  • I started slow with exercise. I began my journey with exercising 15 minutes a day. Now, I exercise a lot at a slow pace. For example, I now swim for an hour at a slow pace and do water aerobics for 45 minutes in one day. And, some days I add in walking. I exercise maybe 2 hours a day at a slow pace. I find that exercise…
  • That is awesome! What an incredible story.
  • It's the receptionists that don't let you see the doctor. You need to explain to them that you just went to the ER and it is imparitive that you see the doctor ASAP. Doctors usually always have some wiggle room in their schedule for imparitive appointments. Tell them that you know they have wiggle room. This is honestly…
  • I am not a doctor. Anyone with lower back pain should consult a doctor and a physical therapist. I should have never given advice. I am just an ordinary person. Maybe you should not try this new swimming stroke with back pain. Please talk to your doctor or physical therapist. This advice i gave is stressing me out, i need…
  • @jplay86 you could sign up for a private lesson at the ymca to teach you just this stroke and i bet you could achieve swimming this stroke in just one session. Just an idea. Or maybe you don't want to risk trying something new with your back pain. maybe you should talk to your doctor. Im sorry, i hope i am not doing more…
  • @jplay86 here is a video of the elementary back stroke. https://youtu.be/WPgt7djgloQ I wish i had other suggestions of exercises you could do, but i only swim. I hope this helps. If you don't try it, i understand. Swimming can be a hard sport to learn for anyone. I wish you only the best.
  • I avoid complimenting on weight, unless it is my immediate family member. My immediate family members all talk to each other about weight so I am used to it. As far as other people talking to me about my weight, i just grin and don't care. Right now, strangers have a tendency to think i am pregnant. And they comment about…
  • I want to go to Starbucks everyday too. But for me, the line in the drive thru is always too long. At least, that is my excuse for never going to Starbucks. one day, this excuse won't work for me, if there is no cars in line. Now, i have stopped looking at the drive thru line and just assume it is too busy.
  • Try swimming.
  • @jplay86 i forgot to tell you what stroke that i use on my back that eases lower back pain. It is the elementary back stroke. That is when your arms stay in the water and you do tickle-t-touch with your arms (hands to your leg side, then, move your arms to tickle your arm pits, then, move your arms back to a t position,…
  • Sorry, but I have to put my two cents in. I don't have back problems, but my lower back hurts when I swim. I swim for about 1 to 2 hours a day. After I swim for a long time, it hurts when I twist to breathe with the front crawl and hold my head up to breathe for the breast stroke. I do back streches to make it feel better.…
  • If you have tooth pain or an infection, you have to take care of that first. That may mean no exercise until it heals. As far as boot camp, is it too late to get your money back? I wouldn't do something that made me cry. Find something fun to do for exercise. In order to make exercise a life long habit, you really have to…
  • I exercise in order to eat more and stay under the mfp calorie goal. Good luck to you.
  • I think you are trying to do too much at once. You are eliminating too many things from your diet: "refined sugar free, vegan, gluten free (due to a sensitivity) and soy free." Plus, eat at 1,200 calories. I would binge too. Try taking smaller steps, like eliminating one thing at a time. Then, add more things to eliminate.…
  • Carob is a substitute for chocolate. Just eat chocolate and be happy.

  • Life happens. Don't be so hard on yourself. I do the same thing. It happened so often that I now exercise like crazy (one to two hours a day) so I can have the extra calories. Just exercise a little extra tomorrow. You will be fine. I hope your night goes better. Remember: don't sweat the small stuff.
  • I am just going to eat a whole box in one sitting and get it over with. I am not going to suffer through rationing. Just order one box and be done. that is what i am going to do. I will also try to exercise more that week and watch my calories the rest of the week. Its like a girl scout holiday. One bad eating day that i…
  • I am ordering my girl scout cookies now. Thanks for letting me know it is girl scout cookie time. I endulge in one box and order my kids one box each. Just enough to get my fix for the year. Enjoy everyone!
  • When you start exercising, start off slow. Do a little and gradually you will increase your exercise. I started at 5 minutes of walking 1 mph on the treadmill. When i felt like it, i would gradually increase it. By the end of 2 months, i was walking an hour a day at 3 mph. Then, i started swimming. At first, i was just…
  • I am. Thanks for asking. My goal is to swim 100 miles by the end of the year. It is about 8.4 miles a month. So far, i have swam 5 miles by jan. 15. I am right on track. I hope you are smashing your goals too. Good luck!
  • Don't eat it!
  • Sorry @purpleannex if i was too hard on you. I just got irritated. I wish you the best at your running adventures.
  • Thank you so much for sharing this info. I didn't learn this during my years in cross country and neither did my children when they were in cross country. So @purpleannex my family runs (except I swim now) and this is not ancient news. If they don't teach you this in high school or college, I am sure no one is willing to…
  • Now, i consume both soy and dairy milk. Last year, I was a vegan for a year. It was hard because everyone puts dairy milk in their products. It is unavoidable at times. I definitely had to cook everything from scratch.
  • Homemade split pea soup and homemade chicken noodle soup. Warms the tummy since it is so cold outside.
  • Thanks for sharing.
  • Hang in there. You can do this. This time is different. Change your habits slowly for long term commitment. There is a post you should read as you start out. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10591405/tips-how-i-stayed-committed-finally-and-lost-30-lbs#latest. Then, get her on board without force, but…
  • Good luck! You can do it!
