  • Trust the scale. We moved a couple of months ago and all I had was the wii board when we moved in. My Tanita scale (which is very accurate) was at my mom's. It turns out that the wii fit measures me 3-4 pounds less. I was seriously disappointed. My Tanita gives me the same measurement consistently if I step off and back…
  • Dan, I want to thank you. I'm only trying to lose about 10 pounds and get back in some clothes that got too tight over the past couple of years while I've been off the fitness wagon due to life circumstances. Anyway, MFP had me at 1200 which left me starving most days. This had me on a cycle of feeling like I had to kill…
  • I'd opt for more natural bars like Zone Perfectly Simple or Lara bars...something that has more of a balance of carbs/protein/fat and less carbs. What about packing a small cooler with string cheese and boiled eggs or other things that you don't need to keep cool like a small single serve container of peanut butter with…
  • Thanks for posting!
  • This might be TMI. But I find it so funny that every time I have it clipped to my waistband and go to the bathroom I get a message. It's usually "Goooooal!" It cracks me up every time. Can it see me? Lol! I usually don't see my messages because it's clipped on the inside of my clothing. Now I'm wondering how you guys see…
  • I was coming here to post similarly to what chanelcinq did. I use Sweetleaf for this reason. It's natural and uses Reb-A. I've been researching Stevia since I cut out aspartame and sucralose (Splenda) from my diet.
  • Sweat does affect it so be careful. You can use the clip and face it outward. Be careful it doesn't pop out. Some people wrap it in Saran wrap then put it on their clothing. It seems to work well that way.
  • Bump
  • I make a breakfast sandwich that keeps me full until lunch. I make it with either Nature's own or Pepperidge Farm whole wheat sandwich thins that are 100 calories each, 1/4 c egg beaters or egg whites, 1 Morningstar Farms veggie sausage patty (I swear they're really good!!) and one slice of 2% cheese. When made with egg…
  • As a female who turned 37 a few weeks ago and posted a thread three weeks in, wondering WHY on earth I hadn't lost a pound, I can identify with this post a bit. First, unlocking your diary (assuming you've been TOTALLY honest with yourself in your diary) will help us help you a lot. It was a huge help with me. It helped me…
  • Two days in a row. I could have gone back to sleep. But then I thought about how great it was to have my evening (that ended up being packed with activities from work up until bedtime) free. I got right out of bed. Is it OK if we use this thread as a daily update/motivational thread too? :)
  • My percentage went WAY up when I switched to normal. And then I tried the hovering thing and switching from the normal to sensitive view and was blown away. BUT, I notice that when I switched from normal to sensitive, it seemed like it may have been more accurate on normal. But when I had it set to sensitive and THEN…
  • Mkcmurphy, do you mind sharing your stretches for the IT band and the exercises for the leg? I'm slowly getting over a right knee issue and stretching has been helping. I went to my ortho today and go back in three weeks. I'd like to try some different exercises/stretches and was wondering if yours would add to my routine.…
  • I know that when I stay around the 40/30/30 range, I tend to feel fuller longer and more satisfied on the calories I have. I also pay attention to my fiber intake. I aim for 20-25g of fiber a day. This helps as well. When I regularly eat 50% carbs, no matter the ratio of proteins and fats in combination with it, I feel…
  • I DID IT TOO! I got up at 5:30 this morning to work out! I didn't even want to bang my head against the wall when I got up. I think I had told myself so many times last night at I was going to do it, that it just happened. Now, to see what time I'll start crashing this afternoon or this evening! LOL!
  • I also have a Polar and find it's close to MFP or reads more than MFP.
  • Wow. I'm amazed and in awe at this thread. I'm not a morning person. I'll sometimes get up and work out in the morning. And I ALWAYS feel great that day. It's wonderful to have my workout out of the way and not have to think about it for the rest of the day. Plus, I don't have to shower again! But inevitably, my body…
  • No sleep apnea. I don't snore at all. DH snores. I sleep with ear plugs in. I will say that I'm wondering if part of it isn't our mattress. It's not even seven years old but it's just not that comfortable anymore to me. I guess I keep thinking sometime in the next year we'll replace it. But since it's a pillow top, we…
  • I gave up full fat ice cream when I read it was one of the worst things you could eat for your diet. I might have a few bites as a treat on special occasions but that's it. I gave up "light" ice cream when I gave up artificial sweeteners since they're full of them. But this mislabeling is completely deceptive! People who…
  • I love days like that. I'd use that as an opportunity to eat a great snack between that first meal and eat a nice, filling dinner. Maybe through your good fats in there that add extra calories like avocado or peanut butter or olive oil. Add an extra whole grain or an extra ounce of protein. I never find it hard to reach my…
  • It's going to happen. You can't stop enjoying life because you're trying to lose weight. Sometimes a high calorie "cheat day" or meal (which often happens at the end of a day and makes one feel like their whole day is messed up) can shock your metabolism and help your goals. I also had a higher calorie day yesterday…
  • I read through the whole thread to see if anyone mentioned my ingredient for super creamy oatmeal. No one did. Before my year and a half off of all things fitness and putting on this ten pounds, I was very involved in fitness and several fitness message boards. Many of us swore by using.....wait for it (channelling Barney…
  • I'm sitting here eating my dinner at 10:40 pm and reading this thread. They're correct. If you're hungry at the end of the day then eat! You'll be fine.
  • That's true. These people are more sensitive/allergic than others for whatever reason. I think, regardless of my sensitivity, I'm going to stick with the stance that natural is better than something derived from sugar that has three chlorine atoms as components. It may have turned out to be safe in the short term studies…
  • After reading (and weeding out the "scare" sites), I started seeing a common thread. Splenda was brought to market based on mostly rat studies and relatively short term (less than six months) human studies. So in a way, everyone who is consuming it is a guinea pig for its long-term safety. Drugs go through years of phases…
  • I'm in the process of purging artificial sweeteners for a month to see if Splenda is what's been causing this unexplained itchy patch I've had on my neck that's come and gone for years. I've had various other skin issue that have developed as well. For certain reasons I feel like these things are internal. I'm going to try…
  • Welcome! I accepted your request! I had to have an Ultrasound on my leg this morning because I had a red spot and some swelling below where I've been wrapping it. My doctor was worried about DVT. Good lord. I'm fine though...No clotting. How can all this be going on when I feel so healthy otherwise?? I have an ortho…
  • I did my first day today. Workout 1 was fun! I didn't enjoy cardio 1 very much though. The repetition of the circuit got boring to me. I'm not sure if I can see myself doing this same DVD all month. I'll probably do other cardio DVDs too. Because of my funny knee thing I have going I could not do the running man at all so…
  • Hi! I just got my kit yesterday and am doing my first workout today. I'm a bit behind you guys. I've been having a strange muscle thing behind my right knee. So I may have to make modifications. But I'm going to attempt to do something since something is better than nothing. I'm turning 37 next week and have about ten…
  • I'm not giving up. I'm sticking with it. I agree about not being stringent enough with myself every single day. Maybe my eyeballing my food wasn't good enough at this stage of the game. I'm going to log every day every single thing I put in my mouth. I had forgotten my diary wasn't fully public until last night! My friends…
