To me, Slimfast is a complete waste of money, simply because it does not satisfy like eating actual food. As others have said, it is not real food. Heavy cream is the best, not Slimfast creamer. I find that following keto means you will be making all your meals from actual food. A lot of work, but well worth it. I make at…

You're looking gaunt. You wanna lose *more* weight? I didn't recognize you! (My own brother said that!)
-
I've weighed and logged nearly everything since April of last year. I don't feel right if I don't. Besides, I've lost so much weight in that time that I never want that insidious weight creep to occur.

Subtract dietary fiber from total carbs. This gives you net carbs. Easy.

I had the same issue, then realized that worrying about calories on a daily basis was not working. Now I just look at caloric intake on a weekly, not daily, basis. This gives me the latitude to occasionally go over my daily limits. Today, 1250 cals, tomorrow, 1400, next day 1000. Smooth averaging.

As others have said, you can do whatever you want with it. My protein shake consists of the powder, spinach, chard, fresh ginger, coconut milk, peptides and ice. Sometimes I mix the powder with cottage cheese and yogurt, or with my coffee. Getting enough protein is fairly hard. Can't really get enough from veggies.…

You can certainly use the database, but make sure you check the nutrition info. I agree that is better to create your own recipes. At least you have control over them unlike the "recent", "frequent", "sometimes", "every now and then" lists with little or no control over the entries.

To me, keto is not primarily about weight-loss. It is more importantly about eating as cleanly as you can. No need to worry about sugar as this WOE is naturally low in sugar. The Magic Pill on Netflix will open your eyes to what this way of eating is and how it can accomplish what it does. You will naturally lose weight, a…

Our society is indeed addicted to sugar and carbohydrates which starts the day we begin eating solid food. It's why our nation is in the throes of an obesity and diabetes epidemic. The food industry is always happy to make these two foods as appealing as possible. Cutting back on either of these two will cause you to start…

Thoughts? Yes we have thoughts. We'd love to help, but you haven't included any vital information. Cals/day? What are your macros now? What is your exercise routine? Simply impossible to help without knowing these things.

Heresy! :D

What everybody else said, plus, my doctor has taken me off three meds!
-
Nicely done!

I see a lot of people here trying to limit carbs to an unreasonable number. 20g? 17? Not enough. Stressing about the macros is also unwise. On or about is good enough. Some days I don't hit my calorie allowance so of course MFP will not calculate the projected weight. That projection is wildly optimistic anyway. Sending…

My pleasure. Go to Community, then "Invite Friends"...

Just set your macros. MFP will take care of figuring out what each food contains. 16g carbs is pretty low and probably very hard at which to stay. More like 25-30g, IMO would be easier to manage. The minus means that you have eaten too many of a particular macro. The avocados have a good amount of fat. Another way to get…

I purchased a breathalyzer. Didn't like the idea of a one-use strip costing $1.50 each.
-
Not exactly, but I'm guessing there's about 6k mg of sodium, and the rest is just artificial. B)

No need to worry about sugar as this WOE is naturally low in sugar. I went from consuming ~100g/day to ~10 without even paying any attention to sugar consumption. You can, however, track sugar if you like. Regarding calories, simply decide how many calories per day you want to consume and then go for perhaps 70% fat/ 20%…

38g is a good place to start. It will, however, take a while for you to manage your cals and macros. I too had a hard time getting the macros right, cal count not that hard for me. What is your calorie and macro count?

150 pounds lost in only eight months? Must be one heckuva diet.
-
Juuuuuuust a bit more information might help and get you some responses.
-
It would really help if you posted a bit more information on what you are eating, your daily calorie allowance and your macro settings. It is nearly impossible to help without knowing.
-
That you have someone to do this with will really help. When people around you see how well you are doing, it kind of rubs off on them. Your approach to this is good because the keto WOE is a drastic dietary change. You will be flipping the food pyramid upside down. This WOE is also naturally low in sugar. I went from…

To me, keto is not primarily about weight-loss. It is more importantly about eating as cleanly as you can. For example, my kitchen is now nearly 90% organic. Organic foods are clean with no artificial ingredients. I was a sourdough bread baker, so I had a ton of various types of flour and it was very difficult throwing…

As someone who struggles with chronic knee pain, I can say from experience that losing weight is one of the best things you can do to help alleviate knee pain. It is not a cure all, however. I've dropped eighty pounds over the last year and it has indeed helped. The fact that you are going to a doctor is one of the best…

All these well-meaning people are nothing more than arm chair dietitians. They don't really know much about you or your medical history. IMHO, you should talk this over with your doctor. I am not a doctor, nor do I pretend to be.

This is one heck of a good article. Thanks for posting it!

Make a protein shake. Done.

Well, since about a hundred people here are telling you the same thing over and over again, I may as well add my two cents: peel the banana, weigh the rest, then uh, eat it (the banana, not the peel). :)
