  • I have a Cyclops and I love it yes it makes some noise but I can hear the TV just fine. I have Spinervals DVD to ride to and you get a great work out. A fan is a great idea because you really sweat. I paid about $300 on Amazon for mine and so simple to set up. You want the block for under the front tire to keep it level.
  • I agree too much too soon, you have to condition your body to handle all that stress you are putting on it. Not saying you can't do a half you can but you have to ease into it. Rest days are equally as important as training days. Trust me I am learning the hard way. I have been running for about 5 years and ran to many…
  • Stretch and roll on foam roller after each run. I sometimes will stop mid run just to stretch and find that helps recovery. Ice your shins post run as well.
  • Garmin Forerunner with Heart Rate Monitor is your best way to measure accurately.
  • If you get him camo gear make sure it is a soft fabric, so many of they are to noisy. Give it the rub test in the store and if it makes a sound pass on it.
  • I have swam with my contacts in with goggles, but I do know you can order goggles with a prescription. My BIL wore his snorkelling, not sure where he got them but they are out there.
  • I do most of my classes with my eyes closed, just do it you will be glad you dud.
  • Take a mat water bottle and a small towel. You will sweat more than you think. Try to meet the instructor before so they know you are a new by. They should give options with each pose and remember that there is not ego's in Yoga go and do as much as you can. The instructor should walk around the room and readjust anyone…
  • I don't have PF but other foot issues so I can't run right now even walking us painful. I swim( I see you can't do that) I also ride my bike. I have a trainer set up to ride inside now that the weather doesn't allow outside riding.
  • I ran all winter last year I live in the Canadian Rockies so it gets cold as well I layered up long running tights, short sleeve running shirt, long sleeve running shirt, light weight running jacket. I found Point 6 (Merion wool) socks the best or Smart wool, I didn't realize how good they were until I went out without…
  • I have done 6 Sprints and train with others that have done full Ironman, one of our group wanted to train for an Ironman before ever doing a Tri and our trainer highly recommended doing at least an Olympic first. I would suggest train for the half but try to get in a Tri earlier just to get used to the three sports in one…
  • Brick= swim to bike or bike to run
  • Sorry I can't copy the link but it is on Food.com Bacon wrapped Venison Tenderloin very good not low in points but very tasty.
  • I cook venison all the time, I will mix the ground venison with ground beef and use it in meatloaf, spaghetti sauce, meatballs and chili. I rarely use it alone just because it maybe to dry. I have a recipe for a fabulous tenderloin and I will look it up.
  • Lucky you our water is never that warm last year one swim the water was only 13C so it was cold. I use the towel to dry my feet only just to help getting socks on. I swim in my bike/ Tri shorts and sports bra so I only need to put on a shirt.
  • When you get there to set up you may have a spot designated or it may be random racking. Rack your bike and this is what I do and bring. Towel, wet suit , cap, goggles, bike shoes, socks, bike shirt, helmet, glasses,Garmin, race number belt, running shoes, running cap. I lay out my towel depending on how much space is allowed…
  • Nope rolling over is not a sign of problems I have seen swimmers do the entire swim on their backs. In any Tri I have done they ask us to wave our hand up in the air if you need help or a rest boat. My friend that has done 2 Ironman was in a swim a couple years ago and all of a sudden had a panic attack. She waved for the…
  • The swim is usually the hardest part if you get tired roll over and do the backstroke for a bit. I train for at least 1500M swim when the race is only 750M but most important is the open water swim. You can do it I am 61 learned to swim when I was 57, 6 Tri's done 6 first place in age.
  • Will a Yoga Mat help.
  • I live farther north in Canada and I did my first Sprint this year at the end of May, we only had about a month to ride outside. I went to Spin class all winter and ran outside all winter. I am lucky enough to have access to a heated outdoor pool all year long. We did get in a few lake swims before the race, man it was…
  • There are many that do their first Tri on a mountain bike so don't worry about a road bike, you can do it easily without special bike shoes just good runners and ride in them. Depending on the time of the year and race will determine if you need a wet suit, we always wear them but that is because our water is cold.
  • I have done 6 sprints and I had to learn to swim before my first. I swim 2X a week run3x and bike 2X. As it gets closer to your first Tri you will want to put a few bricks together, that is bike to run transitions. The first time I got off the bike and ran I felt like I had big lumps in my shoes and my legs weren't moving.…
  • Jade, Dustin, Brant, Beckett, Jett, Jager
  • Look to do some swimming drills to increase your swimming strength and distance, spin classes helped me take 7 minutes off my bike time from last year, and keep up the running. Come spring you can do some bricks to get the muscles used to getting off the bike and running. Have fun Tris are the best.
  • I second MovinComfort bras they are great. Get it fitted and nothing moves. I have had mine for 4 years never in the dryer and they really last. I paid about$65 for it but well worth it. I bought mine at a running store.
  • I love Smart Wool socks my feet never sweat in them. Point 6 is my favourite brand, not sure you can get them on Amazon.
