should be able to carry on a conversation. When I first started out I could walk faster than I ran.
-
I just got my Vivo3 and am loving it. The data I get on my runs is far more extensive than Fitbit.
-
Just upgraded to a Garmin from my Fitbit Ionic. Ionic was constantly losing GPS during my runs. Haven't had a single issue with my Garmin and it does everything my Ionic does except store music (I don't use that feature anyway).
-
You can click on the adjustment and it will show you the math
-
Yeah that's because exercise doesn't sync over. Your exercise is accounted for in the calorie adjustment but the actual exercise isn't going to show up.
-
It's not recommended. Your body needs rest.
-
This. If you click on your Fitbit adjustment you can see the math. Your step count is incidental and not a part of the math.
-
As I recall, 10,000 is the default goal. OP probably didn't know it could be changed.

You can do forearm planks. As for alternatives, I do inverted rows. It's a pulling motion instead and works a lot of the same muscles.
-
I like the Under Armour compression tights. They work for both my runs and deads and squats.

I've had arthritis since I was a teenager due to injury to my knees. I started running last year. My arthritis rarely bothers me anymore but when my knees get achy from longer mileage or cold weather, I tape them. KT tape has been a life saver for so many things.

Crows are very intelligent birds. I've heard this from runners and from farmers. Don't piss off the crows.

I'm only a beginner so what do I know, but I think you are way overthinking things. Just run. If I had to think of half of this stuff, I wouldn't enjoy running. But then again, my pace is slower than molasses and not likely to change no matter what training I do.

This is something I struggle with. As an Indigenous woman, I am more at risk to be attacked, taken or murdered. Statistics suck. That said, I live in a community of busy bodies where no one can keep a secret. I routinely have people I barely know tell me that I'm running well or comment on my dedication. Or give…

You will not gain significant muscle in 2 weeks. And not at a deficit as mentioned. My recomendation is a program like Strong Curves. It's geared towards lower body gains. And they have a body weight program that you can add your dumbells to.

Some great advice. I'll second Zombies Run recommendation. It's a wonderful app and I simply hate running without it. I will run further and faster for my Abel township than I will for anything else. You also may want to incorporate some strength training in. It will help build muscle to aid your running.
