  • Another Withings user here, of all the scales I've tried they seem to be the most settled number wise. My BF% never varies hugely, which I always had problems with on other scales. :) I paid a whopping £120 (190 US dollars) but worth every penny :)
  • Although you were beautiful before, you're a damn stunner now, wow x
  • *nods* well said :) Calories are SO accessible these days. On ww stuff like alcohol is obscure, based on alcohol sugars, which are never given on product, and ww themselves won't give up the calculation. Not every food is able to be exactly pointed (think your generic baker, won't have any information on the pack). You…
  • Slimfast does say its not a complete nutrition replacement, its not wise to treat it like it is! I did Exante - a PROPER complete meal replacement, and I dropped masses on the scales week 1, then after it was like -1, -2, maybe -3 if I was really lucky (which you could lose on a conventional diet if you worked hard…
  • Can see a huge difference in your face! Keep at it :)
  • Hannah, 25, 5ft10 sw 284 cw 260 gw 172 Twin, sibling, cousin, far out relative twice removed that you only see at christmas... really anyone can add me if they like :) the more the merrier :)
  • Have you never checked what your actual day to day calories should be? Is 1300 ok for you? If you are very active you should be making sure to eat at least up to 1200 net.
  • 25 here, looking to lose 86lbs
  • Yeah sounds a bit off to me. I used to have insanely hard hour long personal training sessions, and at 20 stone I didnt even hit 1k, so it does seem impossible. You don't look anywhere near that weight so I'd say getting 500-600 would be a massive achievement. I would always suggest to anyone to invest in a good Polar…
  • Your MBR * 1.2 would be what you require day to day to survive. (with a sedentary lifestyle) to lose 1lb you need to subtract 3500 calories over the week, which is 500 a day. HTH
  • As long as a piece of string... No hard and fast rule... everyone is different. Biology and the human body isn't generally as simple as a mathematic equation
  • I eat weekly rather than daily. Because I'm a spiker - my daily calorie intake can be anything between 1300 and 4000. I go for an absolute max 14k per week. Means I'm getting a loss of approx 1lb. Most of the time I don't eat anywhere near that number, usually settling around the 12.5k/13k. And I try to get in roughly 2-3…
  • Have you read the book? Your low days should be BMR - 500. High days for exercise should be your BMR, and spikes x2 BMR. (make sure you can justify having the High days with enough exercise, and it should be weight training too) But the above is a GUIDELINE. You do have to tot up what you have planned to eat cals wise,…
  • I dont have a cheat day, rather a spike day. Have worked out my weekly allowance to include it so I will lose weight. 3000-4000 calories on a spike day, 1300-1500 daily for the rest of the week. (my overall 1lb loss would be 1700 a day i think) So my "cheat" day is basically free (have you ever tried to eat 4k calories in…
  • I really like the spike theory personally. As long as your arent falling below 1200 net on any day, or eating a spike on the day before weigh in its all good :) I worked out my BMR as just over 2000. with TDEE of inactive (1.2) that gives me a weekly maintenance of 16800. If I had a single high day of 4000 calories, and 6…
  • its tough when its the ones you care about getting on like that. You want them to feel better, and be able to do it... but at the end of the day they have to want to do it. Just like every one of us that came here. Actually my father had a heart attack not that long ago, hes completely changed his diet. His diet prior to…
  • this. theorectically you should follow something like this: bmi 32 + = lose 2lb bmi 28-32 = lose 1.5 bmi 26-28 = 1lb a week bmi <26 = 0.5 a week At the end of the day its not an exact science... you have to play around with it, balance your exercise & how much you eat with your tdee and your bmr to get your results.
  • Northern Ireland :)
  • Its a big freakin deal getting under the 200 mark isnt it? You've done so great so far, keep it up!! xx
  • Wootwoot, same :D xx
  • started 284, Currently 264, gw is 174 :) 20 down another 90 to go! lol
  • hannata derives from my gamer geek pokemon loving nature.. On a gaming forum I frequent one of the admins is called Ash, and he adopted me as his pokemon and gave me the name =P basically : Hannah + rattata = hannata 86 is my year of birth
  • I'm from the UK, our points plan vary slightly but the theory is the same... on the older plan it was based on cals/s fat and I had great successes with it, but the newer Propoints (carbs, fat, fibre, protein) was a complete bomb for me. If you want more info on it you should scoot over to the minimins forum…
  • its probably more likely that the muscle tissues are retaining water than actual muscle growth... it takes months of training to gain a pound of muscle so you wouldn't see that kind of gain overnight. If you want to train and lose weight, take measurements. They tell a far better story than a set of scales ever could. :)
  • *nods* If you plan properly you can fill whatever your allowance is... just takes a bit of thought. Have more calorie dense food in your diet... Rice and pasta are quite good without being "unhealthy".. or just have a bit of fat in things, like some olive oil when you cook, or something of that nature.
  • Well actually its a myth that you don't use calories while you sleep, you probably use as many, maybe even more. Your body goes through a rest and repair cycle... Asides that its really bad for you not getting enough sleep and is known to be detrimental to weight loss
  • does it track your heart rate?
  • I've been there and done that, learning the hard way that eating next to nothing is not always the way. Not only are you not losing weight, you're also feeling down about it. I can understand your thinking, "theres no way I can't lose weight" am I right? Sadly our bodies aren't designed that way.. they need fuel to work…
  • Hello wondering if you can help me decide a spike value... my bmr is 2023. My exercise levels are temperamental (due to medical reasons some weeks i'm more able than others) so could you give me a baseline to work on taking in no exercise? Could I eatback calories on the days I am able to do exercise? Many thanks :)
  • *nods* 2lb weights are about as useful as a kick in the face.... When I started at the gym my trainer had me on 4kg as a basic training (which is 8.8lbs) and any male or female should be able to do without any struggle! I built up over a year between 4/6kg, and I can now EASILY throw around an 8kg (17.6lbs) kettlebell. And…
