@shanaber , @_nikkiwolf_ , yes I used a wrist based HR monitor. Where do you get lab tested?
-
@MobyCarp it must be so frustrating being injured!! @MNLittleFinn that's an interesting insight. Hadn't thought of that. Is there any issue with being in that anaerobic zone for that longer time frame?

Hey everyone...I would appreciate any insight on heart rate, based upon my experience with my long run today. My resting heart rate is 59. I'm a 47 year old female. So my max heart should be 173. For my long runs, according to the runningforfitness.org heart rate chart, I should be in the 127-139 range. My aerobic zone…

@mmteixeira you raise good questions! I'm a newer runner so I'm not sure what my calorie intake should be, as I am also trying to lose weight (down 10 lbs since starting to run 2 months ago). I'm a 47 year old female. My calorie deficit plan for weight loss has me at 1200 calories per day. My exercise calories obviously…

You'll have to look me up if you are back in Hamilton at some point:-)

Thought I'd share a pic from my lunch hour today. I live in Hamilton, Ontario, which spans the upper and lower end of the niagara escarpment. It is steep enough that you can only get to the upper and lower sections of the city by paved mountain access roads or stairs, and some trails. We have five sets of stairs across the…

@Orphia thanks for the link. I've signed up. I ran 111km in September. Upping by 10% would be 120, but I have 5 long run days for October so will stretch my goal to 160km, which would meet the 100 mile virtual challenge. Let the games begin!

Well Friday is a rest day for me as Saturday will be my long run so tonight was my last run of the month. If you'll recall I'm a newbie. Started the beginning of August with a goal to run 30 minutes without stopping. Next goal was to run. 5k without stopping, then a 10k...check and check! Note I referee ice hockey so it's…

@ereck44 sorry to hear about your mom. Perhaps your next race you can run in her honour. @skippysmom I didn't see your post

I just started running the beginning of August so this is all new to me. I've been running about four days a week. As a newbie I haven't been running far so set my initial monthly mileage goal at 40k for the month. I had to up the goal to 80k, and have already surpassed that. Ran my first 10k race (actually my first chip…

Oh and I meant to update that I ran my first ever organised run, for charity. A 5k. This Saturday is my first 10k race, actually my first ever race, and it has chip times. I'm so excited!
