Hi there! I'm Dorian, I'm 31 and I'm also in gradschool + work + no kids but very needy kitties. :-) I like to eat all of my feelings and my feelings are apparently very carb-heavy. I've gained weight and lost muscle in gradschool, and was up as high as 195. I've come back down to 180, but I feel so far from the 160 goal.…

Today throughout my day I walked 7 miles, so that ain't nothin! But I am completely off my gym cardio/weight lifting routine, and I'm having a lot of trouble motivating myself. It's finals, I have a fifteen page paper due on Monday, my parents are coming Friday, and all I want to do is eat guacamole. Really Kate Moss?…

My weight this morning was 177, which is 4 pounds above my weight last week. As it is not actually possible for me to gain four pounds in a week, I can only assume that my body is freaking out with finals. Let's see what happens next week.
-
I think that sounds like fun! (Admittedly I have no idea what a biggest loser game would entail.) Report back! Good luck!
-
I managed to walk over 3 miles today. This was not me going above and beyond, but that I get in an hour of walking during finals week is the most I am prepared to ask of myself. I miss the gym.

I'm in serious crunch time for school, so my goal was to walk at least 3 miles, which I have done (it will be 4.5 by end of day). I am going to try to do situps when I get home, but forgive myself if I don't. I walked 5 miles yesterday, so goal met! But tomorrow I MUST get to the gym and do arms and legs. PS. The first…

I actually ended up walking 5 miles today. Of course, my paper's not finished yet. But I did what I committed to and I'm under goal. Now to get to writin!

Admittedly, I have to write 8 pages, give a final presentation and grade 5 papers, so I will not be going to the gym. But it is a mile and a half to school, so I will be walking to school and back, and at some point during the day walking to Starbucks, which adds another mile. (So 4 miles walking all together!)

For one thing, I am of the school that if you are actually hungry, you should eat. I mean, first make sure you're not thirsty or tired, but if you're hungry, and super extra definitely if you have calories you earned from exercise, then you should eat. I try not to eat back all of them, but I go over other days, so it's…

I'm going to burn at least 600 calories in cardio and work arms at the gym today, and I'm going to walk somewhere to do schoolwork. I had a cookie for breakfast, because I have the willpower of my cat, but I can burn it off.

OK, measurements for the day. (PS I am uncertain about that home body fat test. It asks you about everything except your waist circumference, which for me is where I carry all my fat?) Height: 5'10 Starting weight: 173 Waist circumference: 34" (I think.) Hips: 40.5" Chest: 41". Waist to hip ratio: .83 Time to hit the gym.

Hi from Atlanta!

Yup, I am happy to help moderate. I'm a student, so I've got a super flexible (if busy) schedule, so I can help run things whenever.

1. How are you eating today? I didn't eat enough today, which is what happens when I get sad, unfortunately. I'm debating whether it's worth it to shove more food in or if I shouldn't just eat extra tomorrow. (Does it work like that?) 2. What is your Mood today? Ugh, I was in a Mood today. I've been waiting to hear back…

Hi I'm Dorian! I'm a 30 year old gradstudent and I've never been the weight I really want to be. When I was 23 I was 270 pounds, and I lost 90 of them, but I never made it to goal. This summer I want to do that. I'm also headed to a wedding JUST after the challenge ends, so I'd like to use the challenge to help me look my…

Aww welcome to MFP! It's nice here! I just came back after ignoring the site in favor of Christmas cookies. Bad call. Happy to be friends!

I just apparently took my first six months of gradschool off from accountability but I want to be back and involved. If you wanted to get things started again I'd love to help! PS Hi I'm Dorian. :-)

Still at 172, and tell you what, I'm putting the scale away for a couple weeks. School is just starting and I want to think less about the weight itself and more about vegetables and walking to class.
-
Alright, I am weighing back in after not participating for oh... way too long. I was at 172 this morning, and here's hoping I continue downward.

So I have a great recipe for arugula pesto that I see no reason you couldn't also make with basil. http://inmykitchengarden.blogspot.com/2006/05/arugula-pesto-takes-over-kitchen.html What cuts down on the calories considerably is the use of chickpeas instead of pine nuts. It tastes delicious. You could also experiment with…

Ugh 172.8 this morning. Here is hoping it is water weight from the TOM and next week I will see a drop. I've been behaving for the most part, but I think I really need to step up my cardio. It's really getting me down that I probably won't make my goal of 170 by the end of August. I know how they say the last 10 are the…

I feel like continuing to log yourself as sedentary and recording the extra walking around would probably be more accurate? I feel like if you have a job where you stand/walk a lot, like as a sales clerk, you know you burn some calories there but it's hard to measure distance. But if you walk to class every day or…

Congratulations that's awesome! I hope it feels great to be in the 100s!

I have an afternoon date today, so perhaps I should think about why I am single and try not to do things that turn guys off for the next like 6 hours. Why I am single: 1. I swear I never learned how to date like a normal person. I went to a high school with no dating (and I was a freak there) and then to a college where…

Greetings from a "mostly vegetarian"! If you feel terrible after you eat beef, by all means give it up. It's not doing anything extra special for you, I promise. Honestly if you're not giving up chicken/pork/turkey/eggs etc. there's no real tips to give. Don't let people talk you into a steakhouse for your birthday. Make…

Is anyone in the group vegetarian? I'm happy to partner and swap with someone, but I do not consume the flesh, as it were. :-D (Eggs and dairy are great though.)

Atlanta is a billion gazillion degrees! Despite this, I have walked at least 2 miles every day this week. And today I started my 30 day shred, so hopefully, when school starts on the 29th, there will be some secret improvement. I'd really really like to be under 170 when school starts. (I say this, but if I wanted it so…

Hi I'm Dorian and I'm starting gradschool very soon. (August 29th! EEK!) I'm 5'10 and 174 pounds, and I'd like to get 4 pounds off by the time school starts. My goals are: To make my stomach smaller, strengthen my back, core and arms, and eat three cups of vegetables a day.
-
I'm at 173.8 this morning which is in the right direction!
-
172.3 this morning, back after like a month's hiatus and going down again!
