  • I do strength training 2 days per week but in a 'circuit style workout so i get cardio with it. I think the cut is 1500 calories a day. Wondering if 100 calories a day will help ?
  • I am trying this myself. I am "eating clean" for the next 3 weeks and see if that makes a difference. Is your 2300 calories "clean" low sugar, veggies, high protein?
  • Never thought I would get up at 6:00 a.m. and go biking for 40 mins in the a.m. Its the only way to get in the cardio when you have kids !!
  • How did you do it? Did you have to eat 1200 cals a day ??
  • Its funny how that works. I was 135 lbs in my 20's and worked out like crazy to get to 128 !! Not - I'd be eternally greatful to get to 145 - 150 lbs. I can't figure out why I'm stuck. I've read the "ear more to weigh less" group info but I'm too afraid to increase my calories to 'reset' my metabolism. My intituition tells…
  • I read the book "The New Rules of Lifting for Women" and that book said if you are working out very hard, 60 minutes per session, with weights, that you should shoot for 100 grams of protein on the days you workout really hard. The list was first get it from meat/chicken, then dairy then whey protein as it is broken down…
  • If I go on vacation and don't sit around, I lose 2 lbs. Sedentary jobs are th worst. Although I do have energy for exercise at the end of the day.
  • I tried eating at BMR net (i.e. 1600 calories - exercise - netting BMR (which is 1374). I lost nothing. So I tried eating 1400 calories, some days less, some days more - still exercising and lost 1 lb. 1600 calories is too much for me. Even with exercise.
  • I guess we all have this 'cross to bear'. Even my super skinny friends (5'4 115) are now a plump 140-145 soo - I guess we have to just fight the fat and try to be in the 'healthy - not over weight range" that is my goal. 150 lbs and I will shut up.
  • Summer wreaks havoc on my diet. My goal is to at least maintain and not gain during party season. If I know about a party I'm going to I workout that day (bike about 10 miles), eat light all day then eat at the party but try to avoid too much sugar. The next day, get right back on the wagon - veggies, exercise and normal…
  • I just started eating one egg and oatmeal for breakfast. The calories are 250 and you will be filled up for 3 hours. I used to have a smoothie in the a.m. but I was hungry fairly quick afterwards. Cottage cheese is a good protein source too. Fish is excellent, if you like it. Make sure you have protein at every meal…
  • According to fitpal, I am 25.2% bodyfat. I am 5'7, 156 lbs. 38 - 30 - 38. In my skinniest, I was 36-27-36 and I was maybe 19% bodyfat??
  • I agre with this statement. I would eat somewhere between the 'eat more to lose' and 1200 cal. I can't live on 1200 either and EM2L says 1500 so I'm trying 1400 and see what happens.
  • I have 7 lbs to go and have been stuck on a plateau for 2 months. I haven't been below 156 in 10 years. Let me know if there is a secret out there!!
  • My parents didn't tell me that you could feel good, work full time, have twins and be much more financially secure than if I had started my family when they did and not be 50 lbs overweight like my mother was at the same age. Oh - and still rock to AEROSMITH !!
  • I'm not clear on the whole "starving" yourself either. I have quite a few friends that lost weight eating 1200 calories a day, got to their goal and then watch what they eat and maintain the loss. I haven't been at my "goal" yet and I also don't eat 1200 calories a day. Although if you are exercising, make sure you eat the…
  • I was wondering if anyone on this site drinks!! I stick to vodka and soda with a twist of lime or lemon. Or white wine spritzer (white wine and club soda).

  • I have the Trek Lexa road bike. I LOVE IT. I am biking about 10-12 miles per day, 3-4 days a week.
  • My doctor said it best: children who see their mothers work out show them that's its important to take care of themselves. Children come to accept it as normal - mommy works out.
  • I am a (late in life) mother of 3.5 year old twins. Thanks to the support of my husband and babysitters, I manage to get in a workout 3 - 4 times a week. It is hard to stay focused but my good health will benefit them in the long run. Best advice - don't feel guilty about working out and taking time away from them. They…
  • My trainer just looked over my MFP diary and I was averaging 1686 calories minus 300-500 exercise = 1100 to 1300 and says I am eating too much. All I know is I am stuck for the last 5 weeks and MFP 'eat to lose' keeps saying to eat more but its not working. If i lay in bed and eat 1200 cals, will I lose the weight then??
  • ASPARTAME has been around since around 1983 and AMERICA is not getting thinner, only fatter. Back in the 60's and 70's, there was alot less artificial ingredients and processed food and people were thinner. I bit of real sugar won't make you fat unless you drink a few cans a day of pop. Have your pop - one pop and take a…
  • It's "krap" food but if you must indulge, I would only do it about once every 2 weeks - not 2 to 3 times a week. I get Happy meal, burger, fries and unsweetended ice tea. PS DIET POP WILL KILL YOU - Aspartame / Splenda worse than sugar !!
  • I'm going to have to agree with most on this post. It is a combination of lower carbs and lower calories. When I did Wt. Watchers, I would eat low calorie carbs and I was starving in an hour. Then I tried a higher fat/lower carb approach and I felt much more satisfied.
  • I find this a very supportive group. It gives you every weight loss scenario so you don't get discouraged.
  • I HAS TAKEN ME 5 MONTHS TO LOSE 15 LBS - DON'T GIVE UP - I would LOVE TO LOSE 1.5 lbs in a week.
  • Thanks for everyone's replies. I went to the scooby calculator - its says my BMR IS 1425, TDEE is 1960 and To lose weight, to eat at 1568. I WILL TRY IT - and see what happens.

  • I agree with everyone here - after about a week without sugar, you can resist it. I was always tempted by sweets in the kitchen at work. After I cut sugar out for about 10 days, I could walk by sweets and resist them. I call sugar and candy "crack". I do have a little now and then but mostly fruit or a piece of cake as a…
  • I always eat back my exercise calories unless I do both circuit training and cardio the same day (which is rare). I'm too hungry to not eat back the exercise calories. So my grosse calories are usually 1600, minus 300 of exercise calories leaving me with 1300 and I am barely losing weight. I will read the 'New Rules"…

  • She is 4'11 and around 120 lbs of solid rock. She still lives the lifestyle of working out 6 days per week, circuit training but not heavy lifting. She has never taken steriods. She just passes on her own experiences to me as far as getting the fat off so you can see the muscle.
