  • Really interesting to see such variations in goals. I'm 5'10 and have a large frame, I have wide shoulders (similar size to men's shoulders) and am very curvy. As a teenager (at my adult height) I was between 72-75kg (160-165lb). I do have 75kg as my goal weight, but I'm not sure how I'll feel when I get there. It could be…
  • I don't have the book to hand to check their formula. I am 5'10, and wasn't particularly impressed with the values as calculated from the book either. My main issue though, is that at 35, by the way the set up their calculations I suddenly need a whole lot less calories than last year when I was 34! I understand having an…
  • Hello again Yay! I'm really awfully pleased to be back after a hiatis of nearly two months. I didn't mean for it to happen, but I have been suffering from first trimester exhustion and going for a walk at lunch always won over going and doing weights :-( This morning I gave myself a little pep talk and decided that as long…
  • Hi Loricolwil, I think other people have mentioned feeling quite fatiged when starting this program, so it could well be the cause. The other thing that struck me is your calories seem low (though I am a large person, and need quite a lot, so my perspective could be skewed). What is your calorie requirement as calculated…
  • Birdy_Blue, thanks for the encouragement! Well, once again, life got in the way and I haven't done workout B yet, starting today.
  • Hmm, I'm figuring that Beeps really meant each REP, not each SET
  • I've been using JEFIT too. I think it is great. I'm up to stage three and I have been creating my own copies of the workout in the app. I haven't shared them (made them public) though as I didn't think that was fair to the authors of the book. Another great handy feature is that you can set up the rest time between sets…
  • *Gah* I feel like such a wimp. I only did one round of the body weight matrix and it took me SIX minutes :-( At least my starting squats were full depth, everything else was a bit lame. Oh and the only thing that hurts (and it really hurts) are my hamstrings, which is great, as I don't ever remember having sore hamstrings…
  • awww, Beeps, I hope all your sore spots get less sore soon!!
  • Hi Everyone, so glad to finally post here I started stage 3 after a three week hiatis; One week "rest week"/Second week I was sick/And third week I had a course to attend and still felt a bit sick. After such a long break I was a bit apprehensive about returning, but actually really enjoyed it! I already knew that this…
  • Mine came out with a HUGE difference: Health Central 32% Livestrong 68% (WTF!!) Scientic psychic 40% I think the Scientic psychic is most accurate for me as it is similar to my scales. . .
  • There are lots of different ways to work out your calorie intake (if I recall correctly, there is a choice of two different equations you can use in MFP). An equation that only involves your weight sounds like a very general one and may not very accurate, especially for people are who overweight/ with higher body fat.…
  • In regards to the step height, I was reading on another forum (I think the "official" NROL one) that the intention with the step ups is to have it at least high enough to create a 90degree angle at the hip/ which would make your thigh parallel to the floor. I believe that the reason for this is to ensure glute engagement.…
  • (In my understanding) With the ab movements only you start at 8 and progress to 15 by the end of the stage. But jack knives and push-ups are tricky as the "weight" is hard to adjust!
  • I did my last "A" workout yesterday, and wanted to post my progression - though it is not actually that great. Oh well, I suppose only doing it four times there is not as much opportunity to progress as stage 1. I feel like I only just got the hang of some of the exercises! 22.5 kg Front Squat/Push press (started with 20kg…
  • I did 3B yesterday, so I should be finished this stage by the end of this week. Yay! I feel Iike I'm finally getting the hang of the split squats and lunges :-) The body part that is killing me today though, is my forearms. I feel so lame, but I really struggled to keep my grip for both the deadlifts and the underhand pull…
  • ~ Beeps, I hope you have a great time in Hawaii! ~ I did B2 today (I keep ending up only managing to go twice a week, not three times, so it is a bit slow going). I was feeling pretty crap going into the gym and just wanted to make it through the workout, and so not to worried about pushing myself to up the weights. . . I…
  • Round 2 of workout A today! Front squat push press felt a bit better today, my wrists didn't hurt so much, I also realised I didn't have to *stay* up on my toes at the top of the move, if I come straight back I won't stumble. I couldn't do them in one continous set though, each time I lowered the bar to my shoulders I had…
  • Hiya, I did my first stage two workout today. It felt a bit strange after getting so confidant with stage 1, to suddenly feel so uncoordinated and unsure again. I thought I could do the elevated lunges with the same weight I had been doing normal lunges with, but I did 2 reps and the just put those babies on the floor and…
  • Ah. thanks for that jarrettd. I wanted to practice without the weight, but couldn't find a suitable bar/stick at the gym. I think I'll go home and practice with the broom!
  • I did this for the first time today. Aside from feeling really uncoordinated, my wrists really really hurt too. I can't figure out where the bar was supposed to go - it hurt on *any* part of my shoulder or else ended up just about sitting on my collar bone. Gaahh.
  • I spend my rest periods getting my breath back, drinking water and wiping up sweat. Also for split sets I'll be walking backwards and forwards between where I do each kind of exercise.
  • Hi Guys, I'm just starting this too. I did my first run on Sunday. I'm also doing it barefoot, so I might end up taking a bit longer as it is quite intensive on the calf muscles. Maybe it is just a starting out issue, but my calves are still sore today and the rest of me felt fine after the run.
  • Hi Oceanity, Have a look at this website: http://www.cassandraforsythe.com/ . . . for an awesome series of interviews with women who have worked out (and worked hard!) through their pregnacies - the posts are called "Fit Pregnancy Interview" My impression is that the culture around pregnancy in the States (if that is where…
  • I'm currently waiting for my ordered copy of the book to arrive. I'm so impatient to get started - I was going to borrow it from the library while waiting but it is still checked out. I probably won't be able to start on Dec 1st, but I will start as soon as I get the book. I've come back to doing weights in the last six…
  • I've only been on MFP for a short while. I initially decided to ignore breastfeeding, as my 12month old is eating pretty well. But he is still feeding 2/3 times a day - at bedtime, in the middle of the night and what feels like an hour in the morning! I've gone back to work full time and spending my lunch breaks at the gym…
  • I follow the blog of this author, and apparently there have been some really good results from using this DVD: http://www.alignedandwell.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&product_id=6&flypage=flypage.tpl&pop=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1 Another option for you that is not too expensive!
