  • My daughter-in-law was using it so I checked it out...wasn't planning on doing anything, just looking at it. I calculated what I had eaten that day and realized I had consumed enough calories that I shouldn't eat for at least 3 days. Been logging in ever since...
  • I lost the 30 pounds I set out to lose, but I still get on my elliptical every morning, still weigh every morning and still log into myfitnesspal every day. With the holidays here I've upped my time on the elliptical cause I know I'm not being too good about what I'm eating. Every morning I get on the scale...I know there…
  • I reached my goal weight a few months ago. The main thing for me is continuing the elliptical and logging my meals. On the weekends I usually go a little over the recommended calorie intake, but I know I'll get back on track during the week. I've found that at my age (57) it's a lot easier for the weight to stay with me,…
  • I always weigh first thing in the morning and it fluctuates about a pound to a pound and a half. It gives me an idea of where I am. I'm afraid that if I didn't do it everyday I'd let myself gain. But I don't drive myself crazy over it...it's just a baseline reminder of where I am.
  • When I first started I did good to do 10 minutes. Worked up to 45 minutes until I reached my goal losing the weight. Now I'm doing 30 minutes a day, 6 days a week (cause I love to eat!). I have a Sole E35 and it has moveable arms...While I'm on the elliptical I do some without using them and some using the stationary…
  • I have a Sole E35, use it 5 days a week. Have had it for about 3 months, before that I used a NordicTrack that was several years old. Wasn't great but I was on it everyday, it got the job done. But the Sole E35 is great...quiet, smooth....Good luck!
  • Had an older one at home I used for about 6 months. Started going to the gym, but the only time I could go was in the morning before work. Would leave home about 6 am, 20 minute drive. Once school started back (3 school zones to go thru), the time change and colder weather, I know it was time to get a new one for the…
  • Thank you for making my day...these always cheer me up!
  • I use mine for about 40 minutes 5 days a week, and there's no telling how many breaks I have to take while doing those 40 minutes...they're not more than 30 seconds, but still..I must be really really slow cause I don't seem to burn the calories other people are reporting. I choose to blame that on being 56 and a smoker :)…
  • How can anyone read the topic of this post and not check to see what it's about...not what I thought it would be but loved it!
  • Sole E35 was delivered and set up 2 weeks ago. didnt work from day 1, nobody wanted to take responsibility for it. It is being picked up tomorrow.
  • OK, thanks to the elliptical I have lost 23 pounds. The one I was using was an older NordicTrack. I decided I had made enough of a commitment to it that I was gonna splurge and buy a new one, so I sold the NordicTract, bought the new fancy one. Had it delivered and set up 2 weeks ago. Got home that night to try it out and…
  • So nice to find out I'm not the only one who feels this way...I thought it was just me. I have about 10 pounds to go, but the last few weeks I've kind of gotten out of the routine that got me here.
  • I have an older Nordic Track. Up until earlier this year the only thing it was used for was as a clothes hanger. But I finally started using it the first of March, every day for 40 minutes. It helped me get to where I am with the weight loss. But after reading some of the comments I did some reading on the Sole 35 and want…
  • OK, I know I'm old cause I don't recognize too much of the music y'all have listed. My MP3player is full of classic rock...Bob Seger, ZZ Top, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Credence Clearwater....
  • I can so relate to this...wish I had that problem!
  • I toss them into a salad...any other ideas would be great!
  • Anything less than what I started out sounded good, but 150 is what I'm going for. After that, I'll just wait and see.
  • Since I posted that the elliptical and I have kind of reached an understanding. I'm still not overly in love with it, but I get on it everyday for about 30 minutes. I still sweat up a tsunami, but since I started using it regularly I've lost 8 pounds. I've been watching what I'm eating, but I know the elliptical has played…
  • Don't eat fast food much, but last night we went to Logan's for dinner. I ordered wood grilled salmon, steamed broccoli and a salad with fat free vinagerette. I never could understand people who would go to a steak place and not get a big juicy steak, baked potato loaded with butter and sour cream and a salad with ranch…
  • If I followed that logic, I wouldn't be here!
  • I grew up thinking the only way to eat brussel sprouts was boiled. Then I discovered roasting them..a little olive oil, dash of dijon mustard, salt and pepper. I think I roast all vegetables now...carrots, potatoes, asparagus...you name it I'll try roasting it!
  • I just carry on the next day as usual. If I tried to keep up with the overs and unders, I'd either drive myself crazy or give up all together.

  • I'm with others here... let him do the planning and cooking...see how long that will last...that should help to change his thinking!
  • Thanks y'all for the info. I wasn't sure which to trust (although I really like MFP's stats, I just wasn't sure if they could be trusted).
  • When you reached a certain time/calories on the elliptical and are determined to do it...even if it means being late for work!
