  • Just wanted to chime in that I know how you feel. I previously lost 30lbs and gained it all back. I've been aware of the fact that I need to lose weight for 2 years now. It's been so much tougher to stick with anything this time around, but consistency is key. I'm glad you're downloading happy scale. I love it! It really…
  • Hi! I eat 1500-1600 a day. I've never had success eating less than that. It made me tired, and I constantly thought about food because I was so hungry. I'm 5 ft 2. I try to eat as balanced as possible. I don't track macros, but you'll reach a point where you can just tell if you're fueling your body correctly. You'll feel…
  • Feel free to add me! I'm a substitute teacher, but I'll be student teaching in the fall. :)
  • I work 10 hour shifts, so after work, I'm completely wiped out. I'm not a morning person, at all, but I decided that if I want to be serious about this, I have to workout in the mornings. If I can do it, I think anyone can. The trick for me is that I wake up an hour before I have to leave for the gym, and the gym is a 5…
  • Do what works best for you. A lot of people have success by cutting out simple carbs, or having small frequent meals, but it isn't the only way to lose. Restricting carbs makes me feel miserable, so I don't do it. Same with the tiny meals- it just isn't for me. You have to do something that you can stick with and still…
  • I think the idea that a 3000 cal deficit is extreme is because usually when people talk about calorie deficits, they mean per day. Totally curious guys, if you eat 1600 a day using IF, or 1600 a day not on an IF schedule, would there be any difference in weight-loss? I understand what IF is, but I'm not sure if would make…
  • I stopped logging most fruits and vegetables. If it's say, a banana or avocado, I would log it, but other than that, I don't. I reached the point where I was hungry, but having an apple would make me "go over" on my calories, and that's just silly to even feel bad about. I've noticed that I'm finally eating a lot more…
  • This sounds amazing! Thank you for sharing!
  • I think the best method for something like that is to purchase a heart rate monitor so you can see the actual calorie burn. It's so completely different for every person, so it's hard to get an accurate calorie burn if you enter it as circuit training or something like that
  • A quote that I really love is "Comparison is the thief of joy." You have to be proud of where you are and not compare yourself to anyone else in the gym. When I use a machine at the gym, I know I'm moving the plates up to a much lighter weight than the person before me, but it doesn't matter. I'm proud of where I am…
  • I don't know anything about the conditions you have, but 600 cals a day is drastically low. Even 1200 is too low in my opinion. I've literally stalled out on weight loss from eating too little, so I'm a big advocate of the "eat more to weigh less" train of thought. If you are just eating 1200, I'd say definitely eat back…
  • That seems about right.. Depending on your pace. I walk as fast as I possibly can and I burn the same amount in an hour.
  • Nope. I don't plan to stuff myself but there's no need for me to log since it won 't change my eating choices. I plan to enjoy myself food wise.
  • I 100% relate to what you're saying. Props to you for trying. My first day at the gym on machines, I literally got so uncomfortable that I sat by the entryway and waited until my gym buddy was able to leave. The next time I built up the courage to go, I fell on the treadmill about 3 minutes into my workout. So…
  • Hey all! Just an update that I haven't lost anything yet.. Can't seem to get past 130 and I keep gaining and losing the same 2 lbs. I'm going to have to be a lot stricter and more serious about this now because 3 months of this is insane.
  • Hi guys! I'm Jennifer and I started at 153. I'm now between 129 - 132 and my goal is 120. I'm trying to shoot for 1600 cal a day but I don't workout. I've managed to lose with minimal workouts but I think the only way for me to push through the last 10 lbs is to be more active. I've wasted a lot of time waiting for others…
  • My scale is all over the place. Yesterday I was 129.8 and this morning I was 131.2. I have been fluctuating in that range for 2 months. So frustrated.
  • I can relate. I definitely could not have lost the weight that I've lost if I were still at my old job. In fact, I would undoubtedly be heavier. The stress of my last job taught me the joys of "comfort eating" and when things were going badly (as they normally were every day), nothing made me feel better than sitting in…
  • I promise to workout for at least 20 minutes a day as well... as soon as I finish this mountain of homework. :) Seriously though. Tonight will probably be a late workout for me but I will do it. :D
  • I have never heard of that. I have mine set as lightly active and I have an active part time job as well. I would definitely change your settings if I were you. :)
  • You really won't gain if you go above 1200. I'm only 5 ft 2 and I have lost all of my weight on 1500 a day. Now I'm eating at 1600 a day and still losing. The idea isn't to eat as low as possible to lose as fast as you can. It's important to take your time and really commit to it so it will stick with you as a lifestyle…
  • I'm pretty sure it would be the same burn. Does your treadmill allow you to input your weight? Treadmills aren't the most accurate for calorie burn, but they can get pretty close and if you compare it to MFP, you'll have a good idea.
  • I think about this often since I'm close to my goal. I think I will still log but then again I'm not sure because I tend to eat a lot of the same foods so I have them memorized. I truly don't mind logging, it's measuring everything that drives me insane, but I think if you ever stopped logging, you would for sure need to…
  • Definitely Pop-Tarts! I have never in my life, just had one. Toaster strudels are just as bad.
  • My opinion is biased because I live in Alaska but for me I can't reccommend a higher dose of vitamin D enough. It makes a world of difference in boosting mood and I feel like I have way more energy in the winter while taking it.
  • My fiance calls me skinnybones jones as a compliment. Lol. But no one else has noticed. I mentioned I was eating healty and if anything, I got negetive remarks about it like "wow you don't need to lose any weight!". I really don't mind not being complimented by general people though because while it would be nice, I am…
  • I have lost 20 lbs on very little exercise, however, I don't recommend that (because now I'm playing catchup to lower my body fat, and get fit). The treadmill is definitely a great workout, especially if it has the ability to incline. Incline walking is fantastic cardio and one of my friends is down 40 lbs just by doing…
  • Same here. I can't wait for that one!
  • I have the xbox kinect and it rocks! I wear a HRM when I do it and it's actually really beneficial. I was playing a Michael Jackson dance game yesterday and not only was I working out, but I was laughing almost the whole time. I have a bad habit of thinking of cardio as torture, so I think if you find something that's fun,…
