Excellent! Congratulations!

BMI isn't useless but just a rough estimate that applies to most people. I consider my BMI but supplement it with the mirror test. If my BMI is high and I look fat, I'm fat. If you still think it's not worth anything then don't use it. Just don't expect everyone to follow suit.

I did years ago. It is absolutely possible but not desirable. This time around, I decided weight loss wasn't enough, I wanted to be fit and for that you need exercise.

I've known people on MFP who don't even bother logging vegetables. I believe them when they say they couldn't possibly eat too many calories via vegetables. But everyone is different. I can and I have. There are in fact overweight vegans. They may be uncommon but they do exist. About 35% of my daily caloric allowance is…

I accidentally did that once myself. Fortunately, a woman friend happened to be walking out and caught me at the door.

#20 When you spot a good picture or animated gif elsewhere, you save it for later so you can use it on an MFP message board.

It's no surprise that our caloric allowance goes down as we shrink, but I've never seen mine go that low.

I've been wearing mine every day for 5 month. I have a friends list and sometimes compare my steps to theirs but not often. I avoid head-to-head competitions because I don't want to put more time into it than it's worth. There's a lot going on in my life and exercise is just one of them.

My wife takes Tamoxifen and hasn't gained weight.

Tell him to enjoy his haul and that you won't be participating.

Hunger has a psychological as well as a physical component. I am hungry all the time at home. If I go out and do something, anything, the hunger abates. Some people think that hunger is a sign of not eating enough. Not always.

I'm 62. When I was in my 40's, I did a lot of huffing and puffing and had aches and pains I chalked up to getting older. It turns out I was just fat. I'm in a lot better shape now then I was then.

Perhaps it was an attempt at a joke as he imagined people typing "spotted dick"... somewhere...
-
Sooo.... where exactly do you "type this in"?

What's wrong with the 236 you have?

Daily weigher here. Every day for 3 1/2 years now. I understand that it's not for everyone. The daily fluctuations are too much for some people. But if it doesn't bother you, a daily weigh-in provides a very accurate picture of your weight if you look at a weekly average. It takes out the highs and lows.

There are no universal rules, just what's right for each of us. I lost weight and gained much of it back when I quit logging. I am now a permanent food tracker since November 2011. I am also one of those people who weighs himself every morning. It's right for me but I don't think it's right for most people. There are…

You've had a rough time of it. All the best to you!

My wife never needed to lose weight and when she offered to change her meals so I wouldn't be tempted, I suggested she eat whatever she wants. The outside world isn't going to accomodate me so I figured I might as well get used to temptation.

Same reason I close my blinds in my house. For privacy.

I'm used to it. I don't care.

"Did anyone else have a "last meal"? " No. My whole approach has been to get myself to stop thinking of food as entertainment or reward. A last meal would have been to affirm that I was about to embark on some long deprivation. That's a tough way to start.

There were just friendly this-isnt-going-anywhere breakups. No one got dumped. Got married a long time now and she's stuck with me.
-
My advice is to go with whichever of those alternatives you like and are comfortable with. I have a feeling you're going to do very well.

No. For me, a habit is an every day thing.
