  • I have a similar background - theatre, dance, singing. I still sing pretty often, but I haven't danced at all. I'd love to get involved with it again, too, if I could find the time. Check out the community colleges; sometimes their dance classes (say, with a residents' discount) are less than the dance schools'.
  • I love Plyo! I do the P90X Plyometrics dvd, too, and it is tough! I'm excited and a little scared every time I start that one. I love when we're about to do rock star hops (I think) for the second time and everyone is breathing heavy and Tony just says "suck it up!" It's exactly what I need to hear at that moment!…
  • Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding!!!!! As soon as I read that, it hit the nail on the head for me. I checked out this thread because I was feeling the same way (diet-wise) and I didn't really know what to do about it. But your advice here is great. I'm going to research some new recipes and make that my passion for awhile! Thank…
  • Oh, I think he's hysterical! I've been doing it for a couple months now and I still laugh at the jokes. Anyway, glad I could help. Good luck! :flowerforyou:

  • Here is the link... http://teambeachbody.com/c/document_library/get_file?uuid=f9e53d48-c3f2-4b25-96d4-23f8f015c372&groupId=10137 You'll probably need to cut and paste it into your browser. Don't think the links are clickable on the message boards. Let me know if that works.

  • Hi Sara. There is a fitness test that should be included with your purchase. Take the test and see whether you're ready for it. It is an extreme fitness program and Beachbody does have others you can start with. But if you want to jump right in with P90X, you can adapt it - and they encourage you to do so - to your current…

  • Shoulder hurts from doing like 900 downward dogs Saturday. I have Chest, Shoulders and Triceps / ARX tonight. Think I'll have to be very careful with the shoulders. Thinking about switching workouts. Not sure yet, I'll have to play it by ear. Have a great day!
  • 434 for CS today. Great workout! I really enjoyed it. Still fell on the mat at some points, but I got back up. Thanks for all the advice. I found the instructions on how to set my heart rate limits on my HR monitor. I just need to figure out what the values are. I'll check out the link listed earlier in the thread.' Have a…
  • I tend to prefer working out in the evenings (or at least afternoons), too. I do better when I have a couple meals in me before working out. I don't do well working out first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. I know a lot of people do it, but I bonk pretty quickly if I do. I gotta be careful with letting it get too…
  • Ok, I meant joist-mounted pull up bar. Typo, Oh well.
  • Been indulging in PB and sliced banana on wholewheat toast lately - MMMMMMMMMMM! But I can't do it often. But it's sooooooooo good! Also love PB on graham crackers then dip it all in milk. OH, baby!
  • That 24/7 burn is the thing I love most about lifting weights - that and the pretty muscles, of course. But I'm wondering if there's a different calorie burn when you're doing strength training versus when you're doing strictly cardio that may not be reflected in a heart rate measurement. I know I'm working hard when I'm…
  • Thanks for the welcome! I love working the glamour mahhhscles, too, and talking like Ahhhrnold and flexing my mahhhscles!
  • I love victorian houses - so much character! I work out in my basement and as it is unfinished, I didn't have any doorframes to work with down there. I supposed I could just do those workouts that required pullups upstairs, but didn't want to. So I got a joint mounted pullup bar on eBay. I like it! Will like it even more…
  • Thanks, I was wondering the same thing!
  • I just got a new heart rate monitor yesterday and wore it for my Core Synergistics workout last night and found I only burned 371 calories. They say the P90X routines are supposed to burn 600 calories. Now granted, it was only my first time doing this CS workout and instead of doing running chatarangas, I did fall on the…
  • I hear ya, ladies! I installed a fancy pull up bar in my basement and I am determined to do unassisted pullups! Not sure how long it will take me to get there, but I will get it done!!! Guess I should introduce myself. I'm Rachel. I'm doing my first round of P90X and I'm in my 4th week - recovery week. But I tell ya,…
  • P90X is challenging, but it's so much fun! Tony (the trainer on all the P90X dvds) is such a riot, and not bad on the eyes. There is a fitness test, as it is an extreme exercise program (hence the X in P90X - Power 90 eXtreme) to make sure you're able to do the exercises well. If you're not there yet, Beach Body has many…
  • Thanks for the info, seanswifey! My heart rate monitor doesn't keep track of calories burned in the workout, start to finish, so I'll have to do some research on how to get the info based on heart rate at certain intervals. At least that would be more accurate than guessing.
  • Hey! I'm a P90Xer, too! I just started 2 weeks ago (on week 3 now). I'm 37 and want to lose about 30 pounds or so - maybe less depending on how much muscle I put on. I'm trying to stay off the scale. I know I've lost fat already and I can feel the added muscle, for sure! I love the program; it's a BLAST! I'd love to keep…
