  • Sorry for the late reply! I am breast cancer survivor also. DCIS in 2010. Lumpectomy and 33-seasons of RADS. I have used MFP on and off for years and really like this site.
  • I tend to eat the same things too which then causes me to get bored which gets me into trouble with eating things I shouldn't. I also don't really cook (especially cooking for one person which is a pain) and I am super busy, so I tend to pick up four or five meals a week from MyFit Foods which are low calorie (I get the…
  • I am 5''11 and just recently got back on MFP about three weeks ago because at 195 I was the heaviest I have EVER been. The thinnest was about four years ago when I was at 142 which was almost too thin for me. My goal is around 155.... I have lost 10 so far so hopefully can keep on going. I wear a size 12 right now. Always…
  • Water, Crystal Light, Diet Cranberry juice and coffee (mornings only). I will have a beer every week or so. :)
  • I love the Fiber One brownies and they only have 90 calories and I think they taste just like real brownies. :) I also usually have some sort of whole grain or multi-grain muffin for breakfast. So between these two items I usually always get enough fiber. I am not a veggie and fruit eater really either.
  • When I went through breast cancer and treatment a couple years ago I did my best to try to take something positive out of it. Having always been someone that ALWAYS pretty much did everything for myself, going through cancer treatment wiped me out and I HAD to ask for an accept help. And help was there in the form of my…
  • I am not a breakfast person either but have found that eating breakfast does help me not be as hungry come lunchtime so I tend to eat better then also. My most recent favorite and easy breakfast is a whole grain or multi-grain English muffin with a Laughing Cow Light Creamy Cheese wedge spread on it. It keeps me full, is…
  • I had DCIS breast cancer.... had a lumpectomy and then 33 sessions of radiation. I have been No Evidence of Disease now for about 2 1/2 years. :)
  • Hi all! I am in South Austin off Slaughter and 35. I have used MFP in the past and did great... then went through breast cancer in 2010 (all good now) but between recovery from that and then just being lazy and too much BBQ and beer, I am back on here needing to lose about 30 pounds or so. If anyone in my area ever wants…
  • If anyone can burn something it is me.... yet I can always manage to cook chicken breasts well! I put tin foil on the bottom of a baking sheet. Pre-heat oven to 350. Once it is ready in it goes. If it is thicker I do 30 mins. If it is a thin sliced one I cook for 22 mins. I usually marinate it in lemon and lime juice with…
  • Welcome!!!! I don't always stay in my calories.. though I try. I am on the 1200 calorie plan... HOWEVER... usually 6 days out of the week I exercise and manage to burn at least 600 or so calories doing that. I tend to eat back at least 300 of my exercise calories so at 1500 calories a day it isn't that hard for me to stay…
  • I quit cold turkey April 1, 2012... so about 3 1/2 months ago. I smoked a pack a day for 25 years. I just woke up one day and realized I was done and haven't smoked since. I DID gain about 10 pounds because then I was eating all the time but have finally started exercising much more and it is amazing how much better I can…
  • I am a breast cancer survivor also.... will be two years NED this Oct. :) Feel free to add me as a friend on here if you like! I will say that I too gained weight going through treatment and due to some complications from radiation I am just now getting back to where I can exercise again. I have had to learn many tips and…
  • I did a very strict 1200 calorie diet in the past and I lost weight - like 30 pounds. However I wasn't exercising so ended up with some flab and was not toned, and I gained the weight back because I could not stay at 1200 calories. MFP does have me again at 1200 calories, however, I make sure to exercise pretty much every…
  • I have to take mine with me because I am often on call for work and HAVE to answer. However, I ALWAYS put it on SILENT and just check it every few minutes. I have had to answer it while on the elliptical (I run a foster care agency so I can not NOT answer) but I always ask if I can call back or if I have to talk right then…
  • Breaking Bad..... is awesome. I just got into it and they have all of seasons 1-4 on streaming Netflix. Season 5 JUST started last night.
  • A small apple is good too! Sweet and not that many calories. And if you cut it up into lots of pieces it takes a long time to eat. :)
  • MFP tends to run high so I always enter the amount the machine said I burned (since it factors in my weight, age and resistance levels). Even then I still don't eat back all of my exercise calories just in case even the machine is too high.
  • Welcome!!!! I am right there with you... I too am tall (almost six foot) and therefore have always carried my weight better than my shorter friends... which has been my excuse for some time for not really taking a look at myself and knowing that I need to make some changes. My downward path started two years ago.... and…
  • I am two years out from surgery (lumpectomy) and Oct will be 2 years since I finished 33 sessions of RADS. I gained probably 15 pounds during everything and am finally able to be back to where I can work on losing it without being in pain all the time from the scar tissue in my breast.
  • Congrats on making it through breast cancer! I too am a breast cancer survivor and probably gained 10-15 pounds myself. May I ask what your treatment was? I had a lumpectomy and then 33 sessions of RADS. This Oct will be my 2 years of NED. :) I had MANY issues stemming from radiation and finally found some things that work…
  • Thank you so much to those of you that have replied so far. I may try to cut down on eating all of my exercise calories back but make sure that I always net at least 1200 as I don't want to go into stavation mode. I do drink a ton of water... at least 12 glasses a day, and I vary my exercise between jogging, yoga, and…
  • Thanks to whoever started this thread! I am 5'11 and 170 right now. Trying to get back to about 155. I just finished almost 2 months of radiation for breast cancer treatment in October and while going through treatment was too tired to exercise and had to eat LOTS of protein and calories to help repair all my cells that…
  • Just as a follow up... I got a pedometer and while the step count is off on WIO, the calories burned are pretty close to what the pedometer is saying I burned. So good to know!
  • I have found that as long as I work out and eat at least 1500 calories (and then on days I don't work out eat just 1200) I can drop weight pretty easy. When I was working out and burning 400 plus calories a day and still only eating 1200 the weight came off much slower. So I think there is something to it to eat your…
  • I eat like you do! Though I am also super picky and not too into many things that I guess would be considered "healthy". For snacks I tend to eat things like Wheat Thins, Special K bars, Sunkist fruit snacks, suger free jello cups, and rice cakes. I have also come up with my won twist on recipies to cut down calories...…
