  • He's not part of my fitness routine yet as he's only 10 weeks old, but he'll surely make a great running buddy when he's old enough. I can't wait to take him for long walks, running, hiking, biking and maybe get him into doing Agility. For the time being he's just a great snuggle buddy that loves playtime!
  • Yes! I pre-ordered Sun. It's been years since I got a Pokemon game at launch but Pokemon Go has gotten me back to playing all the games I missed over the last couple of years and now I can't wait to get the new one!
  • Do you weigh everything you put in your mouth, or do you just go by serving size and eyeball the portion sizes? If the last part is true then there lies your problem - you're probably eating more than you think.
  • As I said, it won't count casual walks as exercise. You really gotta be power walking for it to count as exercise. Is that what you were doing? How fast were you going? I've never had a problem with it if I was actually walking fast/breaking a sweat. If I was just walking around doing errands/shopping it would not count,…
  • I'm finding the same thing. I haven't had my Fitbit for that long (have the Charge 2) so I don't have the numbers you have.. but I've had a fitness tracker long enough to know how much I usually burn and Fitbit is about 500 calories above that. In my case the problem is definitely the all-day HR monitor. My HR during…
  • Not really. If you walk fast enough it adds to your active minutes automatically. I never used the workout app for walking, only if I went for a run or bike ride, and I always filled my rings. Has nothing to do with HR either since it doesn't continuously measure it like Fitbit does if you're not in workout mode.
  • I had an Apple Watch for a year and whenever I didn't reach my exercise goal it was because I was walking too slowly and it just didn't count as exercise (as it shouldn't). You still burn calories, but it's not really exercise if you just casually walk around. Pick up the pace a bit and your rings will start to fill up ;)
  • For weight loss you'll only really need to create a deficit, no exercise is strictly necessary. But while losing weight you'll not only lose fat, but also muscle. This is where strength training comes in. If you spend time strength training you'll ensure your muscle loss stays at a minimum. Take it from someone who…
  • You won't burn up all your energy on exercising for 30 minutes, unless you don't eat enough (which is unhealthy). As for motivation, you gotta find that yourself. Find something you like to do, don't just exercise because you *have* to because you'll just find excuses to not do it easily. I found things I enjoy…
  • I think that's normal? Fitbit says my resting heart rate is 60 but that's based on my HR when I sleep. During the day it's moves around between 60-80 when I'm at work (desk job).
  • I actually JUST got back from seeing my new pup. It's a 4-week-old Aussie, so it'll be a while before he can stay with me, but he's so cute I thought I'd share him anyways.
  • Those pants are awesome :open_mouth: , I need 'em!
  • Actually, I think that might be the problem. When I unlinked and relinked my account to try and solve the problem the app was set to not track any steps, so there was no wonder the adjustment didn't show up. After setting it to Fitbit steps and restarting it it started showing up again. I don't think there's any way to…
  • Maybe try to reconnect your accounts then, because it's syncing both ways for me so it seems fixed.
  • Your heart rate can very well be 90 when doing nothing but typing on your phone. It's slightly high but lots of things can affect heart rate, not just physical effort. I do however agree that the calorie burn is very high for a couple of hours of not wearing it.. it should be at BMR during that time, no more. I've also…
  • I would also like to know. I'm getting a dog soon and I saw this one and the Whistle and I'm wondering which one is better and if it's worth getting one at all.
  • There's a problem with the sync atm so it won't be working until they fix it. They're working on it though: http://myfitnesspal.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/2574495--issues-with-fitbit-api-9-19
  • The sync is not working currently, but they're working on a fix: http://myfitnesspal.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/2574495--issues-with-fitbit-api-9-19
  • Not entirely true. Starters come from 2km eggs but take 3km for one candy.
  • I'm also taking my Magikarp out for walks! But yea.. flopping sounds more accurate for whatever he does to get around :P
  • I'm also pretty nerdy! I grew up with mostly guy friends so that might have something to do with it. I'm a webdesigner/developer & love gaming! Feel free to add me, wouldn't mind some more like-minded friends :)
  • Ouch, this is not looking good for me :P The upside of going to the US for my trip is that pretty much all the calorie information is found online, even of restaurants, so it'll be easier to make healthier choices. I don't think it'll be that easy in Taiwan though =/ But as you said, enjoying yourself is the most important…
  • I'm in the same boat in a few weeks, except I'll be gone for 3 weeks. I'm usually pretty active on vacation but this time I'm going on a roadtrip so there'll be lots of times I'll be in the car for most of the day. I'm not going to let the worrying over calories ruin my vacation, so I'm just going to enjoy myself and see…
  • You are a runner because you run, speed has nothing to do with it. I'm not the fastest either (or was, more like, since I haven't been running due to injury) but I still called myself a runner because I got out there. There's nothing wrong with wanting to be faster of course, but being slow doesn't make you any less of a…
  • I followed the 5k training earlier this year to the point I was able to run a full 5k without walking. This was a huge accomplishment for me as when I started I couldn't run for more than 30 seconds. After that I did the first few missions of season 1 and did the Spring Virtual Race. Then I got ill, fainted, hit my head…
  • I ran the spring virtual race this year, it was great! I really wanted to run this one too, but I'm too out of shape because of months of inactiveness. I'll also be on holiday till the end of October with a pretty hefty jetlag when I get back, so I'll be in no shape to run most likely. I am curious how it is though, so do…
  • It could be worse! Everything I need all day, including the bathroom, is within a few steps of my desk, so I can't really find an excuse to get up and move around. The only movement I get during the workday is a short walk at lunch. I get all of my exercise outside of work: I bike to work so that's around 75-80 mins of…
  • 3 minutes is a lot better than where I started, but now I'm able to run a full 5k without walking. Like the others said, a C25K will really help you work your way up to being able to run 5K in a couple of weeks time. I would reccomend using Zombies, Run 5K, which is what I used. It combines a storyline with running drills…
  • It's a great app! I used the 5K training app to learn to run, as before I wasn't even able to run for more than half a minute without being completely out of breath and having to walk again. At the end of the training program I was able to run a full 5K without walking, something I would have never thought possible for me.…
  • Because you burn calories all day long just to stay alive. It's called BMR or Basal Metabolic Rate, and it's the amount of calories you burn when you do absolutely nothing all day long. So from 0.00 till you get up from bed you'll always have some calories burned.
