I too have almost always "run cold" when having my temperature taken, my Dad too. My Mom and sister, on the other hand (the leaner pair) have always run hot. I have had my thyroid tested twice in the last two years and it has always come back within the normal range...... Maybe its time to invest in a thermometer and test…

Now I'm confused. If aerobic trained muscles are smaller and more efficient, then why emphasize exercising to reach anaerobic metabolism, ie heavy weight lifting? Or did I just completely miss the point?

margaritas are LOADED with calories. Stick to vodka with club soda (mineral water) and lime.

I graduated a few years ago and I know how hard it is to keep a healthy routine in college. My first year I gained weight, then I transferred schools and changed majors and lost 25 lbs due to stress and really poor eating habits and overexercising. I know its not fun to sit and watch your friends drink and not participate.…

I keep my workouts between 5:30 and 7:30 just for this very reason! On the days you go to this fitness class, I would have maybe a slightly larger than average lunch, and then have a high protein snack about 5pm. Not only can that count as your afternoon snack, it will help give you good fuel for your workout. I would also…

Here's another recipe, I don't use articifical sweeteners......no artificial anything. Nothing processed either. I'm posting the link, for the record Elie Krieger is a fantastic source for recipes as she's a registered dietician, nutritionist and a chef. When I make these I don't use powdered sugar and I also don't cut…

Plain balsamic vinegar (either red or white) is really good too and has about 20 calories per tablespoon (which is plenty of vinegar for a salad). Also try making your own salad dressing using oil and vinegar and maybe some dijon mustard to thicken it up/creamy it up. There's very few calories in mustard, and if you use…

Honestly, just from looking at one day of your food diary, there is alot of processed food in there. I understand you're a Mom and you're just as busy (if not more) as the rest of us, but I would really try to incorporate more whole foods. Raw fruits and veggies, whole grain pastas and cereals, brown rice, if you're gonna…

Its incredibly frustrating, I have maintained my body weight for a year now, which I guess is really good but when I stopped to think about how much I exercise and what my eating habits are like, its very depressing to think "why am I not smaller?" So I'm in the same boat as you. I'm increasing and switching up my exercise…

My favorite is a soy latte (don't drink milk) with an extra shot, but that is about 130 calories and is often too sweet so instead I opt for either a iced unsweetened green tea or an americano with a splash of soymilk (iced or hot). The soy is just enough to make it sweet and I feel like I'm satisfied without being totally…

For the record, almond butter (and peanut butter for that matter) is not processed IF you stick with natural almond/peanut/nut butters. The ingredient list should just be ground nuts and maybe salt. Nut butters become processed when highly processed oils and sugars are added to increase shelf life and help keep the peanuts…

I completely agree with the beer guy. I know alot of the data is user entered, which is actually pretty great to be able to search for things and not have to enter them myself BUT! MFP should offer the option to add meals in ounces. And there should also be quantities for things like nuts, berries, etc.

Greek yogurt is one of my favorite snacks. Its very low in fat and very thick and very high in protein. I would recommend buying plain and then adding fresh fruit to it yourself as there will be less added sugars. Its excellent with strawberries, blackberries, and I also like to thaw frozen blueberries (no sugar added,…

for all intents and purposes, kilocalories and calories are equal. AKA 35 kilocalories is 35 calories. The rest of the world uses kilocalories, the US uses calories.
