You should be eating a "minimum" of 1200 calories a day and extra for the calories you're burning through exercise. I don't know how you can cope on 1000 calories a day but it isn't healthy.

Hi, I'm 5'2" and used to be more than 200lb. Feel free to add me :flowerforyou:

Wow! well done, you look amazing

I've been on thyroxine for 20yrs and as you can see I'm managing to lose weight. I've not come across anything which has enabled me to come off meds but there's an awful lot of confusing info out there.

You do look very young...wish someone would ID me again :grumble:

I'm not logging Christmas eve, Christmas day, Boxing day and New years eve (I'll just quick add to my calorie limit to keep my day count up). The other days I shall be super well behaved and hit the gym :-)

Walking has been my main exercise since starting this back in January. I thank my two dogs for helping with my daily calorie burn

I've been on thyroid medication for 20yrs. My weight has yoyo'd during this time but I think it had more to do with old bad eating habits than my thyroid

I think I burned a few calories just reading that post :drinker:

MFP says I should eat 1200 and when I first started on here I made the mistake of trying to stick to that and was seriously hungry. Everything came together for me when I realised 1200 was my allowance without doing any exercise. Now I always try to work at least 300 calories worth of exercise into my day and I get by just…

I eat back my exercise calories too. Just don't overestimate how much you burn :-)

Hi, I'm 5'2" and I'm also on 1200 calories a day. It is a very hard limit to stick to but I always work at earning exercise calories which I can then eat on top. Generally I end up on about 1500 calories a day which is a good amount. My weightloss has slowed down now as I get closer to goal but I'm still losing 1 to 2lbs a…

I have an underactive thyroid which is being treated with Thyroxine. The condition shouldn't stop you from losing weight but in my experience the medication won't get the weight off on its own. You need to work at it and this site is a great place to start doing that.

You're doing an amazing job, no wonder you're smiling. Well done x

Hi, I'll be interested to see the answers to this as I have a gym membership beginning in December. My ra mainly affects my hands so I try not to strain them too much but I would love to use the rowing machine at the gym. I suppose the best thing to do is take it easy and see how you feel. x

I started mfp in January and my average is about 2lb a week although it has been slowing down more recently. Although I'm not yet at goal I feel so much healthier now and I'm happy for the rest of the weight to come off slowly. Good luck with your journey x
