  • This is what I was going to suggest too, after reading your post OP. This is exactly what I’ve been doing for the past 6 months and the results are there. It’s true, you don’t see the scale move a lot, but physically you see a huge difference.
  • What Kami said ^^ Also, I’ve noticed then when I was training on a deficit - the energy level just isn’t there.
  • Speed rope and battle ropes are both excellent for cardio.
  • I’ve been working out regularly for 6 months now, and started using a pre workout suggested to me by a buddy who’s been using it for a while. I started using it 3 months ago. For me, there is a huge difference between using it and not using it. I didn’t believe it until I tried it. Is it for everyone? I don’t know. I just…
  • Several years ago I did cardio with a calorie deficit, and after 3 months I got very bored, and just lost focus and went back to my normal life style. It was working, but for obvious reasons the results were due to a calorie deficit. Back then I was uneducated when it came to fitness and health, so my goal was to lose the…
  • Appreciate the honest response, thanks! I wasn’t insinuating anything bad by my first question, I apologize if you took it that way. I just wanted to make sure the recommendation wasn’t all just an advertisement is all. I’ve read quite a bit about it today after your post, and I’m going to give it a shot.
  • This is the first I've heard of Starting Strength, and just checked it out. Questions for you: * Are you recommending SS as someone who follows it or are you affiliated with them in any way? I'm asking, because I see a pretty price tag on it, so just wondering if this is a serious recommendation or if it's just…
  • I'm following the SL5x5 program right now. As first I wasn't sure how I felt about it. It felt like I was degressing, it was boring, felt too easy and like I wasn't working hard enough. I posted about this on these boards, asked if I should be adding anything to the program or if maybe it sounds like the program wasn't for…
  • Fatigue aside, my issue on the advice I'm seeking would still be the same. I'm not looking to kill myself in the gym, that is not what I am using as a factor for working hard. I've worked hard towards many things in my life time, so I do know what it feels like to work hard towards something. The program itself, I…
  • Sounds like your phone may have been infected with something. It would be uncommon for a single app to have that happen. I know that it's becoming more and more of a thing where crooked people are creating scripts that are installed on devices and they'll randomly take you to websites that acquires them hits for…
  • @wambli1 curious, if you use an Apple Watch, how come you prefer to import data rather than starting an exercise on your watch and let that sync to MFP? I’m only asking because I use iFit as well, but do the watch method I’m describing. Curious if I’m doing it wrong. Personally I feel the watch is more accurate than the…
  • As a software developer myself, this is why I subscribed for the year and why I agree with the encouragement you provide. Also, for being a free app, it really does wonders for our motivation and ability to lose weight and get fit - of course a lot of credit should also go to the community itself, but the backbone is still…

  • People already talked about the different scale and weight of clothing, and I was going to mention that too, so I won't repeat it. What I can say is that I've been experiencing the same thing. I spent 3 weeks going up and down a lb daily, even though my calorie intake was still on track and I was still exercising 6x a…
  • ^^ This. As I mentioned in my last post @jesslla, I come from the same background you describe if not worse (minus the hiding/stealing) and I can tell you from personal experience that what somrok is saying is accurate. The not-so-tasty carbonated water is what allowed me to stop drinking sodas and stop drinking sodas is…
  • I used to drink a ton of sodas myself, regular, not diet. Throughout the day, 95% of what I would drink is that, the other 5% was coffee. That's right, I wouldn't drink much if any water at all. I had a few co-workers with the same problem and they had started drinking sparkling water in place of sodas and it worked for…
  • That is actually what I've been doing as well, high protein, low carb. I understand how quickly the carbs can add up as an Italian - I am as well. I also follow the same workout routine that you described, and it's working fantastic. I know that I am physically improving, I just don't want to have too much muscle is I…
  • When I do eat breakfast, it’s one of two things that I rotate. For lunch, I have 3 things that I rotate, and dinner I rotate between 3-4 things as well. I do plan the nutrients for the day, so I make sure that my breakfast (when I have it), lunch and dinner for together to meet my daily goal. Usually my dinner is something…
  • Ok, so I haven't read anything that anyone else has said yet, so forgive me if I'm repeating anything. There are a few things that I can share here, that will hopefully help you and give you some added encouragement. Firstly, the part where you talk about the coke and no water, that sounds like me a few years ago. Dropping…
  • Just like many others have said, I think if you really have that craving and need to get it out of your system, just do it, but do it smartly. Maybe leave out the fries and the soda so it won't be as bad. Usually over thinking it is where the problems start happening. Now if you're trying to follow your macros to a T (not…
  • Excuse my strange wording for what things are called, still very new! You're correct about the tower, it allows for pull-up, push-up, dip, vertical knee raise. As for the bench, the packaging said it's called a "leg developer", if that explains it any better.
  • When the weather isn't all snowy and frozen out, I like to take the dog for a walk at around 6am. I then work out of my home office, so I usually use half of my lunch hour to do a quick 30 minutes in my home gym I've put together. Lastly, I do another 60-90 minutes at around 8 or 9 in the evening, depending on what I have…
  • That's amazing, you look great. Congrats on the successful hard work!
  • I'm a 10 today, and have been since my commitment and start into this new lifestyle change. My reason: I purchased an Apple Watch not too long ago and this watch has rings. It has a movement ring, a calorie burn ring and a standing ring. Why this motivates me so much is that growing up, I was always involved in sports and…
  • Great advice from everyone, thank you guys. As for a food scale, yes I do use one for everything and I log every gram/oz.
  • My vote is for the Apple Watch as well. I've had 3 fitbit products, none of which lasted much longer than a year. I've had my Apple Watch for a year and a half now and no issues. Also no need to repeat about the tracking, @mhodgie above said it all ^^
  • @88olds, thanks for your response. Yes I certainly do keep track of everything on MFP.
  • Hello, from Southeast Michigan.
  • It hasn’t, but what I have noticed is that since changing my lifestyle and eating better, I sleep much better at night. I used to wake up hourly with no fail, now I can sleep through the entire night. Feels great, more energy throughout the day, I love it.
  • Very long time Wings fan here.
