  • Unfortunately, MFP only counts the exercise in the cardio section toward your weekly goal. A few people on here have mentioned that the reason for it is because calories burned while weight training will vary greatly depending upon your current weight and the intensity of your workout. I guess MFP isn't currently set…
  • I'll join you. Feel free to add me.
  • Fruits and vegetables are carbs, so if you're eating clean, then your carbs will be fairly high. This isn't a bad thing unless the carbs are coming from white breads, cakes/candies, etc. I don't agree with the whole cutting carbs completely mindset, but I think a lot of people tend to cut them out because they're high in…

  • I usually just boil the quinoa in some chicken or vegetable broth, the same way I would rice, and love it. I don't get any kind of soapy taste. Will definitely need to try it toasted, though.
  • The elliptical is my preferred cardio exercise. I usually do 60 minutes 3-4 days a week, burning around 1,000 calories per session. I find I burn more calories with the elliptical than with other cardio workouts, and it's easier on my joints and upper body than running on the treadmill.
  • You can feel free to add me. I log every day.
  • In another thread on here, someone posted the following formula: multiply your weight by 3.267 to get the total calorie burn for 60 minutes. Divide by 3 to calculate calories burned for 20 minutes. Based on the numbers I got when I did the calculations, I assume this is for level 1 of the DVD. This is how I'm logging it…
  • I flat out refuse to go to McDonald's/Burger King/etc. 99.9% of the time when my boyfriend suggests them. It drives him nuts, but he gives in usually. I just don't want to put that kind of food into my body on a regular basis. Once in a while I'll give in, but it's rare.
  • What is it about the cottage cheese that you don't like? The taste? Texture? I personally don't mind the taste of it, but I hate the texture, so usually I'll blend it smooth in a blender and mix it with something else like fruit.
  • I enter meals like that as recipes, putting in all of the exact ingredients (including spices) that I used and note how many servings I expect the meal to be. That way the site calculates the per-serving nutrition information for me. And if i decide to make it again, it's already entered into the system.
  • Feel free to add me. My diary is open to friends, and I recently started logging every day again. I have struggled with daily logging in the past because it makes me obsessive about what I put in my mouth (in a bad way), but having friends on here who provide support/motivation seems to be helping me stick with it.
  • Hi All - I'm Vicki and I just started tracking my food/activity on here again; I'm working on losing about 120 lbs. Would be happy to connect with and help motivate/support others in similar situations. Feel free to add me.
  • I know how you feel - I've gone through the same thing recently. It's a process and you will get through it. If it makes you feel better, right now, I'm struggling with intense sugar cravings for 1-2 hours after my daily workouts, which has been particularly tough fighting the mental/emotional side that's trying to justify…
  • So funny, I've been thinking about starting this again in the next couple of weeks. I'll join you starting March 1. Feel free to add me :)
  • I work out barefoot at home, even the Step, although I wouldn't recommend doing the Step barefoot, since sneakers provide arch and ankle support. I don't wear sneakers when doing the Step because my feet cramp up if I do, and I have to be super careful with all of my movements. I don't have any exercise equipment in the…
  • Sounds like you're off to a great start! Feel free to add me. I am trying to lose around 120 lbs, and could use the support/motivation as well.
  • Feel free to add me
  • I am working on losing around 120, and would definitely welcome the support as well. Feel free to add me.
  • It sounds like you're not eating enough. I have has similar struggles in the past. My doctor, my trainer and a couple of my nutritionist friends have all recommended that I eat at least 1,400 - 1,600 calories a day when I'm working out 4-5 days a week. Have you checked with your doctor or a nutritionist to see if there's…
  • Ambryl9 - what are your weekends like? Could you set aside maybe 2 or 3 hours one day each weekend or every other weekend to make a couple of dishes that refrigerate/freeze well (e.g., casseroles, soups, etc.)? If you can do that, you can separate them into single serving containers and have something you can "grab and go"…
  • You can feel free to add me as well. I'm in the same situation - been on here for a while, but have just recently started tracking again. It is definitely easier when others are helping to motivate you.
