I embarrassed my girlfriend by singing "Sweet Transvestite" from The Rocky Horror Show in a local bar in front of her and her Mom :)

Thanks so much everyone for all the kind words, I really appreciate it :)

Thanks everyone :) And yes, I agree with you all, Jess does look amazing :)

I'm training for a 10K in June and use Endomondo. I have an Android phone but it's available for iPhone and Blackberry too.

Welcome to MFP Heather :) 7 months ago I joined and set myself a target of 111lbs... that seemed so far off, but now I'm well over half way (62lbs) and feel better than ever! It will seem daunting at times but stick in and you'll get there. If I can do it, anyone can :) Good luck!

If you have a deficit of 3,500 calories a week, that will equate to a loss of 1lb of fat. If you eat 1,000 less calories per day, that is a weekly deficit of 7,000 calories and should lead to a weekly loss of 2lbs of fat.

Thanks so much everyone for all the encouragement :) Mikey, that is incredibly kind of you, thanks a lot! I'll sponsor you too when I get home this evening. Good luck with your run :)
-
Thanks for the advice :) I'm going to do my first run tonight, so we'll see how that goes!

Absolutely fantastic before and after pics, well done!

Don't try to cut corners, it won't help you in the long run. If you stick to a minimum 1200 calories a day, you'll lose weight healthily and you'll keep it off. Going below that minimum level will probably lead to you losing muscle rather than fat.

Great post!

Your weight can fluctuate quite a lot throughout the week - I'd really recommend not weighing in more than once a week as it can give a false impression of how you're doing.

You should definitely eat exercise calories as weight loss is due to the calorie DEFICIT you have. If you eat 1200 but burn 300 through exercise, your deficit is bigger than your daily target. That could lead to extra weight loss, but you also risk your body going into starvation mode. If you're aiming to lose 2lbs a week,…

Congratulations! Those pics are fantastic, very inspiring :)

Thanks very much everyone :) In response to the above, I always try to make sure I'm under my calorie and saturated fat daily allowances, hit (or slightly exceed) my carb and protein allowances, and exceed the daily fibre amount. I play football once a week and go to the gym 2-3 times a week. I always try to eat my…

Thanks everyone :)

I was running low on calories a couple of nights ago so I did half an hour of Wii Fit and earned enough to have a proper evening meal :)
-
As long as you know how well you've done, I don't think it matters much. For motivational purposes, I suppose going back and editing your previous weights is a good idea :)
-
Carbs are the body's primary source of energy - they are good for you :) I go over all the time... the only things I aim to stay under the daily limit are calories and saturated fat. (I've also been trying to lower my sodium intake recently). As long as you're staying within your calorie goal, you'll be fine :)
-
I totally agree with Stephanie and Doralis... once a week is advisable. Your weight fluctuates so much through the week that weighing in every day can be (a) misleading and (b) counter-productive.

I'd really recommend not weighing in so often. It can give you a false impression of how you're doing and that could dishearten you. Stick to once a week at most. Keep going :)

Someone threw a lump of cheese at me in the street the other day. I thought, "That's not very mature"!

That's absolutely fantastic! Great before and after pics! Thanks for sharing and good luck reaching your goal :)

Keep going mate, you're doing great so far. I started on 31st August and just hit the 40lb mark yesterday - really pleased! When I look in the mirror I don't see ANY difference to when I started, but I've had to buy new jeans and shirts as the old ones don't fit any more, plus lots of people have commented on how much…

I don't think it's a problem at all, I usually go over my daily goal. However, one of the fitness instructors at my gym told me that the body can only process around 30g of protein at a time, so I'd recommend not going too much over that for any one meal.

Well done mate, you're doing really well :)
