  • Feel free to add me - last time I was here I lost 45 of the 70lbs I was trying to lose, but have slowly gained it all back plus 15 more. I know the struggle, so let's do this together!
  • That's why I tend to work out after I get off work. In addition to taking up time, the exercise kills my appetite for about an hour - that way by the time I fix dinner, I'm ready to eat that instead of snacking until then.
  • My goal is 20g/day which I think is the recommended minimum. If I don't hit that goal, I'm generally within a few grams of it. Lots of fruits and veggies (especially the green ones) help, plus beans are usually what get me there.
  • If working for the government has taught me anything - it's how to judge others. We're better at it than the mean girls at your high school with a list of all your weak spots. But seriously, we all judge. Most of us have the good sense to keep it to ourselves because really, who gives a *kitten* otherwise?
  • How interesting - I was just trying to figure out how to keep my running up after finishing a half marathon this Saturday. Last time I did it, I just stopped running for a month or three (resting on my laurels, natch) and it took me wa~ay too long to get back into it once I started again. So I'm gonna set a goal for 50mi,…
  • Gonna second (or whatever) the call to go to a knowledgeable running store - they'll fit you right. If you were in Nashville, I'd recommend Fleet Feet, but I don't know if they have a store in Maryville. If you have a running group nearby, join up with them and ask if they have any recommendations for where you can get…
  • Not doing the 5:2 method, but I am doing intermittent fasting as well (I prefer the 16:8 method). You may want to check out the Intermittent Fasting group, it's pretty active. I think there's also a specific 5:2 group as well.
  • Mmmm, tequila sunrises. I don't always like tequila, but if I'm drinking tequila, it's in a tequila sunrise.
  • They're all my favorite (except beer), lol. But currently I'm on a bourbon kick, tho I love spiced rum too. If they're crap tier booze, then I mix them with Cherry Coke Zero, Fresca, or Mello Yello Zero. Or sweet tea. Otherwise I drink them on ice. Yummy!
  • I run (well, it's really more of a fast trot) too and it'd be nice to have some running friends. I'm training for a half marathon that's in a couple months so I could use all the encouragement I can get. I've never done a C25K program, but a number of my friends have and they swear by them.
  • Not in this order, but: Turn Down For What - Lil Jon and DJ Snake Power - Kanye West Breath of Life - Florence + the Machine Absurd - Fluke What You Want - Evanescence Anything for You - Evanescence actually, lots of Evanescence Eyes on Me - Celine Dion Live Your Dreams - Athena Cage One More Night - Maroon 5 Hablan De…
  • You're right, and that's ultimately what I had decided to do, but it's nice to hear it from someone else. I think for the most part I'm over my plateau - I just gotta pay more attention to what I cram in my pie-hole. Which was my whole problem in the first place, haha! Good luck on meeting your goal next quarter!
  • Ah, came in at 166lbs, so less than half way to my goal. Not sure if I should reassess, since 10lbs/3mo is an achievable goal, but this is the 2nd time I have missed my goal.
  • Sorry about your cruddy day. *hugs* Depending on how severe the stress is, sometimes I'll just declare it an impromptu cheat day and just go nuts. Then I'll just be strict(er) the rest of the week. Usually though, in that case I don't actually stuff myself as much as I would in years past - I guess the fact that I've been…
  • Yeah... I didn't meet my December goal (off by just one 1lb!) and since then I've hit a plateau. I kept losing and gaining the same 5lbs - super annoying! I think *crosses fingers, knocks on wood* that I've started losing again, but I'm not celebrating until I've got a couple more weeks of losses under my belt. I probably…
  • Oh man, I'm glad other people hate that quote too; I thought I was all alone. Ahem, to answer the question: loaded cheese fries with ranch dark chocolate peanut butter cups vodka/rum fresh bread
  • Congrats to those that made it, I'm 3lbs shy of mine. Gonna try to do better this next go round.
  • Huh, well it's worth a shot. I hate burpees though, they are of the devil.
  • Yeah... Let's not talk about that. ._. I knew this year would be kinda bad since my inspiration was at a minimum. At least I started this year, which is more than I can say for some of the other years I've intended to do Nano.
  • I haven't the slightest idea. ._. On the other hand, I do have all these plot bunnies waiting to be transformed into something more than a vague outline, so maybe I'll take a gander at some of them.

  • Congrats, both of you! I started running back in April, but I didn't really take it seriously until a couple of months ago. I've signed up for a 5k towards the end of October and i'm really looking forward to it. I can run/walk 3mi in about 45 minutes, but i'd like to get my time down to 30 minutes. I don't think that'll…
  • I like the way you think! I actually started down that route last year, but fizzled out under work stress. This year I've got everything under control on that front, barring some massive disaster, so I think I'll be good to take on the challenge. I use Nano as a kick in the pants for my writing (it always slacks off once…
  • Hey there! I'm kitkatrose on the Nano forums and I don't actually remember the first year I did Nano (2004 or 05, I think). There's only been a couple of years where life kicked me in the pants so hard I just couldn't do it, but hopefully I'll be motivated enough to do it again this year. I love to write science/political…
  • Okay, I'm in! Start weight 179lbs and my goal is to lose (at least) 10lbs per quarter. I think that's doable for me.
  • I don't - in addition to my cardio stuff, I do yoga and before, I did body weight strength training.
  • Woohoo! I'm signing up too with a group - looks like there'll be a few MFP folks there. I'm pretty excited about this, which is the first time I've ever been able to say that about running.
  • I have a bikini for mine. I'm planning a vacation for the end of September and I need to be able to wear this bikini like burning. I haven't bought it yet because it costs too much for me to get the wrong size and have to return it, but I know I'll be able to wear it soon.
  • I love to roast mine with zucchini and eggplant. I get a whole bunch of those veggies, toss them with olive oil (or your choice), salt, pepper, garlic, balsamic vinegar and Worcestershire sauce and put in the oven on 350 until tender - about 30 minutes I think. So delicious.
  • Usually I just force myself to do it and complain mentally the whole time. I don't really have a better answer than that. I do manage to come up with some creative insults though, so I guess that's something. The snacking isn't too bad for me, I just get salty and sweet cravings and have snarfed down chips or candy…
