I don't know about the red yeast rice but my doctor put me on prescription fish oil --- said it is more effective than over the counter. It is also, of course, more expensive.....if that is possible.

I would try physical therapy --- it can work wonders for lots of issues, including strengthening specific areas of the body. Most insurance covers it.

I really love the recipes and meal plans in Sonoma Diet.
-
I wouldn't worry - it is fairly normal to lose quickly the first week or so. I think it is a morale booster but the loss usually slows down. The trick is not to get discouraged and then regain (which I have done a few times).

Kashi and Fiber One are highly recommended by a couple of diet gurus - I love both. Haven't compared them to Special K but I don't eat that anyway.

I did the same thing on vacation which was a 7 week cross country trip---I was pleased that I only gained 4 pounds and took that as a positive. Back on track now! Just keep it up!

I love the Trader Joe's soups that come in boxes, so I tried the Campbell's V-8. They are better than any other packaged soup but don't come close to Trader Joe's which have a similar calorie count. So, if you live near a TJ's, give them a try.

I can't guarantee prices are less but they seem like it and basically---everything tastes so such better! Enjoy!!!

I used to drink bottled water but when I found out that the bottles rarely have a place to go that actually recycles them, we switched to filtered water. Tastes just fine but if the water smelled bad (I know it does in some places), I would not be able to drink it. :noway:

Barilla Plus has a much better texture and taste than the whole wheat pastas I have tried. Just use a sensible sauce and you will be fine!

26 pounds lost since January -- need to step it up!: :grumble:

Hi -- I posted on Saturday but it isn't here - I think I was on part 1 - didn't know we went to part 2. Anyway -- 26 lbs lost and the sun is shining!!

Yep - the shoe size can change gradually.

There are tons of advice books of course but for a fairly commonsense approach you might try this website which lists menu suggestions without requiring you to read/buy a book. http://www.realage.com/doctorCenter/MealPlanner.aspx Best of Luck!!!!

Good luck - let us know how it goes!

Interesting about the hair loss -- I developed some type of scalp and skin condition and lost a lot of hair also. I never thought of Atkins causing it --- I thought it was stress. I was on the job market following grad school. But it went away when I started adding carbs back in. And, I agree, counting calories is much,…

Yes, several years ago I lost 50 lbs on it ---- almost effortlessly. Felt good, cholestrol went down and only gained about 10 pounds back. However, three years later I developed gout which I have since found out is one of the possible side effects of the Atkins. I found I couldn't keep the gout from coming back even with…

If you do more searching, the history seems to be that it was orginally mostly rice but it has evolved to mostly grains and fruit with some nonfat dairy daily and protein once a week. One site had a lot of comments and most folks seem to have used it as a quick two week program and then switched to a regular diet regimen.…

Here is the website that gives the most info --- just click on the drop down menu on the first page. http://www.riceway.com/ (I don't know how to reply to your mailbox, sorry!) As for my body already running --- yep it is but on slow speed. It is weight loss I want to jump start, not my body.

22 pounds lost :drinker:
-
I track it on the exercise scale but as others have said, it depends on what kind you are doing but I think you can indicate that one the cardio chart.
-
I am intrigued by the rice diet as a quick one or two week jumpstart. Has anyone tried it?

Ya'll are making my knees hurt!

I like the tomato pesto/basil gardenburger but most of them are good. I do usually eat them in a sandwich rather than by themselves. However the Morningstar sausage pattie (maple flavor) is very good --- I have that with an egg in the mornings sometimes.
