  • Aunt Millie's 35 calorie bread (sandwich or add an egg for french toast) Malt o meal (130 calories) Popcorn (add peanut butter or parmasean cheese or something if you want some more flavor) Salad
  • Oatmeal. I change it up all the time. Sometimes raisins, nuts, and molasses. Sometimes fruit like peaches, blueberries, strawberries and almond milk. Oatmeal is amazing. You can have it every day in a different way. On the weekends I often make pancakes or popovers.
  • My birthday is coming up too and I am making a strusel coffee cake. The year before was strawberry shortcake. You could try lemon yogurt cake. Yum yum.
  • I'm 5'3 and feel like 105 - 110 is best for me, too. Right now I'm 112 and just staying here for a while by choice. Like you, I had trouble losing the last 10-15 pounds. I ate much less and exercised so much. But nothing worked. It turns out you can't fight your body. I began eating MORE and the weight just came off. 1,000…
  • Some ezekial bread has no sodium at all. Or you could bake your own with yeast. Hain featherweight baking powder has no sodium for when you want to bake things without yeast. There are no sodium added tomato sauces. But remember there is natural sodium in foods. Some high sodium foods to avoid are .... canned foods, soy…
  • I love bread. I eat bread, bake bread and other treats. Just make sure it fits into your daily calories like the girl ahead of me said. If you're still hungry then I suggest Ezekiel bread because it's really filling. At least for me. Sometimes I don't eat it because I'll feel too full and I want to be sure I eat enough.…
  • Some foods have a little bit of natural trans fat and some product foods have a low amount of trans fat so they can label it "trans fat free" even though it's in there. Just like tick tacks are sugar free even though they are basically 100% sugar. Look for "partially hydroginated" in the label and if it's there avoid it…
  • Neither. I add applesauce, pumpkin, or extra virgin olive oil and those have been great. Here is a good pumpkin recipe for a thick cake like brownie http://healthyrecipesblogs.com/2012/10/22/pumpkin-brownies-from-scratch/ For me applesauce tends to make things taste weird, but not in brownies. It seems to work out so well…
  • Please don't eat back fewer calories if you are only eating 1200 calories. 1200 is for if you do NO exercise at all. I lost my period for 4 months when I was doing what you were doing. I had to eat lots more, stop exercising, and gain a few pounds back so that my body would go back to normal. I did 1350 - 1400 after that…
  • 1200 is too low if you are exercising. I was on a 1200 calorie diet when I started mfp and it made me cranky, all I could think about was food, and it was just bad. I know it seems crazy, but eating more calories often helps you lose weight. I think your body is telling you that 1200 just isn't enough. My body fought me as…
  • A while back I was exercising twice a day and not eating back calories, but the scale wasn't moving. Then I decided to take a break and just maintain .. I didn't work out for a week and I ate much more .. and I lost weight. Now I'm eating well and exercising once a day, sometimes those days are weight lifting, walking, or…
  • MFP started me on the same amount of calories and I was starving and cranky. SO CRANKY. I upped my calories a bit and feel much better and have more energy. Maybe you can try more calories for a little while and see how that goes.
  • Going to add Total Cereal and Malt O Meal.
  • I'm going to try this! It sounds amazing!
  • I usually have oatmeal for breakfast. I change it up by adding fruit, milk, nuts, spices, cocoa powder, peanut butter, etc. I've recently found out that if you cook 1/2 cup of oatmeal in 2 cups of water for around 15 minutes it turns into 1 and 1/2 cups of oatmeal. Very filling! But also very soft, I prefer more texture to…
  • half a banana, 1 cup milk, 1 tbs cocoa powder. Put it in a blender or food processor and you have a thick chocolate shake. Or try a microwave brownie. Use peanut butter instead of oil. You don't need an egg.
  • Well this thread inspired me to up my calories. I have been getting cranky and just thinking about food all the time. I don't know about you, OP, but I'm 5'3, 118 pounds (last I checked a few days ago) and I walk around 60 minutes a day. I was having such trouble losing these last few pounds, nothing helped. But I joined…
  • I just started this and am having the same problem. But I found that air popped popcorn helps and also making home made soup. Bananas, peanut butter, and eggs help fill me up as well. But yeah it's really easy to be so hungry on 1200 calories. At least for me. Warm things seem to help like warm tea and oatmeal.
