The best way to be accurate with the swim is to wear a HRM. I found while wearing mine and swimming 1 mile (Free) in ~32 minutes my calorie burn was usually within 10% of MFP.

^^This for sure.

Deciding to complete a race helped me become motivated to run more. At first I dreaded every day I was supposed to run. I started c25k but found my cardio level and previous running experience made the first 4 weeks boringly easy but that I was struggling with enjoying anything past that. I ended up just repeating week 5…

Quoted from here: http://www.livestrong.com/article/224566-how-much-will-my-running-pace-improve-if-i-lose-weight/ Joe Henderson, the author of various books on running, has this to offer: "The loss of a single pound doesn't mean much for a single mile, but the effect multiplies nicely. Ten pounds equals 20 seconds per…

If concerned about if the calories are correct you can use an alternate source to verfy. Another alternative is to wear a Heart rate monitor which will give you a closer number. I swim a ton and use a HRM and it's usually pretty close to MFP on the swimming. Or, only eat back half your swim calories if you are afraid of…

Fantastic job Marine! You're going to do awesome tomorrow!

Since you have mentioned a specific running distance try looking at this: http://www.halhigdon.com/training/51122/10K-Novice-Training-Program ... It is an easy to follow schedule that won't have you over training in one thing or another. To address your interval questions I would suggest reading the following: The how and…

That's awesome progress. Keep it up!

First off congratulations on your weight loss! That's fantastic and its very noticeable in the before/after pictures that you have posted. /cheers! It sounds like you have a great grasp of what you need to do. Eat more. I think the groups listed below is a great place to start. I understand how hard it can be to increase…

Congratulations! That's an awesome accomplishment. If you would like to work on improving your speed I'd suggest doing an interval work out at least once a week like on week 6 workout 2. Instead of just trying to make it through the 10 minutes of jogging try pushing your pace a little above your comfort zone. :)

Amazing job. That's some awesome work! :)

Keep your work outs simple, light, easy to follow and repeatable untill they become habit and then look at bumping up your intensity. Repition is how you set habits. 3x's a week for 3-4 weeks and you may have set a habit, it might take a little longer then that. Everybody is different and only you can figure that out for…

I ride a 2000 R1 but have ridden a few others to include a VTX 1300 and 1800's. I think you should buy a nice bike. However, I do believe in buying used, especially for a very first bike. :) Also, before you spend money on upgrades spend it on safety equipment and training. Just my .02.

I've definitely put down my kick stand and walked back to a car a time or two. Idiots consistently tailgate motorcycles. I guess people think just because we can go fast that we should all the time.

I really like Endomondo Pro. Even tracks what music I'm listening to while using it and allows you to setup custom run sequences for intervals or HIIT.

A year ago I couldn't swim more then a lap without having to stop and catch my breath. 50 pounds less and 1 year and my longest freestyle non-stop swim was 3.25 miles in 1h:53m... I averaged around 2-3x's swimming a week. This is how I did it - 1 - The body is lazy and will naturally try to stop you. For the most part you…

www.bodybuilding.com has a huge informational section on proteins and all supplements. Plus you can read user reviews on taste and quality. I order all my supplements from their as well. I also prefer Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein Gold Standard. Double Rich chocolate is awesome! Vanilla mixed with orange juice I hear…

I'm not a fan of diet anything. If you are going to consume something though you can make it beneficial. Try drinking a Casein protein shake. I use Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Casein - Chocolate Peanut Butter and it is pretty tasty in my opinion. Almost everybody can use more protein in their diet and Casein is…

Go with the HRM. MFP doesn't know you're actual effort where your HRM is more likely to register the differences in HR which may translate to higher calorie burns. For instance. If I walk on the treadmill at 3.0 mph but max elevation I'm going to burn about 500 calories in an hour. 3.0 MPH on a level surface will only burn…

That's fantastic. You have the right to be proud. Great job!

That's sweet! Great job!

I was just at Upper Emerald Pool in Zion this last weekend. It is a special serene place.

I just finished my first Triathlon and my kids were there to cheer me on. My biggest reason for exercise is to be a positive role model to my kids.

Awesome work man. You look like a totally different person and I'm sure you feel like a totally different person. Great job!

Congratulations! Make sure you aren't even close to your max weight when you ship. You don't want to be a diet recruit!
-
Thanks! Because of all the variables I find my heart rate monitor has been the best at calculating my calories. Even in the pool it seems to do well. I know nothing is 100% but HRM is pretty dang close.
