I simmer it on the stove. The 5 min. kind is not as good as the regular kind that takes 30 min. of simmering. It's still way taster to me, now, than the rolled oats. I can't even eat the rolled oats anymore. The first time I said "this is like eating rocks", but now I love the nutty flavor and more full body. I always put…

Nothing keeps me full! So I have a small breakfast, and a power snack by 10. I am always hungry again by 10am no matter what. So I just plan on it and go light early.

I also use MFP to see how healthy i'm eating. It gives at least an overview of nutrition in my daily food. That little button at the end of your diary at the end of the day will let you see where you stand on all the micros, not just the macros. The last motive I use is to fill my diary up with all the food I ate. Because…

All the little bits of this and that add up to a bunch of my meal or day's worth of calories allotted. If I don't keep track I inch up and overeat. It's also really easy to say "oh it's just ....." (whatever it is). That can sabotage me. I'm a good denier. Also measure and weigh things. It really does add up. Sometimes a…

Amazing doesn't even cut it! Wow, great job!!

You are not eating even what you said you need to eat according to your diary. Get a heart rate monitor and then assume that you are recording your more accurate exercise calories if that's what is worrying you. Eat 1795 and then your exercise calories, or at least what you MFP goal says.

When I was young I could eat anything, or under eat, and I'd spring back to healthy looking with little effort and time. Now i'm 51 and it's different. It's slower progress, but the best progress still happens and I believe i'm in better shape than when I was in my 30's. Maybe even my 20's. You have to eat your exercise…

I didn't see this one mentioned: pumpkin seeds. I was anemic due to heavy periods. Tried to increase my iron in food like a maniac. The only thing that helped was taking iron supplements. Because it's so constipating to me I was able to go with natures bounty 28mg iron (only one), once a day (with breakfast or it makes me…

Wow! What an accomplishment! It looks like the husband has slimmed some as well. But you have completely transformed!

This site is good for also tracking nutrition. So log them and you can also be healthy. Not just skinny.

It's mean and hurtfull. It does't make you weak if you feel bad about it. They are being small. You have some choices. You can swallow it and take the higher ground. This probably solves nothing because it's them and they'll keep it up. You can find a job where the people are more positive and you can thrive on your own…

I don't wear make up. I don't spend time on my hair very often. I don't dress up much.We have a society that thinks women have to be objects to be looked at. I don't buy into it, but it's all around. I have 2 girls and 2 granddaughters. I'm smart, they are smart. Their self worth and confidence has nothing at all to do…

Whenever junk makes me feel sick I count it as a win! You are doing something right! You can get used to it again, but eating and feeling better is it's own positive reinforcement if you don't slide too long and forget what "good" feels like. Yay you!
-
That is so awesome! You really do look great! I laughed out loud at the pillow picture. This is very unselfish to be healthy for your kids. You did a great thing!! Keep it up!!

I'm not anti supplement. Some people need extra in their diets. Most people probably don't. I take iron. I probably ought to get more calcium. I think glucosamine helps me. Most people ought to decide that for themselves instead of fad supplements. I don't personally believe in a handfull of things that I should be…

If they worked so great, there wouldn't be so much money to be made, or such wide variety. Long term sustainable healthy eating and activity. That's not glamorous or fast, but it works. If, however, you can't get enough nutrition with food, then you have a big variety of supplements to fill that. I like food... I have to…

bump, I have never liked my crock pot but i'd like to come home to food already cooked

It's not magic, or fast. So it's not exciting. But it works in the long run. If you aren't in it for the long run, you aren't really here for the boring slow progress that lasts for the long run. Healthy does sound boring. Thats why there are shows like Dr. Oz and weight loss programs or drug solutions like on TV. Thats…

That is a huge difference! Keep those pictures! It seems like it takes a year to see yourself in the mirror. The old pictures will still look crazy! Even if you feel like you've backtracked some, those pictures can keep your head level. So, store them away so you remember how far you came and don't go back!
-
That could just have been you were late for lunch when you did it. Or fresh from exercise. Or didn't have much carbs that day before the testing.
-
Bump!
-
Wowie, you were pretty before but now you are super cute and you are beautiful! It takes a long time for your brain to catch up, so keep taking those pictures and keep them around! You are doing some wonderful things for yourself! Keep it up!
-
Looking great! And I'm sure feeling much more springy! That first picture looks uncomfortable! You fit into your skin now, and i'm sure you are adding years of health to your life! Keep it up!

It took me a year to lose 50lbs. But it's a permanent change, all new habits, healthier than i've ever been, and no yo-yoing. Worth it. Eat enough keep increasing and changing up exercise, keep going. I'm 51, Peri-menapausal and it's much harder. I never had so much trouble losing weight in places I never even carried it…
-
Wowing! Big changes! Keep it up, you are looking, and no doubt feeling, great! How great is that your wife works out with you, too.

Once you get toward the end of your MFP trail (journey is too corny) you will have so much more compassion when you stand next to someone having trouble keeping out of everyone's personal spaces and fitting into seats. This purse woman .... well you know. Having gone through your life, you're going to be the better person.…

If you are going up towards Washington, my Daughter lived a few years in Idaho and said it was beautiful for camping and nature.

A-mazing! You look great, your story is great--Go you! You changed your history!

It seems like if you want to know the source of your burger (easiest to hide other meats and "things" in ground meat) then get a hunk of meat thats harder to fake--like a roast. You know it came from one animal because it's a hunk of one muscle. Get an attachment to your power mixer like a kitchen aide, and grind your own…
