I think a FitBit is very accurate. It is all based on your heart rate.

I have never lost inches without losing weight, however, I have lost 3 lbs that looked like 5 or 10 lbs because of weight lifting and working out 4-5 days a week. I also find that changing my calories based on my activity makes a huge difference. I eat more on days I'm more active, eat less on more sedentary days.

The important thing is to stay hydrated while breast feeding and eat high quality calories.

Congrats!! It is amazing how dense muscle is and how you can weigh more but take up less space.
-
All I might suggest is changing it up a bit. Maybe add in a circuit training one day instead of straight up weight lifting?
-
Maybe your goal should be a size instead of pounds lost? I was obsessed with getting to a certain number and my body would not do it. However, I did lose inches and was wearing a size 8 which was my goal.

Depends on your weight but the average is 1500 to 1700 calories. If you are under 150 lbs, I thinks is 1200 to 1500 calories

In my experience, it is good to rotate your calories up and down because it tricks your metablism. If you have a sit down job, and do not exercise, it will probably take you a long time to lose weight. Is there any way to fit in a 20 mins walk somwhere?

I am on the "21 day fix" through Beachbody. I am eating 1500 cal a day and working out every day.
-
I am on week 2 of the 21 day fix. I agree - meal prep is the best advice. Cut up veggies, fruits and mean at beginning of week and make it easier on yourself. I am on day 7 and feel great. !!
-
I'm on the "21 day fix" right now. I'm on day 3 and clothes already feel better. Add me as a friend if you want to chat about th progress.

Me too. I'm in my last year of 40's and hoping to lost 15 lbs before age 50!!

I would try to figure out how many calories you can add to your 'dieting' calories before you begin to gain weight. Maintenance is a very touchy area. If you are not careful, you can put the weight back on quickly. Slowly add few more calories and weigh youself once a week.
-
From everything I have read, on the days you are weight lifting, you do need more calories. I personally found that I could only cheat on my diet once or twice a week - meaning one or two meals a week of eating and drinking what I want - to maintain my weight. That was weight training 2 times per week, cardio 2 times per…

Okay- I lost 2 of the 7 holiday pounds. On the right track - 40 or not !!
-
I also have a desk job and also drive 45 mins each way to work. I would say you don't really need a rest day from cardio / walking but you would need one if you were lifting weights.

I'm 5'6 1/2" and I weigh 161 right now. My weight has ranged from 135 in my 20's all the way to 170 after Christmas or after I had my twins. All the height and weight calculators say I should weigh around 155 and I have noticed that when I weighed 156 last summer, working out with weights, I looked pretty good. Also - I…

It sounds like your body adjusted well to the change. Did you add a weight lifting session and reduce your cardio?

Losing 4-5 lbs the first week is phenomenal !! Give it two more weeks. I have found that if I lose 2 lbs in one week, then I don't lose any for 2-3 weeks. However, I'm a terrible 'weight loser' but keep with it and like the others said, eat back at least 1/2 your exercise calories.
-
So, I gained 7 holiday pounds so I'm back to trying to drop that weight. My trainer tells me to eat 1200 calories a day, work out with weights at least 2 days a week and cardio 5-6 days per week. That seems extreme to me. However, maybe it works? I'm just not willing to starve myself.
-
Try getting a fitness watch or Bodymedia to find out how many calories you are burning? On weight lifting days, you might need way more calories.
-
I like what your trainer has to say. My train says to eat 1200 calories, which I CANNOT do.

I had been at "Weight Watcher" on and off for 9 years. This database is much easier to use. It counts EVERY calorie, there are no "free" foods which I believe is key to losing weight. Even oranges have calories. Also - the exercise database is fairly accurate. I checked it against my fitness watch and its very close.

I have been trying to reach my goal of 150 lbs since January 6th. I lost steadily(only 2 lbs per month mind you) until June 1st and now completely stuck. However, I usually begin to gain so I'm glad i have maintained my loss as long as I have. I know I have to change something to break the plateau, just not sure what it…

This is a great support group. I go to myfitpal because my friends never seem to "stick with it".
-
Do you believe in the "eat more to weight less" belief or do you have to eat 1200 calories a day - which to me is starving.
-
Did anyone lose those 10 lbs since this post?? I can't budge. Stuck at 156.6 or 157.6 - totally stuck ~!!!
-
I felt the same way in high school. I was not good at most sports, however, I have tried most of them and been at least average. I do sports to socialize and stay active, not really to "win".
-
I feel your pain too !! It is sooo frustrating to only lose 1 lb in a month or no lbs in 2 months but yes, the clothes are fitting better and if you are not gaining - KEEP with it.
-
I think the older you get, you have no choice with exercise. You MUST workout. I hear that "muscle-fat" stuff all the time but I don't fully believe it. When I lose weight, my clothes are looser, when I gain weight, they are tighter. I've never lost inches without losing weight.
