I haven't checked in here for a while. Day 700!

Just checking in. Day 637.

Just checking in to keep myself accountable. 631 days...

I keep my meals about the same and tweak with between meal choices. I just find that easier to adjust up and down. I do tend to drop down low in my range and then go a little overboard for a while. I change up calorie density more than amount of food or frequency.

Thanks all. I still have the long streak of MFP log ins, though most days lately it has just been recording.

Thanks. I went off the radar for a bit trying not to obsess abut it so much. It has not been a stress free year, but I am starting to relax a little more. Still tracking, but sometimes I don't bother tracking dinner and after when I am on track through the day and planning not to go crazy. Weighing often and won't putting…

I haven't checked in for a while. Day 616; still tooling along...

Dang it - forgot to post yesterday. 601 days...

It made it a lot easier for me. The alcohol calories themselves plus the poor food choices I made after drinking added up to quite a bit.

I used BMI. I am male, not an elite athlete and have roughly average proportions (nothing unusual about frame size). BMI is legit for me. In the past, I have had vague goals and/or allowed myself to justify changing them because I felt good enough about how I looked and felt before I got to goal. BMI is a set amount that I…

I quit drinking about 2 months before I started losing. It's been 19 months since I quit drinking and 11 months since I got my BMI under 25, after starting with it around 34. I have been much more active and enjoy just about everything more. I feel like a non drinker now; took about a year to start feeling that way. I no…

I just Google "days since 6/25/2017" and there are a few sites that compute it. 583 for me!

I am pretty close most days with an occasional splurge over. I generally eat extra calories for burns on the day I do the exercise; it's usually first thing in the morning. I track very carefully each day but rarely look back across days. My goal is currently set to a deficit, slowly losing toward the bottom of my range. I…

@lloydrt - This time has been easier for me for an interesting reason. I quit and started back several times over the years, always thinking I had proved to myself I had it under control. So it was always in the back of my mind that I would drink again. This time I decided I can't keep doing that so this is for good. 580…

I put on some while I was on it, but I am not sure it was to blame. Others have told me they didn't. It didn't work well for me though.

I can really only estimate, but you got me curious. 578 days for me is probably in the 300,000 calorie range. Much more if you include the domino effect - late plates of cheese nachos I generally only had after drinking and other snacks.

Tough love is still love; calling it shooting the wounded seems a little extreme. Feeling like there is some consequence is a good thing for me. But deciding I am a non drinker is a big one for me. I feel better about myself than when I believed I was an addict in remission. Thanks! I hope what works for you keeps working…

Wow - 21 pounds is only 87 calories? That's a small to medium banana. Pretty good indication of why it has to be a mindset or lifestyle change.

You get a lot more calories while gaining up to the higher weight, but once you get there, your maintenance won't be all that much higher unless you're talking about putting on a significant amount of weight.

This thread was revived from a bit of a lull. A few posts up I mention being around 300 days. Today makes 575. I had to look that up on a date calculator; I don't count the days constantly. 12 step doesn't really do it for me either. I don't believe in a higher power. I think this depends on me and my will to overcome the…

Once I got to goal, I set a 10 lb range with the top actually below my goal, but still considered myself in maintenance losing down to it. My goal was to get my BMI under 25 and keep it there. Any fiddling around I do under 25 I consider maintenance. I have gone as low as 23, but most of the time keep it around 24.

I should not have looked at this thread again; doing a no sweets challenge during arthroscopic surgery recovery. Original plan was to do it until I can do some pretty intense cardio again and decided to extend it until I can paddle SUP again; probably April. Caramel pecan is one of my all time favorites. At least I can…

Had my shoulder scoped yesterday. Got Sprix (crazy strong NSAID) instead of opioid pain pills. No troubles. Still bucking the trend - I check the number of days (now 573) from time to time, but I don't approach this as a day at a time. I made a decision and I no longer drink. Each time I quit for a while and drank again,…

Be sure it really is gaunt and not just a reaction by yourself and others to you looking different. If I had stopped the first time someone thought I looked like I lost too much weight, I would still be a lot heavier.
-
First thing in the morning pretty much anytime it is convenient to, usually 4 or 4 times a week. i see ups and downs and know I am somewhere between. There are trending apps that tell you almost exactly. My usual swings are small enough that I don't bother. If you weigh infrequently, you don't know if you are catching…

I only have 570 days, but I can say I won't ever drink again. Doubt is not my friend. If I screw this up, I want tough love not compassion. I want to hear what a freaking moron I am. I don't think of myself as a alcoholic who is abstaining; I am someone who doesn't drink. I do not take it day by day; I am in it for the…

Indian and Thai battle for the top spot as far as my favorite ethnic food. Which ever one I didn't have last is my current favorite. Right now that's Thai. There is a brand of Indian food in quick cooking pouches that is surprisingly good; just make some rice to pour it over.

I spent a lot of time at the gym, binge watching a couple of series on Hulu on the arc trainer for 90 to 120 minutes at a time trying to make up for my overages. I did - I actually ended up losing 3 pounds by the time all the treats were gone. I did pay attention to portions, but ate a lot of apple pie with caramel, pecans…

It definitely bothered me that one of tier claims was increased weight loss and higher metabolism, which I think have both been pretty thoroughly debunked. The longevity claim is hard to be sure about. Lots of anecdata seems to indicate that it applies to humans to a lesser degree, but most of the examples are of people…
