Kimny72, my job is sedentary, and now I am working from home so I do not even get the exercise of running errands. I do, however, have a nice recumbent bike, which I bought just in time. I have been using it 4x's a week for 20 min. I am considering increasing to 25 min. I have arthritis which is also limiting. oh, and did…

Suzji27...on a 1200 calorie diet, I am supposed to lose a damn half pound a week. That is almost unacceptable. You understand what I mean? I would be thrilled to lose a pound a week. But no. At 1200 calories, its a half pound a week. So by August 1st, the program says I will lose 2 lbs. Wouldnt you get discouraged?…

Ok Ladies, here is what it is, a large part. I am a small person. For me to lose weight means 1200 calories. This is...not a lot. I think I get frustrated that it is difficult to stick to 1200 calories. Also, until people advised me to not pay attention to the macronutrients, I found I could not eat 1200 calories without…

Terytha, its not the time it takes. Not at all. Its the psychology of knowing that I HAVE to chart my food in order to lose weight. I think almost no matter what strategy one picks, it involves charting or logging. WW: worked for me in the early 90's. I lost 35 lbs very easily and kept it for many years. Then life…

https://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=812003 I also did find a similar recipe that uses bran flakes...may be easier on the gut?

Now, why didnt I think of that, Tim?

Because they are really excellent. Good source of fiber - if too much for my belly. I have not found another low fat muffin that can stand up to them.

The gummies give me...gastric discomfort.

Thank you all for your comments. As a result of the discussion here, I omitted the sugar column from my nutrients, and added in fiber. I feel much better now that I do not have to see how many grahams of sugar are in my apple, or in my 24 daily teddy grahams. I tend to be a middle of the road kind of gal, and I know what…

Please define "added sugar". Is that the sugar in a Tbsp of preserves I put into my greek yogurt? Or is it in a WW muffin I bake? Or the 24 teddy grahams that are my dessert at night? BTW, I am short, older and I sit at my job. I do have a recumbent bike which I use 4-5 times a week. Nony_Mouse, how did you change your…

I kept the weight off that I lost on WW for many years. But I was in my early 40's, (way before menopause) and I was somewhat obsessed with working out. Cant do that now! have musculoskeletal issues. I get that I was helped by not only the cardio but the body sculpting classes...and I am no longer in my 40's. Still, it…

Pardon my ignorance but what is TDEE?

Thank you all so much. Yes I know weight training is important. At the moment, I am rehabbing a shoulder so my physical therapist does not want me doing weight training. I see him this week and will revisit that issue. And yes that TV is on all the while I am on my bike...Igfrie, what was your biking schedule? how long and…

Hi, Folks. I went back and checked the calories my recumbent bike says I am burning, and it is actually MORE than MFP says for the same amount of time...which figure should I use in logging my exercise??

I am the OP and I would like to clarify. I am 68 and am working on taking off at least 30 lbs. I am a shorty - 5' - so according to my goals, 1200 calories is what I need to be eating. Most days this is not too difficult. I just bought a recumbent bike to assist me with my fitness goals - which indeed are NOT just to lose…

Sharon_C, mine were the exact opposite. Maybe I used too much banana, but they were very mushy, like uncooked mashed bananas..apullum, its not the mix. No.

Thank all you lovely ladies for your comments, support and encouragement! I just started here - since early November. I dont expect miracles. When I was 40, I lost over 30 lbs in 6 months with (the old) Weight Watchers program, when it was exchanges. Since then, I went back several times and it was like torture. I would…

I feel it is intentionally misleading.

Which video is her most recent one??

The saga continues: my husband and I went to WF to pick up some dinner. So: here is a bean and cheese quesadilla arranged in a circle, 4 pieces in the circle The sign says that 1/4 quesadilla has ..200 something calories, lets say 220. I ask the guy behind the counter: is each piece the serving size as posted, or is the…

Having read the responses here from start to finish, I would like to comment further. No, I dont think muffins are necessarily "whole" or "healthy". but what is shocking is the calorie density in ONE SINGLE MUFFIN. No, a bakery is not a place to make healthy choices. But this was beyond my wildest imagination, 740…

NO I did not think vegan = healthy. And for that matter I guess I need to clarify further. I get that muffins are bakery items and that bakery items are often calorie rich. However, I have been baking from home for decades and I have really NO idea how anyone, including a commerical bakery, could cram so many calories into…

Good to know!

Can folks here who use her DVD's make some recs for me? I only have 2 that I feel challenge me. The rest are pretty easy.

I lost about 35 lbs on WW more than 20 years ago when they used exchanges and optional calories. I found it very easy, I could hardly believe I was losing weight. I kept it off for many years, and then life happened. I went back several times - using the points - and each time I would lose and gain, lose and gain, for no…

my faves: cookies and cream; smores, and pistachio. There are a few I have not tried because they are 360 calories. I agree actic zero takes like frozen sugar water. Bah!

Thank you all for your help and suggestions. I have had PT - not much help for my back I am sorry to say. I believe I need to strengthen my core, and this is a process. Regarding a personal trainer, I asked at my health club if they have a trainer who regularly works with older adults. I have a feeling that young, fit…

Hi, folks, thanks for your responses. I thought a trainer might be helpful so that I don't aggravate my back with weight lifting. I have some weights at home but I think I need to do more. I am not a water aerobics person. I have been trying to drop the weight by reducing food intake but I feel that is not enough.

I am meeting my minimums for all categories, except for sodium and I dont worry about that.

Sharing: I recently discovered Kashi bars - chewy, not sweet but satisfying. And, I downloaded a recipe from the Forks over Knives site that mixes tofu with lime, and honey - not everyone's cup of tea, but I really enjoyed it.
