  • I'm going to add you as a friend b/c I very much agree with your approach. After every 'diet' and 'trick' out there that I've tried (low-fast, high protein, low carb, yada, yada, yada) I've learned that they real way to true change, true health and lasting change is eating clean, eating as natural as possible, and not…
  • Like many other stories shared here, I joined MFP about a year ago, quickly lost 15 pounds....fell off the wagon of exercising/eating right and tracking and quickly gained back those 15 pounds and 5 more. Inspired by my dad who has stayed committed and has lost over 50 pounds, I started my own personal 90 day challenge and…
  • Thanks for posting your success to date...you are doing a great job! I'm on Week 2 of my journey with an eventual goal to lose about the same amount as you. My all time high was 308...started my journey (this time) at 292 and on week 2 I'm at about 285. I just got done doing a dance exercise (not Zumba, but I love that…
  • I agree with so many of the posters already. My husband has a mother who behaves similarly. She was asking us for money every other month for different 'urgent' situations. Rent, medical needs, etc. Always with a promise of paying it back as soon as she could. After getting burned a couple times, we wised up and no longer…
  • I'm a newbie, but I'm committed! I just celebrated Day 10 of daily logging and I know, as so many others have said here, that if it weren't for my daily logging and the encouragement and wisdom I find here, I would be struggling. Instead I'm succeeding! I have many more pounds to lose, and I plan to be here daily as I work…
  • It looks like you've had a lot of responses and I haven't had time to read through them all, but thought I'd give you our experience. My husband had Roux-en-Y procedure over 10 years ago. He quickly lost nearly 300 pounds and got down to very near his goal weight. In that sense, the procedure worked very well. However…
  • Thank you for sharing your story! I too am at the beginning of my journey - 15 pounds down so far, but about 105 to go. How I'd love to lose it all in 1 year! Your approach to weight loss sounds very similar to mine - focus on whole foods, eating clean, cut WAY down on meat consumption and eliminate nearly all processed…
  • Use it as a dip with fresh cut veggies (ie - bell peppers, carrots, celery, etc.). I had it today on top of cucumber rounds with a bit of pepper for a snack. Once upon a time I didn't like cottage cheese, mostly for the texture. But after trying it out "one more time" myself, I began to like it. Now I crave it! Best wishes!
  • Fun idea! Adding the 5 above me now!
  • I didn't read all the responses, so what I have to say may have already been said, but... I've been married for 6 years now, still learning more every day. Marriage is about mutual respect and give and take. Sometimes there are things that bother my husband that don't bother me. Sometimes there are things that bother me…
  • Great work! You look fantastic...and 10 years younger!
  • Perfect! I'll be saving this idea for future reference!
  • Hope I'm not too late - would love to join in! Send me an invite!
  • I was just thinking the other da how I'd like to join a challenge group for accountability and encouragement. This sounds perfect! Here's my info... Name: Holly Starting Weight (for the challenge): 274 Goal Weight: 165 Non-Scale Goal: Be able to wear the entire fun wardrobe of summer clothes I have that are 2-3 sizes too…
  • I've been curious about this too, because I tend to go over on my sugar daily. However what causes me to go over on my sugars is purely fruits and veggies. I'm doing a juicing program for breakfast and sometimes lunch, and each juice is made up of a mix of fruits and veggies. Some fruits and veggies have pretty high sugar…
  • My goal is 100 pounds in 10 months...I want to be 100 pounds lighter in time for my brother's wedding at the end of October. So far 11.5 pounds down!
  • I might not be much of a help here, as I'm a newbie just figuring all this stuff out too. But here are two guidelines I go by (and btw, I'm currently 271 and 5'9", so pretty close in body makeup to you!): 1 - Don't ever eat less than 1,000 calories...that'd be far too few. My calorie intake is generally between 1200-1500,…
  • Just had quinoa for the first time earlier this week and loved it!! We stir fried some veggies (red onions, celery, green peppers, carrots & minced garlic) and then simmered it with a can of black beans. Cooked up the quinoa in the rice cooker (cooks the same as white rice) and then served the quinoa topped with the black…
  • Hi All, I joined a while ago, but quickly fell off the wagon. I'm back and committed to meeting my first BIG goal of losing 100 pounds before my brother's wedding. I started at 284 and am down 12 pounds so far to 272...long way to go, but it's great to have others we can be kept accountable by and inspired by! Add me too!…
